    That particular GS is my favorite GS of them all. The 40mm Rolex Sea-Dweller overall the best pro diver out there. The Omega Globemaster with the tungsten bezel and that dial, my favorite Omega model. And finally that special edition Moon Watch...stunning!

    I’ve had my eye on a few Bucherer watches for a while now; they just seem to provide so much watch for the money. The Scubatech unfortunately is a tough sell, seeing as both the Oris Aquis and Omega 300M offer excellent specs for less money.

    Well, that would make me nervous. Did Vacheron not apply for the Geneva Seal because the not very certain and clear rule with the caped colum wheel... (seriously?) or is the whole dial side and everything you cannot see unfinished. Patek forever.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  5 лет назад +1

      Vacheron has no history of blanket Geneva hallmark certification. Until the mid-2000s, it was common for many -- even most -- display caseback VC watches to be finished to an extremely high standard without the seal. I've inspected the watches at 10x, and they leave nothing to be desired.

      @@the1916companywatchreviews Thank you Tim! Can I ask you what you found with this 1815? You mentioned some parts have not been finished to the highest standard. Or only the gold plated rotor? In case you go to SIHH you should suggest a Lange seal for long term confidence in the brand.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  5 лет назад +1

      The Snowflake is wonderful, but I was impressed to see the quality of the finish on platinum. In general, mirror-finish is easy to achieve on grade five titanium or steel, but on platinum... wow. Not only is there no margin for error with such a soft metal, but the quality of the shine is equal to GS titanium.

    Tim, you might know or not but Im a long time regular viewer of the show and while the overall production quality and your personal style has improved tremendously, the pre-recorded experience is just nowhere near as great. The interaction with the audience is brilliant and the watch people together in chat talking about what you show is also half of the joy. With these prerecords I find myself skipping a few seconds ahead when the timepiece in question is not my style and the overall experience is just not half as good.

    Now Grand Seiko has finally lost it. 53.000 pre-owned, one of the most expensive watches of the show! What was the MSRP for that? Oh yeah, it's platinum, the dial, bla bla. But the movement is nothing special in finishing and the sapphire caseback steals you platinum, no extra complications, unlike the CHEAPER Rolex Day-Date II Platinum, it has a a strap instead a platinum bracelet, and the Day-Date has a useful complication more unlike an automatic with power reserve indicator. Also, what about scratches on that shiny zaratsu case? Speechless. I could get the limited Lange Cellini or VC Chronograph, plus the Saxonia and have still enough for the JLC and the Bucherer, or whatever.

    • @IANSPA

      The movement is the most accurate mechanically operated in the world, nothing special (!)

    • @georgebeckford728
      @georgebeckford728 5 лет назад +2

      @@IANSPA Just don't be a sucker for GS like the Rolex fanboys are for the crown. It's in fact a (great) quartz operated movement but the real scandal is that you can get that EXACT SAME movement 9R15 in watches around the 10.000 dollar MSRP. Then they hardly give you any platinum, the dial is not much better then the snowflake. I mean, only morons will buy this.

    • @Jack-is9sm
      @Jack-is9sm 5 лет назад

      @@georgebeckford728 I wasn't concentrating, I actually thought it was the standard Snowflake, cheers for the heads up. I nearly got the titanium 9R Diver, and it retailed for £6,000 over here in the UK, and just because I asked, I could get it for £4,000 , brand new. I didn't go for it though. I got a Rolex Seadweller deep-sea D-Blue (JC) instead. It was a bit more than £4,000 but a nice watch. I have quite large hands and wrists. So I can pull off a big watch.

    • @IANSPA
      @IANSPA 5 лет назад +1

      @@georgebeckford728 It is in Fact a "mechanically operated" quartz regulated movement, the dial is hand painted taking many layers over many hours they are the only watch makers incorporating zeratsu polishing by hand over many hours, along with all the other hand finishing.
      It's also limited to 20 pieces so the type of people who would buy it are fans of superior artisanal build quality and don't worry about money dear boy.
