good video. I have questions about the turbo due to flying in the desert in the Southwest. I am told with our pressure altitude it is the way to go. Thanks again.

Mike, this is very good information and you relay it very clearly. Are you still using the same propeller that you ran before the turbo? I would expect this engine to want more twist and/or chord. Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience.

Thank you Dennis. Yes the propeller is different; the non-turbo AeroVee propeller has 44" of pitch, while the turbo uses a propeller with 50" of pitch. Given the extra power, a prop with more pitch is necessary.

How’s the turbo holding up? Did all the bugs get worked out?

Did I miss it? Climb cruise and burn favorite power setting? What did u gain for 4gs Other vids I saw are 70 mph normal to 90 in climb with turbo

wastegate is not called a blow off vale in automotive world. They are two completely different things used for completely different things. Wastegates control boost. Blow off valve is on the intake side between the turbo and throttle body and blows off excess boost when you close the throttle.... turbo is still spinning when you close the throttle, that air has to go somewhere. you need one on a car because of all the rapid throttle changes a car goes through ..... dont really need one on a plane cause the throttle changes are slow and gradual.

i think they are the same wastegate and blow off valve....in aviation they r called BLEED VALVE it also control the extra boost of the engine to eliminate COMPRESSOR SURGE/STALL.

Not a big fan of using a draw through carb before the turbo. You need to watch your turbo compressor bearings over time. Turbos are not really made to have gasoline run through them. Watch for gasoline getting in your oil as well. You can also not ever put an intercooler after the turbo or run the risk of gasoline pooling in it.

Hello Bob, individual costs are variable depending on what equipment you install but kit and engine prices can be found at www.sonexaircraft.com and www.aeroconversions.com
