I've been laid off 2x as well. Every corporate job I've had since graduating college, I was laid off from. It's triggering, I never feel safe. Glad you're turning your lemons into lemonade bc yeah it really sucks sometimes. I think you'll do great! Never seen your channel before this video but you seem great!

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your content, transparency, vulnerability, honesty, and courage. It's truly refreshing to see someone who is unafraid to share their genuine self and experiences with the world. I'm so glad to have discovered you, and I find your authenticity incredibly inspiring.
In a world where so many online personalities present themselves as gurus or flaunt material wealth, it's a breath of fresh air to follow someone like you. Your willingness to be open and real is a rare and valuable gift, and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to watch some of your videos on this first day of the year.
Thank you for being a beacon of authenticity and for sharing your journey with us. Wishing you continued success and fulfillment in all that you do.
    Warm regards, Alex

No, this is literally me right now! I also have ADHD and comment issues. That said, I always think of RUclips as a part-time job or procrastinate most of the time to create content. I've been unemployed for 6 months now. It takes so much effort to create content and its processes. I'm also trying to be more consistent and post once a week here. Good luck to us!

It is so interesting, I almost feel like the traditional corporate job market as we know it is slowly going away. My parents called me this week saying 'we read about lay offs, you should really look for a job' - which kind of makes no sense to me, if corporate jobs are so uncertain, maybe we are right to seek stability somewhere else.

I'm looking forward to seeing your channel grow. I'm also on the same path and I'm going to go all in with my RUclips channel (not this account) in 2024 while working on the side. Don't let any self-doubt slow you down. I remind myself all the time that there are RUclipsrs who could have started a channel 10 years ago and have gotten a large following by now but they waited. We're not going to wait until 2034 to go all in! The time is now. You being laid off is a blessing in disguise. Also, your honesty and candid moments are the best parts of your channel... so you should definitely harness that in the future. Best of luck!

I literally had this conversation in my head yesterday, except, I want to quit my corporate job. I used to think that I could fully focus on youtube only once I had an income that could be considered sustainable (at least for rent) but I slowly realized that my tolerance to put up with institutions and people who are not aligned with my vision is closer to zero lately and I am entering my "f everyone I am doing what I want and I will make it work" era. Also, I believe people really like you for who you are so having a niche can help you with coming up with content ideas but ultimately, YOU are the reason why people are coming back, don't overthink it. Excited for this new journey of yours! Can't wait to see more 🌟

I’m so happy I stumbled upon your video. Thank you for sharing your working journey. I can relate to much of your frustration. I’ve been laid off several times from sales jobs in banking, none due to performance. Corporate America isn’t where I belong, but earning a living took priority over happiness. I’ve taken at least two jobs I wasn’t enthusiastic about, and paycuts, just to stay employed. I lost a flexible recruiting job last February and still can’t find work. I just turned 50 and recruiters always compliment my experience, but still pass. I’m struggling terribly and feel that the rejection is a push to start my own business. I decided to become a broker for the state. I’m constantly doubting my decision to stop looking for work, because getting clients is a slow go due to hippa laws. I have faith this will work out, even though it’s not a fast start. You are never too old to reinvent yourself.

    Had the same thoughts.
I left my job for a very big offer in another state in July 2021. I quit my last job I had worked for 4 years that was recession proof to start this new job…I got laid off January 2023 from the tech bust, in the process I stayed a business.
I ended up getting another job in April 2023 and lost it in October 2023. I have now moved back to my home state and considering going back to my old job I left and feeling so ashamed.
I have been unemployed ever since and just focusing on my small business that has been moving slowly and growing and I want to start content creation about my business.
I realised that the road to success isn’t a straight path, learned a lot in 2023 about this and no longer ashamed. I really do wish you the best.

The "practical side" of me suggests this exemplifies why people need to do more due diligence in potential career field selections. People need to understand the markets for their chosen fields. Of course there are lots of fields that are "fun" or pique personal interests, but no long term solid earnings prospects. I really feel sympathy for people that chose fields like sociology or social justice; I suspect they will stay very hungry and angry with society, despite self-inflicted.

I'm an 85 year old retired aerospace engineer and a parent and grandparent. My life experience is that the universe rewards action.
Analysis, reflection, planning, preparation are all good things to do. But as my spiritual mentor -- Confucius -- liked to say, "Actions speak louder than words". Or more cruelly, talk is cheap.
OTOH, I've got a lot of experience with failure; the concomitant pain and fear, the burden and depression, but also the uplifting experience of overcoming the hardships. Like everything else in life, nothing is free and everything has a cost.

So we smarten up and toughen up, hoping for the best; prepared for the worst.
IOW, Be-Thoroughly-Prepared if everything does not go as you had hoped. Using the analogy from a car, there's a reason that it has brakes, a steering wheel, seat belts, headlights, and all the other things designed to make driving a safer experience for you.
Like a business plan, make a detailed career plan. Then run it by someone like in HR who is the field that you aspire to.
      Work hard.
      I wish you the best.

Maybe I’m on the “outside looking in.” Why would you take a vacation after being laid off? If you had a very significant emergency fund, I guess that would be fine?

I’m from the US and here we only get 2 weeks of vacation with corporate jobs 😅 so the only way to do any long term travel is between jobs

@@WesleyAnna I’m from the United States also. I definitely was not trying to be insensitive. It sucks getting laid off. If you got laid off, and then had another job that you are getting ready to start, by all means, go on vacation. Like I said, “I’m on the outside looking in.”
      I wish you luck!

America has so many restrictions, and possible lawsuits that it is hard to be as creative on RUclips as possible unlike in my country, Philippines. If you look at Filipino RUclipsrs, they have millions of subscribers, and their channel is just brimming with creativity be it fashion, travel or even out of this world humor. No political correctness that hinders them. No lawsuits to worry about. They are free to do and think what they want to think as long as it does not involve murder or scam, it’s all good.

I wonder why she got laid off? She is focusing on making RUclips videos instead of refining and upgrading her skills at the office so she can provide more and greater service to the company. She is focusing on building relationships with RUclips subscribers instead of building relations with upper management. She is lazy. look at her.
She probably told people at work that she has outside projects. Which is unwise!! Don't bring personal life to your career!
Who wants a worker like her??? Of Course she would never admit it and will blame everyone but herself.....
I have worked in the corporate world over 25 years and have never been laid off! Company bosses appreciate " Perceived" loyalty and if they think you have outside projects going on they feel as though you are distracted and not fully vested in the company!! ... Just look at her talking about the last job she failed at!... she doesn't even admit the role she played in causing the company/firm to be less interested in her... look forward to more layoffs buddy!!!

My entire org was dissolved soon after. Can’t really impress your CEO when they don’t even work there anymore. 😬 But more importantly…
Sometimes companies do use layoffs to terminate workers without having to give reason-and it’s totally possible this was a sly way to get rid of me. I’ll never know. So can’t really take responsibility for something that was never communicated to me if that’s the case.
The larger issue here is blaming employees for layoffs. Attack my character all you want but I know plenty of hardworking and dedicated people have lost their jobs due to no fault of their own in the past year, and telling someone that it’s due to their own laziness and not corporate greed is damaging, unfair, and frankly untrue. And FWIW, the hours I’ve spent building up an online presence is exactly what’s allowed me to keep paying rent.
I personally know someone who worked in the corporate world for 25+ years without a hiccup, had stellar reviews at the world’s most coveted companies, and spent their entire life dedicating 80 hours/week to work. Guess what? She was laid off. No one is immune.
