  • Best Single Track in Georgia is located at Highland Park Resort in CedarTown, Georgia! Trail 36 is a 5 Diamond trail that is Gnarly and the GoPro footage does this trail no justice. Had a blast riding here for the first time and can’t wait to go back ! This trail has some really steep climbs and a lot of off camber sections.

Word of advice, try not to have both feet on the ground when trying to get traction. One foot on the peg as often as possible! Keep your suspension weighted and you'll get lots of traction.

I wear safety glasses in technical riding. Much less fog, better airflow, less heat and I'm usually not worried about roost or sticks much because of the low speeds. I just keep a set of them in my hydration pack now.

Absolutely! I told my buddy Brian when we do stuff like that I’ll also have a pair of safety glasses from now on! I actually lost my goggles the next day in Alabama? 😥

When you got to the hill, instead of taking the rock garden, you crossed over to the left, and went up on trail 37 (as @endurowarrior said) Trail 37 runs parallel to 36, but in the opposite direction. You picked the easier line that way, but I don’t blame you. Navigating the rock garden on 36 is probably the toughest obstacle at HP, except for maybe the steep hill on 14 (a 6 diamond). Nice job. And you're right, GoPros don't do the terrain justice.

Thanks for the info. We are from Michigan and didn’t really know that we missed the trail until a few of you on here told us. We are actually going back this January so hoping to ride it again and do better this time, thanks for watching!

Video looks great! Interesting your trail rating system is different than ours. Black diamond is our hardest but they very dramatically I've also seen red diamond which is suppose to be extremely difficult. Your system seems to make more sense than ours.

These trails are actually in Georgia and I’m from Michigan. We just went down to get out of the snow. Kind of why I was falling all the time, just completely different than what I’m used to riding.

This was my first ever ride in the Gnar! I'm from Michigan the land of Deep Sand and Miles of Whoops, to say I struggled would be an understatement! I definitely learned a lot riding here and can’t wait to get back! Feel free to leave me tips/suggestions or even bash me for the way I rode this trail. Watch till the end because when I’m done struggling the rest of the trail is pretty sweet, hope you enjoy! Disclaimer: this video doesn’t do this trail any Justice, it was way harder than it looks!

You are so right about the GoPro flattening out the view. Good vid! Yep, Highland Park is an excellent introduction to tire width bench cut trails on steep hills. Excellent training for Colorado and Idaho mountain trails. Especially since if you go off trail in most places a tree will catch your bike before hitting the creek at the bottom.

Sitting here drinking my morning coffee tensing up making faces at the monitor letting out gutteral sounds. Man I feel ya. Florida here so flat and sandy is what I'm used to. Joined a group based outta Knoxville area (Dixieland Dual Sport) and the first ride I did with these guys nearly killed me! Was very much like this but up in the Cherokee NF below the Cherohala Skyway area. I had a wr250r at the time and was prone to stalling as well cuz Florida is flat and this ain't that!

    • @Captain250FX

So true! Cherohala is a beautiful area! Been through there many times on my road bike but never ridden off road in that area.

Very Nice! I knew you could do it. If you stay lower on that trail where the rocks are nasty you get a whole different route and end of the trail

You guys should force yourself to only kick start. I guarantee you will find that your clutch control will improve dramatically. I know you struggled but you looked good doing it and learned from it. Hey, at least it wasn't raining on all those roots. Great video!

Yes, where you went straight up the hill, it actually goes right up the rocky section. You hopped on 37 at the top and did it backwards.
