  • Richard Ewing wanted to build a Sonex aircraft. That proved to be a long and laborious process, which he has loved every minute of. Having a great circle of friends to help was vital to the project. The end result?.....well, see for yourself!

Thankyou for having the fore thought to video and photograph your wonderful project. I have built one aircraft and rebuilt another during my flying career and felt every moment with you as i watched your build. I have been retired for some years now and have itchy feet for something aeronautical. You may have inspired me. Good luck with the flying.
    John.

I'm surprised Sonex hasn't contacted you offering you a job as one of their spokes persons... well, maybe they have already? I think you'd be great working at their booth at one of those airshows, fly-ins and adding your awesome humor to your talks. Great video with detail and again, love your humor!

I guess it's kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?

Love the detail and thought that you shared for your build. Maybe I'll be building one of these in the future.

I think it would be so cool to put the SubSonex retractable landing gear in a Sonex or Waiex even if it had to be beefed up a little. Like the BD5 Micro Jet, the gear could be raised and lowered by hand and not necessarily electrically to save weight. I'm sure there would be a lot less air drag and better speed with retractable gear. Do you know if it's ever been considered or possible? Just saying/asking.

Sure have John. This was one of four talks: Others are "I want an aeroplane. What about a Sonex", "Building a Sonex aircraft", First flight of my Sonex aircraft". Enjoy.
