    Excellent camera for that ethereal look when shooting macro shots of wild flowers and fungi, the D700 sensor was built for this job and is second to none.

      Interesting! Macro is something I haven't tried with this camera, I have the 105mm Micro-Nikkor so I should give it a try!

    nice video 🙂
    I love my D700 and shoot it mainly with my 105mm f2.8G micro Nikkor - the greatest lens of all time in my opinion!
    I've also just got a lovely 17-35 f2.8D lens for it. Can't wait to get out and shoot some land / seascapes with it 🙂

      Thanks! I also use the 105mm micro but the AF-D version, definitely the best short tele I've used!

    Is it worth buying in 2024? How much should it cost and should you pay attention to the mileage of the camera? What do you think - what is the maximum mileage it should be? And what lens would be the most universal at a low price, so that it could zoom several times?
    Maybe there are some other suggestions worth considering? I'm looking for a used camera for $250-400 and I'm wondering whether an older FULLFRAME or a newer APS-C one is better.

    • @mikaelrphoto
      @mikaelrphoto  3 месяца назад +1

      Newer aps-c are generally better, among other things they have more advanced sensors (CMOS-BSI). The biggest limitation of the D700 is the 12mp resolution, but it can still plenty enough for many purposes. Anything under 100k shots should be fine, avoid cameras that have been in professional use (unless you can get them for very cheap). Around 300 euros for a ~50k one would be a good price. When it comes to lenses, any Nikkor lens with a stabilizer should be fine (with only 12mp it doesn't need super sharp lenses). Older AF & AF-D era lenses are also fine and can be found for very cheap.

      @@mikaelrphoto Thanks! I think now more about APC-S. Fujifilm XT-20 seems to be very very good? What do you think?
      And what price for it is good?

    • @mikaelrphoto
      @mikaelrphoto  3 месяца назад

      The Fujifilm cameras are very good. I haven't used the X-T20 but it has the same sensor as the X-T2, which is one of my favorite cameras. I'm not sure about the price, the Fuji prices have gone up a lot recently. Check the Sold listings on Ebay to see what people are willing to pay for them nowadays.

    The results from this camera seem quite good. I have what I'd call the Canon equivalent to this Nikon D700 the Canon Rebel XT with 12MP, and it works quite well for my purposes.

    • @mikaelrphoto
      @mikaelrphoto  10 месяцев назад

      Rebel XT, as in the EOS 350D? Its only 8mp though.

    • @powpow99

      @@mikaelrphotoYou are correct. The Canon Rebel XT is only a maximum of 8 Megapixels, but to me the cameras are built very similarly. I haven't seen a huge difference in quality from an 8MP camera to a 12MP camera at least when looking at photos online. But perhaps an upgrade from my current SLR, the Canon Rebel XT, would be a good idea.
      On a separate topic. I actually like the lo-fi look of my photos when shooting inexpensive point & shoot 35mm film cameras and disposable cameras.

    Wrong, The D700 wasn’t introduced until July 2008 …the D300 was released in August 2007 (I know, I bought very early copies of each).
