Most of the singers at the Freddie tribute all commented that they had to sing in a lower key or change the styling because of how great a vocalist Freddie was. I was at this gig & for me the closest anyone got to Freddie was George Michael singing Somebody to love. Really impressive.
I was at this concert it was totally fab a great way to say goodbye to Freddie and when Queen go metal they can not be touched. Check "sheer heart attack" it when Queen out Punk, Punk
If I could request one song - everything Queen did was awesome - but I'm always so moved hearing "Who Wants to Live Forever". Although I think Queen was the best live band ever, in this case my favorite is the studio version. Check it out!
Ok so 2 of my favorites from the tribute is Sir Elton singing The Show Must go On. Johns bass is so beautiful even though he looks so sad. And George Michael just nails Somebody To Love. The look on Brians face at the end when he hits the high note.
When Metallica covered Queen’s STONE COLD CRAZY .. that was one of the greatest forms of honor for Freddie, Brian, Roger, & John! Check out Joe Elliott’s (Def Leppard) TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN from this same concert! 🤘🤘
This whole concert is great if you wanna just watch it in your personal time ( it was broadcasted live to an audience of over a billion people !!! ). Everyone was here, some were really close with Freddie and Queen like Elton John, Tony Iommi, Joe Eliot, Robert Plant etc and some were really big fans so wanted to pay their respects to Freddie like Axl Rose, Metallica etc. Regarding the whole thing, Robert Plant said that I don't think people realise so many of us all are changing notes because no one can do what Freddie did. Even George Michael who stole the fucking show said he was changing notes to sing.
There are a number of great moments during that Freddie Tribute Concert. Personally, I loved Annie Lennox scaring the sh!t out of David Bowie, but it's worth watching the whole thing thru sometime. ;)
There's no doubt that James did a great job on this, but the song selection isn't as random as you are making it out to be. Metallica covered "Stone Cold Crazy" on the Elektra 40th Anniversary collection 2 years prior. They chose the song because it was one of their favorites. Extreme did a great medley of Queen songs earlier in the concert that you should check out. If you review it, make sure to get the whole Extreme set including "Love Of My Life" & "More Than Words" added at the end.
If you look very very carefully you may be able to see me in the crowd wearing a thinner mans clothes! It was an awesome day! You should checkout George Micheal doing Somebody to Love from this day,
Don’t really know Metallica but this kinda works for me don’t know the guy with the black moustache I guess Queen influenced a lotta bands then this video was really good lots of people at that venue that was cwl
Nice reaction guys. But... I think I heard you say that Metallica is not respected anymore. You guys must have been living under a rock the last couple of years. No one is bigger than Metallica right now. They have been on tour for a long time, selling out stadiums and breaking records. I just saw them at Tons of Rock in Oslo, Norway. They are in very good shape and they play really well. They also add many high quality videos from their shows on their RUclips channel. Please check it out. Their stage setup for the 72 seasons tour is also insane.
100% they are still getting the love they rightly deserve today! We meant younger people maybe 22 under thanks to Tiktok etc see them as a ‘meme band’ and don’t realise these guys have been at the top for decades - All they ever see are complications of Lars mistakes! But totally agree they are still killing it and are very well respected by the people who appreciate good music!
Are you sure? As a young boy Freddie had piano lessons, was part of the school choir and joined the school band. I was part of a choir, too, and had a lot of lessons and voice trainings ...
Brian’s playing is so efficient. Fingers hardly seem to move and yet a lot happens.
I was at that concert, the drum & bass shook my body. As did I want it all, which was sung by Roger Daltrey, that one really shook me to the bones
That's awesome, how concerts should be!
Freddie - 1!!!!!

We will have to check out George Michael singing Somebody to love then!
I was at this gig. Phenomenal.
James Hetfield absolutely nails this live version.
youve got to watch a few more from the memorial concert

I was lucky enough to be there.
Very jealous

NOBODY touches Freddie, not then, not now, not ever.

Gary cherone from extreme nailed hammer to fall at this concert

This performance was a precursor for 1992. remember the Montreal debacle, right?

Metallica won a Grammy for their cover of "Stone Cold Crazy'. The song is often stated as Trash Metal 10 years before Thrash.

Adam Lambert does a good version of this.
We will have to watch it!
Just to let you know - Freddie never had any voice training.
Are you sure? As a young boy Freddie had piano lessons, was part of the school choir and joined the school band. I was part of a choir, too, and had a lot of lessons and voice trainings ...
@@JohnHazelwood58 I have read that in many publications and I remember Brian saying that too.
@@JohnHazelwood58 You can Google this. Check it out.
@@JohnHazelwood58 You are right he might have received some lessons, because he was in the church choir.
