  • 40 HOUR UPDATE! • Onex Turbo Update 40 h...
    Start @ 45:00!
    MGL Extreme features @ 25:00
    Cranking Oil pressure test @ 26:00
    Changing from bar to PSI on MGL @ 27:23
    Aero Injector tuning instructions @ 41:00
    Faulty Mags @ 47:20 batch of bad mags went out and
    grounding P terminal would not kill mags--Sonex sent me
    2 new ones!....faulty mags for sale...
    Connected waste gate and actually saw drop in Map???
    turns out rust was forming in turbine from sitting so long between runs. Sent back to Sonex for inspection/confirmation--I was afraid I melted the turbo after 2 hours of run time. Will add port on exhaust to shoot Sta-bil fogger into turbine to prevent rust

    Sent you text by phone. WHen EI and Mag are both running, the EI is in charge and ignites the fuel/air according to temperature and density altitude sensed. When you cut Mags off - you will hardly notice an rpm change. But if you cut EI off, you are now running on Mags only and with just the manual changes to Mixture based on rpm you can see/hear. So you will see 50-100 rpm drop (that is what I see on my RV anyway).

    I'm currently thinking about the 1X with the arrow V Turbo. I notice the hose clamps don't have a locking mechanism. Probly not necessary but I'm a double Virgo. The spelling above is my voice recognition not working that well but I'm not going back to fix it. Thanks for the video enjoyed it.

    • @1bengrubb
      @1bengrubb  4 года назад

      Yep 16 hose clamps hold all the intake on! My counselor had me twist wire all of them. Then as I worked on it I would not immediately put them back on. My buddy developed an air leak on his Aerovee so he encouraged me to replace the twist wires on my hose clamps. If there were huge push fittings that would be cool.

    Congrats and nice build! Any heat issues between the turbo and other stuff packed near the firewall?

    • @1bengrubb
      @1bengrubb  3 года назад +1

      Yes it started melting my ignition module and battery. I thought the module was melting itself but it occurred to me that the water port of the turbo (not using) was pointing right at the ignition module shooting a jet of hot air on it. Made a thin shield for the battery and module and no worries.

    It's best to have these test done outside. It doesn't take much fumes to explode if there is a spark near buy. Obviously you were lucky enough to not have that happen, but someone else could see this and not be as lucky.

    • @1bengrubb
      @1bengrubb  3 года назад

      Must not be too explosive---10s of millions of Americans pump there own gas into a car with hot exhaust pipes all around them (unless you are in oregon!!)

    • @kennybarrow9835
      @kennybarrow9835 3 года назад

      @@1bengrubb I don't think 10s of millions pump gas in their cars in a closed garage. I know of people who have been blown up with as little fuel as I saw when their hot water heater lit the fumes. all it takes is the right conditions and since you can't control everyone's conditions, it's best not to do dangerous things in a RUclips video..

    • @1bengrubb
      @1bengrubb  5 лет назад

      The turbo seized so I sent it in and it was due to rust from not running it enough.. they said it takes about one hundred hours to season the turbo so I'm going to add a port on the exhaust so I can squirt stable fogger into it after each run... Right now I'm finishing the vinyl and interior then we'll haul it to the airport!
