    I know you guys worked hard on your bathroom plumbing, but that system would only pass code if your brother was the plumbing inspector. This could have been plumbed with one wet vent from the lav. All of those short 90 degree turns under the floor are illegal. The offset in that tub/shower drain, which turns it into a s-trap, is illegal. All of the plumbing would need access since you used a cleanout on the 3" pipe and a removable p-trap on the tub/shower. The vent for the tub/shower has a dry horizontal run under the floor which is only legal under certain circumstances when a wet vent can't be used, and this situation is not the one. The only reason I am being critical of your work is that people may look at this and think this is the correct way to run a drain and vent system for a bathroom, when in fact it is incorrect, and far too much pipe and fittings were used for a simple single bath system.

      Thank you for your evaluation. The 90 degree DWV piping are at and for vertical vents; not waste pipes. The plumbing does have an access door panel for the clean-out. There is a "P" trap; not an "S" trap. Please describe further, why you think this is not legal and why you think it is an "S" trap and not a "P" trap -when the configuration includes a P trap under the tub. And, please describe how you think the work should be done-given that the work must be done between two floor joists in a not conditioned space above a garage. And if you can, please explain why you think this will not drain or vent correctly; -so far, it seems to be working correctly. Thank you for your evaluation and comments.

      @@HomeBuildingDIY.RE.IMBDLLC With a single bathroom group this could have been plumbed with one wet vet at the lavatory. All pipes have to be on the same level with the lav wet vent venting the tub first and the water closet last. More than likely, this whole bathroom could have been vented with a Studor vent (Air Admittance Valve) so you did not have to go through the roof.
      I'm sure your system works but is not by code, sorry. You can't have horizontal dry vents. Your tub drain is not on the same hydraulic gradient as your vent, so you have created a s-trap. Basically, after the vent for your tub, you went up at a 45-degree angle and then back to horizontal to catch your p-trap for the tub. As soon as you rose 45 degrees you broke the air flow from your vent

    • @edwardmarshall2035
      @edwardmarshall2035 Год назад

      You can't jump up a non vented line before your p-trap or it will create an s-trap. Because of the tub overflow and the 2" trap into an 1 1/2 inch horizontal it shouldn't leak sewer gas, seen it a hundred times when you turn into the sub floor makes sure you come out high enough to keep the trap in the subfloor. The clean out is fine but there's no way I'd use a k60 on a ladder. I'd either go through the vent stack, the tub over flow, or pull the toilet, and no a compression p -trap is not a clean out, you can just run a super vee through the overflow.

    you can't fall more than your pipe diameter before venting a trap. your tub is a full blown S-trap and would not pass inspection. you used so much pipe individually venting all of the fixtures. You could've wet vented the entire bathroom group and went up the wall with 1 continuous waste and vent saving way more pipe and fittings.
    How i wouldve done it:
    90 under the water closet, run back to the wall, install a 3X3X2 wye, shoot through the floor joist, install a 2 X 2 X 1 1/2 wye (2" for the wet vent to continue up the wall to the Lav, and the 1 1/2 branch to catch the bath tub) And then 90 up into the floor/ wall with my wet vent upstairs. install a 2 X 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 TY and shoot over in the wall and 90 out to catch my Lav. Then run the SINGLE continuous waste vent pipe up to the attic tying into my main stack if it is in close enough proximity. If not, I would put it through the roof by itself upsizing to 3" before terminating to open air.
    This way would save you tons of pipe and fittings and it would look a ton better. Remind you this is dependent on the Ontario plumbing code and it is how I would've done it in my jurisdiction.

    • @HomeBuildingDIY.RE.IMBDLLC

      There is a trap door to access the cleanout; after the finished ceiling; and vent's do not need cleanouts as no waste travels through them. Vents are required for each plumbing waste fixture. So we think the work is OK, to code and good work. Thank you for reviewing the work.

    It unfortunate we couldnt roll the main drain line in the next bay to the right to hit the vent without rollibg flat.
    In our locale flat vents are required to be the next min pipe dia up servicing the drain load, pitched to drain, and require drainage standard fittings (those vent 90's- no; vert to horizontal- long sweep) until you are 6" above the highest flood rim of the group or 42" above FF which ever is higher.
    Your bath drain could be be considered an s trap if your drain arm changes horizontal plane before venting without increasing pipe size.
    In the future hit yor vent before your drainage arm changes out of horizontal.
    Planing is everything.

    With so many large holes in that engineered joist I’d be concerned with compromising its integrity, I’m not a framer so not sure, but as a plumber… no jurisdiction I’ve ever worked in would have approved it. The slip joint trap on the tub is a really bad idea, tubs clog quite easily and a snake can push it apart

Wet venting is most common in conjunction with toilets and sinks; the drain for the sink is also the vent for the toilet. ....not sure if we could have implemented this...but thanks for bringing it to our attention....we appreciate the evaluation with other building strategies.
