I was at this in 1992. James Hetfield absolutely smashed this out of the park and the band were so on point here it was like listening to the studio version but with a different vocalist
This was such a fantastic performance, each of the performers seemed to really be having a great time. John joined Brian and Roger for the song "No One But You (only the good die young)" and also at a concert with Elton John in France before retiring. This was such an amazing concert. Who wouldn't want to play with Queen? All the performers said that they had a hard time finding a Queen song that they could actually sing, since they were all written with Freddie in mind. Whether or not you like Adam Lambert singing with Queen, I have to give him a big thumbs up because he can sing all the Queen songs without having to change the key, something not many singers could ever do. Queen had rehearsals with everyone performing in this show for 3 weeks before the concert date, so Brian, John and Roger really put the time in working with each act to make this a great event. Axl was one performer who was inconsistent in conforming with the rehearsal schedules and on the day of the show, Brian still did not know if Axl would show up at all, so when he came bursting out, spinning onto the stage like a whirling dervish, you can see the relief on Brian's face. I thought Axl did a good job with Elton but his missing rehearsals would explain him not having the words right for We Will Rock You.
The concert with Elton John was the opening for ballet for life to raise money for AIDS and they are still performing. In tribute to Freddie and their main ballet dancer who also died of AIDS and for all who died
Metallica won a Grammy for their version of "Stone Cold Crazy". A Queen cover. I still think Freddie sounds better, but this song is heavy metal. Great reaction and commentary! Brian May loves guitar by Iommi and Slash. This tribute concert was only less than a year from Freddie's death.
This was John's last full show with Queen. He rejoined the band to record one song in 1997 "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)", a tribute to great people who have died young, especially Freddie(at some point would be cool for you two to react to the official music video). He also Joined Queen on stage for one song at an Aids Benefit concert that same year.
AIDS benefit Open ballet for life They still perform the show Tribute to Freddie and their lead dancer and everyone who died of AIDS Dying too young To raise money and awareness Not all Queen music but mostly with some motzart ! Freddie would love that! Also a tribute to versace who designed the costumes and aas killed before he got to see the show Freddie loved ballet and they do have traditional pieces in the show but most of it seems more modern dance than ballet I'm sure Freddie would still appreciate the creativity
My sister is a massive Metallica fan & she had no idea that Stone Cold Crazy is originally a Queen song! 😆 I was happy to explain it to her, of course. 😀 Check out Joe Elliott (Def Leppard) sing with Queen Tie Your Mother Down at this concert! 🤘
James without a guitar was a precursor to the 1992 Montreal debacle.. Poor dude literally went up in flames… and came back a few weeks later to do shows with his guitar tech playing rhythm guitar.
You should see George Michaels version of Somebody to love from this concert - but listen to Queens version first. They had to have a lot of artists to front Queen at this concert because no-one would be able to do his repertoire. If you are lucky you can find it on RUclips - if not you can buy the DVD. John withdraw - he couldn't see any point in going on. But he oversees the finances - and there is a lot - they have made a musical that toured and a movie --"Bohemian Rhapsody" - - and a lot of other things that demands somebody to oversee the finances. But Brian and Roger had a pause - and then they met Paul Rodgers - and they toured for som years - and then they called it a day - - until they were invited to participate in the finale of "American Idol" where one of the finalists Adam Lambert was capable of singing Bohemian Rhapsody - and they also felt some chemistry - so they kept in touch - and after a year they started to rehearse and try things out. Now they have been touring for 10 years - sold out stadiums - so the music of Queen is still alive. Adam is not Freddie - and he is not trying to - but he is flamboyant and has an amazing voice - There is nothing like it - says Bri and Roger. And they thrive - and the music can be played to new generations - thanks to the movie. The actor, Rami Malek, who played Freddie earned an Oscar. you can stream it or buy it. I guess that everybody wanted to contribute - even Elizabeth Taylor .The line-up is
I love this song. I like Jame's voice but when Freddie sang it, he was perfectly on the beat which, as a musician, I really appreciated because it's so hard to do. I think that's why I like this song so much. It's very difficult to play and they did it well live, James, on the other hand, his rhythm was off the beat and he messed up the fourth verse which is my favorite verse so that was frustrating. Kudos to Roger and the band for keeping it together and helping him find the beat again. That said, I still enjoyed it. Thanks for the reaction!
This was a great concert, but a lot of the artist struggled trying to sing the songs in there original key. Extreme got in trouble for doing a compilation of songs at the beginning, as everyone was supposed to just do 1 or 2, but the star was definitely George Michael singing Somebody to Love. He was epic, not Freddie, but still epic!
Agree, Elton & Axl were terrible singing BohemianRhapsody (btw I'm a big GN'R fan). check out Sheer heart attack live Montreal 81 Epic. keep yourself alive Montreal 81

I think Freddie would have loved the creativity of it

@@tommyzoo I also liked Joe Elliott’s Tie Your Mother Down!

I couldn't stop laughing at the talk about Tony.
James without a guitar was a precursor to the 1992 Montreal debacle.. Poor dude literally went up in flames… and came back a few weeks later to do shows with his guitar tech playing rhythm guitar.
Tony Iommi is the guitarist from Black Sabbath & John Deacon retired in 1997 x Metallica won a Grammy award for a cover of this song

Roger is 72 and Brian is 75 - and the hair is white - but nothing else has changed.
I like the hetfield version
I think you mispelled God 😂
