Hey Lorelei! I’m about to go on a trip and I don’t know how to prepare my bunny’s enclosure. Of course there will be someone checking on him but I’m still nervous that something won’t be at his access and the rabbit sitter won’t know it.
I love all of your videos I recently moved my bunny inside the house from the barn to my bedroom and now he free roams around my room and is the happiest bunny ever in your videos has helped me to learn how rabbits don't belong in small cages. Without you, my rabbit would probably still be in a tiny cage in the barn. You have also helped me find a better DIY cheaper ways of taking care of my rabbit instead of spending a million dollars. Thank you so much!
Hi, Pineapple juice is an excellent choice for rabbits. It helps flush their tummies from fur balls that can cause blockage. I feed my bunny small bits of dried pineapple everyday to prevent GI stasis. Thanks for your tips
I stuff a kleenex box full of hay and place it with each rabbit. Depending on the brand, I sometimes have to cut out a half circle in the front. It holds a lot of hay, can be refilled (before they start chewing the box) and there is much less waste as they don’t pee on it by or spread it about.
The sock hack to cut your rabbit’s nails was a slay like I swear I flu from my chair and tried it on my rabbit and OMG I was shock bc he wasn’t moving as much as he used to❤❤
PLEASE 🙏 make an update about lab bunnies that you rescued from. It would means a lot to me knowing that they are well cared and given their loving forever home. As always - spread the love for buns!!! 💖🐇💖
For anyone as confused on the loofah as I was I guess not all loofahs are plastic? I guess some are made of a cucumber goard. So for the loofah hack don't use a plastic loofah!!!
I love the idea of the sock for nail trimming. It's always been such a drama trimming my Sebastien's nails. I can't wait to try it. Thanks Lorelai! 😊 🐰
Can’t wait to try the nail trim sock! Currently it takes two of us to safely trim the nails of my rabbits! One to hold bun and one to move foot floof and trim! I’m trying this hack tomorrow! THANK YOU
Great hacks. I just want to point out to any new owners that even with the nail clipping hack, PLEASE do not cut too short. There is a vein(I think thats what it is?) that is inside of the nail and if you cut too much off your going to make your rabbit bleed and be in pain. Use a flash light to see where the vein ends so you don't end up hurting them.
Ooh, ooh, I have a tip for you. When Goliath contracted E. cuniculi, I had to make him take meclazine to fight the dysequilibrium. I had previously given him a couple of Cheerios as a treat, which he really liked. So I cut the meclazine tablets into quarters (one quarter was his dose) and jammed that piece of pill into the Cheerio hole. I gave him a plain Cheerio, then I gave him the mickey (he looked at me like, "Hey this one tastes funny" but he ate it) then I gave him another plain one and he was happy! That med really did the trick, too: no more struggling to find which way was up.
I have always wanted to be a vet and work with rabbits. So as a start to my bunny career I plan to soon foster bunnies from a shelter. And when I do, I am absolutely try some of these hacks.
Personally, I am going to try the sock hack for trimming nails. We have two buns and one is easy while the other is not! So being able to see the nails and clip quicker would be amazing for all involved! 👍😜
Two years ago I moved my bunny Lunar out of my room into a bigger room right next to mine. Your videos have been a lot of help and I’m sure it’s hard to come up with all these bunny hacks, but they really do help so thank you!💕
The sock hay feeder, the juiced loofah slice (nice!) and the baseboard deterrent. Thank you for all your ideas. Not only do they make life a little easier, but they add change and interest to a bunny’s life. My bunny finds small switch ups in her routine interesting and sometimes quite exciting.
Wow great timing, watched this video today and im traveling with my bunny this evening. Definitely gonna use the sock-hay thing and the syringe for water. Thank you! 🐇
I'm travelling soon and I can see the sock being pretty useful since it's always so messy putting hay into the carrier... thank you Lorelei love your content ❤
The honey tip and baseboard pen could not have come at a better time! One of our buns is built different and WILL chew through plastic baseboard protection. Our other one fights so hard to not take his medicine I can't wait to try this!!!!!!
I find that cutting nails can be a bit tricky especially when the nails are pigmented or black in colour. What I learned from my rabbit Monty was that she’d let me apply the clippers to the nail tip but if I was too close to the quick (the veiny bit in the centre of the nail), then she would flex her toes. I found by applying the clippers and squeezing gently and watching for the reaction helped. If I was too close the toes would flex and she would wriggle. “Stop Mommy!” There are some non scissor type of clippers that have nail guards on them….you can use them by putting the nail to be clipped into the clippers and moving the clippers so the nail touches the guard, then snip. If you cut too short and your bunny bleeds, you can use either cornflour, potassium permanganate (be careful this stains skin and clothes)…..you just dip the bleeding nail into the powder and the bleeding will stop. There is also silver nitrate pens that you use to push onto the area bleeding, this is something that cauterises the bleeding. If you get it on your skin, it burns and will leave brown marks. As a retired Vet Nurse, it was commonplace to get these.…almost like a badge of honour 😂!
I will try all your hacks with the exception of the desensitization of loud noises. Joey is not fazed at all with loud noises. Unlike my kitty. She’s afraid of noises AND Joey. I’ve had her for 2 years now. She wants to be friends with Joey but Joey hates her and bites her every chance he gets. Sometimes he won’t allow her in the same room. Thank you for all your information and obvious love for the good life of a bunny. ❤
Thank you - these are great ideas. I will try the product to stop the chewing (Strong Will), the hay in the sock in the travel carrier and the sock over the paw for nail trims.
lol San Francisco always has construction so jackhammers, vacuum, drills, ambulance and police sirens since bunny was a kit. But still paperbags freak him out 😅
What I did for my rabbit when he had a little respiratory infection was mix (a little) fruit juice with his antibiotics and he viewed it as a treat. But if you end up doing this, don’t use too much juice, and try to use one with no added sugar.
you could also use an empty toilet paper/ paper towel roll for the hay feeder, i remember when i first got my bunnies i made the empty toilet paper roll toy that you made and stuffed hay into it back in like 2016
I love you're videos so much i have 3 bunnies Elsa milo and Cleo and when i got them i taught it would be really hard and i didn't know what to do so then i searched on RUclips and i found you're channal and you changed my life i wanna thank you so so much❤😊 i wish i could meet you❤❤❤
Areca palm leaf bowls saved our couch from a death by chewing. They're ecological, affordable, and totally safe to chew on and eat. Just make sure to get ones that aren't coated with any chemicals
This was a great video! I like the honey on the syringe for giving meds. It's always a struggle when I have to give my bunnies meds, I'm going to try this the next time I have to give them meds. The sock hay feeder is a great idea as well as using a sock for trimming nails. Luckily, my bunnies don't chew the baseboards or furniture.
I love the idea of the sock while traveling! My bunny Ume will be on a plane for the first time on Monday when we move to California, so I’m super excited to use this in her carrier 💜
The baseboard suggestion is great! We put silicone protector strips on ours, but our bunnies started eating them so we had to remove them all. Will give this a try :)
We have a bunny who took a chunk out of a plastic baseboard protector (she and her teefs are that strong...) soooo we'll be trying this too. It's aptly named😂
Hi Lorelai! Thank you for sharing these helpful tips and tricks. I recently adopted a Netherland Dwarf/Holland Lop mix (now 3 months old) and he's becoming very curious and loves to chew on the corners of my walls. I met your brother last month in VA (well, he claimed to be your brother). After seeing Levi (the bun) he asked if I watched your videos. I told him you were the reason I finally felt comfortable and confident enough to adopt a bunny. So, thanks! 😊
Hi! Congrats on your new family member. I just wanted to let you know that you should probably keep an extra eye on his teeth. He's the mix of two brachycephalic breeds, meaning his face is more squished than in other rabbits. This can result in malocclusion, abscesses etc! The rescue/shelter probably told you about this but I just wanted to make sure :)
Hi there, this was my first time watching and I loved the video. I have 2 bunnies inside the house. They don't allow me to pick them up and I'm worried that their nails are too long. The one keeps tapping his front paw but it doesn't seem to hurt. How do I go about clipping their nails? 8:03
Hi hi! My bunny's nails just got trimmed and by using the sock life hack that you said it worked very well! It was her first time getting her nails trimmed and it was done easily without any fur in the way! Tsym Lorelei!!
I will definitely try out all of these for my bunnies! I think I’ll probably try out the stuff for nail biting on my baseboards because my bunnies chew a lot 😅 also this is kinda off topic but I love your hair! It’s very pretty
Thanks for these great tips. My bunny just ate our charger cable, will definitely check the cable you showed. Also the nail biting ointment on wood/furniture I'll try. As he keeps eating the wallpaper.
You could try areca palm leaf bowls too. The ones with no chemical coating are fully safe to eat. They are also dirt cheap to buy in bulk, ecologically made by heat pressing naturally fallen leaves, roughly as hard as wood, and apparently delicious to a rabbit. After we got our rabbit these bowls she has left the furniture alone :)
Definitely going to try the nail chewing deterrent on the baseboards. And the drop of honey on the syringe (brilliant). And I didn't even know they make metal phone charging chords!! I have 2 free roam buns, and this was super helpful... Thanks so much 💕😊
Where can I purchase one of those loofah's , 14 guinea pigs that hack would be perfect for a once a month treat/chew toy. I just researched it and it's safe for guinea pigs too. I know your a rabbit channel but a lot of the items that are safe as chew toys for rabbits are safe for guinea pigs too. So thank you for all your hard work and content Lorelai.
Love the sock idea for trimming nails. Also wonder if that same idea would work for other animals as well like cats, Guinea pigs, or even dogs. Just a wild thought. If and when decide on getting a rabbit will try all the hacks shown.
I have already tried syringe it worked for my bunny rosy she would never drink when i walk her outside i use that not issues and i would also like to point out to everyone about the juice hack do not use coconut juice if you use it i can say your bunny will have direaha. Thanks lorli for this infomation as all ways❤
I'm soooo going to try the sock for all animals nail trims in my future!!! It holds the hair out of the way and I 😍🥰 it!!!!!!! I also already have extra loofah slices (🥳) so am going to try that for my Miss Violet Bunnbunn and see if she likes!
I didn't even know I was doing this loud noise hack thingy. I'm a gamer, so they are so used to hear gunshots, explosions, shouting, etc etc lol Now they don't even flinch even people do fireworks around my house.
Great ideas! I'm going to make the lufas. Some ideas- Manuka honey works as an antibiotic ointment. It was recommended by my vet. My bunnies free roam the entire house. I gave up on chasing down different ways to prevent chewing damage. I finally just lined my house with 14 inch high chicken wire- straight to the walls. Their freedom and my peace of mind were worth more than "curb appeal ". I like the hay sock idea also.
Always BEYOND Helpful!!! = Thank you Lorelei & Lennon!!!! I’ll admit.... I’ve been “binge watching” your videos for the last several weeks.... I landscape & design for a living.... while at a job site on June 5th I discovered a blind wild baby bunny....... I told myself & homeowners, if the bunny was still in the same place upon my departure, I would take him home = he is with me now & Absolutely Thriving!!!!! The information you provide is EXCEPTIONAL..... I am happy to report..... he is free roaming, his diet.... Quite Frankly... Much Healthier than mine... (although that too is changing) He is So Trusting & Lovable..... I am Madly in love with my bunny!!!! I Honestly Couldn’t Be More Grateful For You & Lennon!!! (I’ll continue to watch & learn!!) Big hug’s to you Both!!! 🙏🐾🌈🦋🌱😇🎈🌻🐰❤️💡🐇💖🌎💌
This is my first video on your channel. I am watching. I just started watching your channel today and I already love your channel once I make it to the end I think and then if I think I really like it, I’ll subscribe and your channel looks amazing 🤩!
Love all your videos. So very helpful. I got my bunny at 4 months old. He was living in an outside cage with his littermates. He free roams and I do everything I've learned from your videos. Sadly, he is not a cuddly rabbit. I sit with him on the floor and feed him his greens by hand. He will put his paws on me while he is eating. I cannot pick him up. I cannot brush him. I have to take him to the vet to get his nails cut. Getting him in his carrier is very upsetting for both of us. I have been very patient and kind with him. Sometimes I just sit on the floor and talk or read to him. He just turned 2 years old and I have not made any progress. I have had several other rabbits in my adult life. They were very sociable and affectionate. My current bunny runs and does binkeys, plays with toys and has stimulation from things I got from Small Pet Select. I love him so much, but wish we could be closer. Any suggestions??
Get him a fixed partner and properly bond them is the best suggestion :) human attention is not enough, especially not for bunnies that don't like to interact with humans.
Which hack would YOU try? Comment below!

I think it's one of the cutest things when a bunny is just patiently waiting, draped over someone's forearm like they are a teddy bear. 😍
Agree! I had a guinea pig who loved to be carried around that way. Absolute trust from a prey animal is pet goals

(although that too is changing)
He is So Trusting & Lovable..... I am Madly in love with my bunny!!!!
I Honestly Couldn’t Be More Grateful For You & Lennon!!!
(I’ll continue to watch & learn!!)
Big hug’s to you Both!!!

Hi Lorelei Omg I am so so happy you posted this video you are so so helpful much love💖💖
I want to try the sock and nails one, I have a hard time when I do mine for my buns
I love the loofa thing!
