  • I enjoyed making this video about northwest Germany so much that I don’t even care if nobody else watches it. I have such great memories of my time there. I hope I can live there someday. Seeing the rich tea culture made me appreciate teatime that much more, and I now have a deeper understanding to why my family practiced afternoon tea growing up. Bünting and Thiele are the two main brands. The tea is accompanied with German rock sugar and very heavy cream. When the cream is added to the hot tea, it floats to the top making a beautiful flower in the cup. Our Airbnb was great, and we have the most awesome host and hostess! I hope you enjoyed watching this video. Please subscribe if you want to see more.

As a west Frisian it's nice to peak across the border to see what our cousins are up to - beautiful scenery !

My grandma’s family was from East Frisia-she said her Bavarian in-laws looked down on the Frisians as coastal hillbillies lol. The area looks pretty cosmopolitan these days

Finding I had Frisian ancestry has explained so much! I thought I was German but my real last name is obviously Frisian. And I see my ancestors before 1700 used the patronymic naming system as well. I want to visit.
I hear the area is seen as rural to the Germans, but I am proud of being an educated man who lives in a rural, backward area here in the US! At least now I know my family's love of tea is genetic lol!

Yes! The tradition was carried on to my family here in American. We always drank tea growing up, especially every afternoon just like my grandparents. I thought everyone did that until I got older and people commented on it. When we went back to Germany and had tea with my family it felt like I was really doing it the proper way.
