In the books, by this time Lestat had drunk(drank?) from the Queen of the Damned, meaning he was very powerful and extremely strong. Also, when a vampire burns, you must spread the ashes away from each other to prevent the vampire from coming back. So even if Louis had burned Lestat, he would have come back to life, based on 2 reasons Anne Rice gave in her books. If the show follows any of this, it would have still worked. @@triciaramgoolam4045 Not to be pedantic, but just for accuracy's sake....Lestat was also turned by some ancient nutjob vampire that'd never turned anyone, basically the vampire gene lottery. The age and number of people you turn supposedly both big factors in how powerful your spawn becomes. I'd compare it to the difference between winning the lottery and winning the powerball. It's brought up in a few of the books iirc, definitely in The Vampire Lestat (only one worth reading aside from Interview imho).
On a side note, I fucking love how Lestat ends up being "turned". First off is randomly picked by this crazy powerful vampire, who's presumably been insane for quite some time, seeing how his castles basement/dungeon is just this massive pile of corpses of the poor people he's killed over the centuries/millenia possibly. The cherry on top being how he basically treats it like the ultimate prank. Kidnaps Lestat, throws him in the body room, comes back and turns him, says literally nothing and then immediately jumps in the raging inferno body pile, manically laughing and not even wishing Lestat luck.

I adore this scene. The culmination of Louis' whole character arc throughout the season because it truly lays bare how Louis never changed, let alone got better. "I have a cooler, stronger, older husband-daddy this time, and he's fixed me." He rejects so many opportunities to stand up for something and improve his unlife. Despite all the hardships he's faced, despite the grief and self repression he's suffered as a gay black man in a racist, homophobic world, he's still a resentful rich boy who only self-reflects under duress that affects him personally and will lash out about it if he can.
He's guilty and uncomfortable about the idea of his loved ones being literal serial killers but at no point does he take any kind of stand or ultimatum about it. Before he was a Vampire he was already a vampire: a slumlord pimp and enabler of addictive vices, whose wealth came from *sugarcane plantations* and he never tried to find a better way for himself then.
Louis is a complex, tragic, terrible person, and he's fascinating. Jacob Anderson should have won an award for this performance.

I'm excited to see how terrifying Armand is gonna be in season 2. The writers did this for a reason and it wasn't to give Louis a happy ending. Readers know who Armand is and what he's like. I mean, he DOES love Louis in his own twisted way, and has always been very protective. I think we're going to see where that goes wrong in the next season, rather than it being another thing Louis recounts. Instead l, they're gonna let it play out in front of us outside of the story. Chill guys, they have plans for at least two more seasons, there is so much more to get through.
For all the people mad that they twisted Anne Rice's characters: she worked on the first season WITH them before she passed. She was excited about this show, from what I've seen quoted in articles. You're mad that Louis is black, but in the book, page 148, he literally says he's Creole. Even if he hadn't and it was purely a creative choice on the show writers' part, there is such thing as creative freedom, and the writers are allowed to twist the narrative a little, or a lot, to fit their vision. I'm personally very excited to see what they do with it, because we all know it's gonna keep going downhill and past rock bottom.

They have the rights to all the Vampire Chronicles and I think they’re planning this Immortal Universe to cover almost of not ALL the books, plus it’s interweaving with the Mayfair Witches etc. So it’s gonna be more than just two more seasons. My theory is that if book one, based on what I’ve seen, is looking to be covered in 2 seasons of 7 episodes each (s1 had 7 episodes) thats 14 episodes = + or - 13-14 hours in total, which isn’t bad. Book 2 The Vampire Lestat will probably be down the same way, that’s 2 more seasons 3&4. 7 episodes = 14 hours. I’m also counting book 3 cuase they’ve already mentioned clues towards Queen of the Damned in the s1 dialogue. So book 3 Queen of the Damned, 2 more seasons seasons 4&5 of 13-14 episodes that’s 14 hours or maybe 3 seasons because there’s a lot that happens there with more vampire plus the Talamasca etc so 2-3 seasons = seasons 4 5 & 6 = 7 episodes each that’s 21 episodes which =s 20-21 hours to cover a single book. That’s not bad and they’re like 10 more books after that. But I’m just keeping my predictions to up to 3 cause of the clues of what’s coming, plus a clue they showed which references Menoch the Devil which I’m sure that implies they’re gonna cover that book as well and that’s book 5. So more is on the way.

Daniel doesn't remember the night he and Armand met remember that the very strong vampires can remove memories. That being said I do think the devil's minion tale already happened, right after the original interview just like on the books and instead of turning him after 12 years together, Armand erased Daniel's memory of their time together and he was trying to get him to remember by being in close proximity while pretending to be human

Daniel is personally my favorite character besides Lestat. Since Eric can't go to the other amazing sets and wear dazzling costumes, he is pressured to hold his own in the scenes that he has with Jacob and Assad. He's not only hilarious but he's very witty. You can't pull the wool over Daniel's eyes. He calls BS in a heartbeat. The major difference between Daniel and every other character is having lived a long life as a human being, and experiencing every stage of human life and enduring a chronic illness. As powerful as Lestat is and as grand as immortality appears to be, he along with the other vampires will never know what it truly means to grow old as a human. In the movie "Troy," Achilles explains it quite beautifully: "The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again." Daniel has reached his personal apex as a journalist, so you have to assume he's chronicled countless other human lives and d*** good at his job. Daniel is unique, because in a way, he knows more about human life than Lestat and Armand. Now that he has interviewed Louis, Daniel can now methodically ask, what's more meaningful, to be a vampire and potentially live for centuries or to live a full human life?
Who else thought that Eric's portrayal of Daniel was eerily similar to Anthony Bourdain?

I think what we're forgetting is that Louis and Lestat have a love hate relationship. As much as Louis wants to hate Lestat. He simply can't. After all, Lestat was the one that made Louis realize that nearly everyone in his human life was using him. Lestat gave Louis the choice to either be a vampire, to die, or to continue living his life as a human. Lestat took away Louis suffering from the death of his brother (death of his family in the original story). Yes Lestat did a lot of bad things to Louis, but you can't just purely hate someone that in the long run has help you out. It's a love hate relationship between the two. And I think there's things Louis can admit that he was in the wrong rather than Lestat. For example with the turning of Claudia, (in the show) Lestat told him it was a bad idea but Louis begged Lestat to turn her. You can feel Lestat's anger as he felt like the 3rd wheel. Nobody wants to feel like a 3rd wheel especially in a family. And in a way I could understand his behavior when Claudia and Louis were gonna up right just leave him. Idk, I just think that both (technically all three) parties are at fault. But that's the thing with relationships especially toxic ones. People treat each other awful but in the long run they've also helped each other. Idk. I just found their relationship in this show very interesting as it resembles how toxic relationships are. How relationships are in general lol.

I don't think either of them really love Louie. I think that as immortals they get stuck in their time frame. Set in their ways. They bring new vampires into the circle so they can be brought up to date. Since Louie had his humanity intact he may be more capable of going with the flow of time, more so then other vampires. It's like Louie said to Armand in the movie, "you want me to quicken you once more" I just think most vampires in Rice's universe are users

I watch this video over and over again, and after the surprise of "who rashid is", focusing on Louis, I feel like he's desperate...
when he "presents" Armand, the sad music, Armand's icy gaze, Louis' more than frozen smile presenting him as "the love of his life", I have the impression that he is screaming at us help!!!"
like Daniel, I don't understand this desire to make a book with a story where a lot of things are missing... but isn't Louis calling for help, there?!

@@runningbear6391 simple, because this is kind of an AU. It does follow the book somewhat, but not completely. In the book, Louis owns slaves. The 1994 movie followed that as well, but did change it with him having a wife that died in childbirth with the infant. That was the first AU. This would be the second one, which mostly follows the book with Louis's brother falling to his death (I am still convinced either Armand or Lestat did it, and I have a very good reason why), his sister getting married, and his father dead making him head of house. However, in this AU, he is a pimp and Lestat takes a liking to him. And in this one, Lestat doesn't really give Louis a choice like he did in either the book or the first AU. In this one, Lestat basically coerces Louis to become a vampire. Unlike in the book and first AU, this AU's Louis didn't have a choice. He was manipulated into becoming a vampire. I think that if Lestat didn't use his powers on him or anything, I think Louis would have rather stayed human. This is speculation on my part though, but I doubt that he would have consented to being a vampire if Lestat didn't influence him.
But yeah, as long as you see it as an AU of the original story and not as the story itself, it's actually pretty cool.

I have a theory that David is working with lestat to free Louis from Armond. Cause in the book Armond has a crazy obsession with Louis to the point of killing Claudia in a pretty horrific way. Curious if they will bring in Daniel and the talamaska for season 2. Although I can see them waiting on the talamaska until they bring in akasha. Guess it depends on how much of the books they plan to stick with before they go off on their own.

Well Daniel called Louis out one his bullshit. He really is still the pimp from storyville. Daniel probably knew when he got there that there was a moderate chance he will be killed (Remember, the guy has parkinsons, he had nothing to lose at this point). Given Louis temper, Daniel constantly pressing his buttons, goading him into taking his life. He seems calm considering Armand openly says he wont save him this time.
