      @@OlJackBurton The Macan EV won't be in production until the 2024 model year. It's estimated to start at $75-80k, though I'm sure with trim upgrades, $100k price tag is feasible.

    • @OlJackBurton
      @OlJackBurton 2 года назад

      @@konacopia I doubt she'll buy the base model with the stock color and interior and no options. Porsche charges over $8k for certain color/interior combinations. Not for interior upgrades like leather, wood, alcantara or carbon fiber to the dash, door panels, headliner, steering wheel and interior trims, but just the color. Also almost every single higher end convenience/luxury/tech feature is extra and overpriced. There are no comprehensive packages, but everything is ala carte. Add in inflation, taxes, fees and dealer markups, the Macan EV is easily a $100+k car, even for the base trim. Heck, that fat E-tron was a $90+k car out the door when it was new 3+ years ago...

    I ended up returning my 2019 e-tron. It ended up being a lemon sitting in the shop over 40 days in less than a year. Problems included:
    - Leaky sunroof
    - charging compartment seal problems (took two stays at dealership to diagnose. I eventually had to diagnose via Google for them)
    - AC didn't work (took 3.5 weeks to fix)
    - Car randomly wouldn't start
    It was fun to drive, but had SO many issues and the randomly wouldn't start. The terrible efficiency and anemic range didn't help, but didn't end up being the deal breaker. Sound system was really nice though. Good luck!!!

    I’ve kind of secretly wanted either this or an Ipace for several years now. Missed the boat on both of them (remember when you coujd get either for 15-20 off). I know both are considered kind of uncool by EV enthusiasts due to the low range and efficiency but overall they are still the most appealing EVs to me overall. Glad that Alyssa got what she wanted instead of something that EV nerds consider cool.

    • @youferrer
      @youferrer 2 года назад

      I had an I Pace. It's a better around town car than the Audi, but, and these are big: 1: Buggy software on 1st gens made it unusable, 2: Not a trip car as the charging curve was terrible. But if you get a later year and use it for weekly driving, it's really nice. It's quick, handles well, stylish, and well equipped. Mine was a 1st year and the software killed it for me, so I traded it for a Taycan. If the software were better, I would have kept it.

    • @richardh3587
      @richardh3587 2 года назад

      @@youferrer Nice! The Taycan is my current "dream car", but a bit out of my budget (the minimum spec i'd be happy with comes to 110k). Currently have a Range Rover Sport so am very familiar with the slow/buggy infotainment system that you had in your ipace. I test drove a 22 in the fall with the newer system and it is so much better. We rarely take road trips longer than about 150 miles in 1 day, but yeah, the slow DC charging speed is a bit annoying (though they may have improved it slightly over the years). The real deal killer on the Ipace may be that they are very hard to find now and custom orders can take upwards of 8 months. In contrast, the local audi dealer has about 20 etrons in stock with no dealer markups. Still, my heart is w/ the i-pace. I just can't seem to get excited about the newer mainstream EVs like the Ioniq5, EV6 or Mach-E.

    • @youferrer
      @youferrer 2 года назад

      @@richardh3587 Agreed. The I-Pace was a really nice CUV, much better than those mentioned. But 8 months! When I got mine, they couldn't give them away. I don't know if you have had a chance to drive the I-Pace but it's surprisingly good. The 0-60 is like a sports car.

    Great car, I have a 2021 Prestige. It was Kyle’s early videos with the E-Tron roadtrips that convinced me to get one. So far it has been great, the charge curve really saves the “lack of range”. With anything, it is how you drive the vehicle, with the recent software updates you should get some more range in the early e-trons. Hope to see a new 70mph range test with this car and see what they get. Excited for more content!l

      Is the charging really that great on it? In the video they mentioned it only maxed out at 150kW on the best charger possible, how long would it take to say go from 0-80%? I’m honestly surprised it’s so low considering even a car almost half the price like the ioniq5 maxes out at almost double the charging rate.

    • @realev21
      @realev21 2 года назад +1

      @@philorgneopolotin8762 The charge maxes out at 150kW and then stays at 150 KW until 85%. There are no dips and valleys. It beats faster charging cars because it averages out at 150kW instead of the faster ones that go to 225 kW or whatever and then fall off a cliff at 30% charge. Even going into 100% the etron is still pulling strong (no not 150 kW :) )

    I recently rented a 2021 Audi E-tron for a week. The charging curve on this thing is fantastic. I was pulling 180-190kW from 10-75% SoC. 150kW at 80%, 120kW around 87-89% and dropping to around 80kW all the way to like 98%. We pulled into a 350kW EA charger with about 14% SoC, and barely had enough time to get McDonald’s before it was at 90+% and I worrying about idle fees. It is really nice looking inside and out, hope you like it.

Very curious what you get in your efficiency and range testing -- my personal best is 27.6 kWh/100 mi, lifetime average 41 kWh/100 mi with a lot of very cold winter driving. Lower ride height in sport mode seems to be good for about 10% better efficiency at highway speeds. You can get even lower in Eco but it's too soft for bad US roads and can hit bump stops.

    If you are tinting the front window you should look into AirBlue, it is a clear tint that cuts down on the radiant heat. I have it on my wife’s Tesla Model 3 P, my Jeep Wrangler Sahara.

    It baffles me how these guys are able to afford all these vehicles, even if they are able to claim them as work vehicles and write off some of the cost. These guys should be financial advisors as well as EV experts!

      These days you can get good money for whatever your trade-in - especially for an EV, so I bet that's a partial factor.

    Me too the EV world. Charging at 150W all the way to 8% seems to be a big deal and as mentioned even Teslas can’t do it. And then the dad mentioned something about his Ioniq going even faster. Any place to read up on what these numbers mean? I’ve not run until these specs before.

    The 240V plug discoloration could be due to a cheap (i.e. $10) 14-50 240V Receptacle.
    The cheap ones usually have smaller pin contact points and those receptacle contacts can become somewhat loose with repeated connection/disconnection cycles.
    Yet many people will have no problem with the cheap ones particularly if they leave the charging adapter plugged into the 14-50 receptacle.
    Note Tesla recommends 'commercial' grade receptacles (not $10).
