- Motor is a 5.3 with a truck Norris cam and valve springs, ported 862 heads, Long tube headers, trail blazer ss intake manifold. Took 3 months to swap the motor, bought a 2007 5.3 and 4l80e out of a express van. Tore down the motor and converted to gen 4. Pulled the crank shaft and swapped the reluctor wheel for the gen 4 one. Put all back together with gen 4 timing cover and oil pan. On stock fuel pump but the truck has 3.08 gear ratio in the rear 😭. Those gotta go
They say happy people live a lot of years. If i get to a point in life where every morning i drink my coffee listening to that idle I’ll get to live past 100
🤙🏾
I'm right there with you. Ride around with the windows down.
😂
"Let me open the cutouts"
I was like, that's with it closed?🤯
Yeah she’s a little loud 😂
@@aidenthiesen9001 lmao is that the 40 series muffler that’s what I have on mine doing long tubes n no cats guess mine will be louder than expected 😭
@@270WeekendWarrior yeah ahah it’s definitely not quite 😂
Which cam ? Stage 2 or 3
Best sounding cam hands down ! , Stock stall converter ? If so how did it feel at stops ?
@@joshuasanchez3700 I ran a stock converter for about a year. Worked fine. Was tight obviously but drove and stopped no problem. Now I have a 3200 stall converter and works great
Dude badass! The sound, the swaps, everything! Good simple vid!
Appreciate it!
Cool truck hard to find a SB Sierra that body style. That's what I want next I had a 03 4.3 cleanest body ever but i had so many mechanical problems with it I sold it
Yeah they are nice little trucks
I have a 04 sc short bed I'm doing a swap on it right now(4.3 to 5.3) i can't w8 til it's done.
Ported heads are the last piece of the puzzle for me. Did a lot change when you put them on? Estimated gains?
Hoping I won't need a retune immediately. Deshrouding the chamber will affect compression slightly
@@guitarguy3221 I went from a v6 to the v8 with mods so I wasn’t able to compare it to anything. I think if you have a cam and headers, ported heads just add in to the compounding affect of all the mods. I’m sure you’ll pick up something decent
Sounds good brother was running a similar setup on a 6.0 5speed 01 hd with the truck Norris on 60lb injectors looking at doing a 4door 06 with a 6.0 now with a t56 or cd009 trans
I have a 04 2500hd 6.0 5speed. I’ve been thinking about getting a cam. How did the truck Norris cam perform in your 01?
@@coltonibbotson3644 truck Norris is the best bang for ur buck n sounds great upgrade ur springs n lifters n do the trunion upgrade truck will be badass
What did you open to get that deeper sound? Did you say cut out?
How hard was it to do the 4l80 swap
There are a couple ways of doing it. I rewired my harness. It wasn’t easy
@@aidenthiesen9001 that's what I was afraid of
@@RYoung09yea watch some of sloppy mechanics stuff on 80e swaps
There is a couple of ways to do it depends on what you looking for and how you wanna use it and if you have access to tuning or not
I wired my 4l80e to run standalone and not need tuning or harness B4 I got hp tuners runs full line pressure and full manual control this way makes for some good firm shifts I bark second gear even on 42s
Did you have to tune it twice with the cut out open and closed? And any noticeable difference in power when it’s open or closed?
No it’s the same when it’s open and closed. There’s probably a very small difference but not enough to change the tune
What did you need for the cam swap? Lifters? pushrods? Springs?, thanks! Sounds awesome!
I did the cam, valve springs, and valve stem seals. on stock lifters and pushrods.
@@aidenthiesen9001 everything still running smooth?
@@pablocovarrubias3315 yes just hit 4000 km on the motor since the swap and i beat on her everyday and she loves it
Where did you put the cut out? 2 or just 1 and before or after cats, sounds beautiful!
Cut out is just after the y pipe. I have long tubes and no cats. One cut out
What stage is that cam?
Just curious what made you convert to Gen 4 and not stay Gen 3? I'm building an LQ4 currently but am planning on just staying gen 3 because it's much simpler to tune. Interested to hear on why you wanted to switch.
The computer and wiring in the 2007-2013 trucks are gen 4. Therefore I needed to convert to have the system read the engine. If you’re not putting it in a factory vehicle and running the factory computer there’s no need to convert.
@@aidenthiesen9001 Ah yes of course lol. Thanks for the reply dude! Awesome build.
@@bagged68C10 thanks man !! Good luck w yours !
How's it run did you notice a big difference with the cam? I bought same cam and vvt delete kit.
I had a v6 before and swapped everything at once so I didn’t have a difference to compare the cam but it runs awesome couldn’t be happier. It sounds soo good
Sounds awesome. Which cam is it don't they have different ones under the truck norris name? Thanks
Mines the one that requires springs
Link or brand to the electric cutout?
Truck sounds amazing!
How's the drivabilty with this cam?
It’s awesome. Drives like a normal truck if your tuner knows what he’s doing
@@aidenthiesen9001 my friend and I were debating this and I was figuring it had to be tuned right. Thank you for responding!
This setup sounds sick!
What ecm are you running? Sounds awesome 👌🏼
I’m running a 2010 e38
maybe get a flowmaster super 10? Would sound rlly aggresive
Yea I gotta mess around with different mufflers
Bet spin tech would sound good!
If you want the factory oil pressure gauge and voltage meter you can take a speedometer from a truck that has it and it’ll plug right in
I was thinking about it but my odometer would be wrong that’s all. And I mean yes it’s swapped but kinda want it to be true to the chassis
@@aidenthiesen9001 there’s a site that makes them number match
Original converter? Is that a custom tune? That idle is really nice. Sweet truck
It was stock converter for about a year. And yes custom tuned
Did you go with a colder spark plug than stock and did you go with a colder thermostat?
No both stock
@@aidenthiesen9001 ok thank you, l will starting my cam swap soon👍
Would u say this cam is better or worse to the bfd cam
I would love to put two of them in my boat
What spark plug wires did you use? I have 10 year old pacesetter headers and AC delco plug wire boots rub on cylinder 4 and 6 header tubes. Have to do a little zip tie action to get them off
www.summitracing.com/parts/ado-748vv got them on summit
@@aidenthiesen9001what spark plugs are you. Running in have the same cam and spring setup with ls7 lifters 3/4 longtube headers on a 07 Tahoe
Was the 4l80 swap hard??
Not the worst. Wasn’t easy
Nice truck bro ! Just popped in my v8 with the same cam to my truck as well and i cant wait till its done 💪🏼💯💯
That’s sweet right on !
that thing is clean! sounds good, too. are you running a stock 4L80? I've got an 02 with a 6.0/4L80 and i'm thinking of doing this cam as well
Yes stock trans. I replaced the internal wiring harness and bumped up the shift pressures in the tune. No shift kit. Takes abuse everyday. Never have an issue
I have a very similar setup going in my 01 s10. Out of curiosity, what kind of HP/Torque are you putting down?
I haven’t dyno tuned the truck yet so I’m not sure. I’d assume around 300 tire
Sounds sweet! When you get a chance, send a link of that cam with the springs.
briantooleyracing.com/btr-truck-cam-kit.html cheers !
@@aidenthiesen9001 what size springs did you get
What did u do for the gen 3 to gen 4 swap?
I swapped out the crank for a 58x and timing sprocket for a gen4, swapped starter for a gen4 plug in style starter tapped and drilled side holes on the block for the knock sensors and swapped all gen4 sensors but used gen3 coil packs that came on the lm7 and swapped in the complete intake manifold, dowloaded a gen4 5.3 tunefile for first start and tuned it on the road and it fired right up sounded nasty mean, might missed some stuff but its pretty simple just use oem sensors or you might be chasing problems with aftermarket ones.
@@ernestorodriguez8228 nice wrk
@@jaybyrd8592 swapped the reluctor wheel with a 58x, relocated knock sensors to side of block, I got all gen 4 toppings, intake, fuel, tb, you need to move cam gear sensors to the front timing cover instead of behind the intake, if your putting in a gmt900 like my truck you also need a gen 4 oil pan. Gen 3 won’t clear the support underneath.
Is it tuned in this video?
Your rich AF on idle bro. 12.5 is PE! Get her tuned and put a 3.90 in it! Clean truck!
I know 😭i fixed fuelling and added a bunch of timing since the vid. I’m getting 4.11s
Rich is far better than lean
@@sharpoutdoors3368 Your cylinder walls/piston rings would disagree with you. At WOT you're correct but at idle it's a different deal.
Was the trailblazer SS intake actually smaller?
Tbss intake is the same as the 07-13 intakes
Sounds amazing
Stock torque converter? How’s it drive?
Drove on stock converter for a year. It was fine driving, but for performance I needed a converter bad. Put a 3200 stall in it and it’s a lot better. Stock converter is fine tho
What’s your set up bro ? Just got this cam and wanna make mine sould like that
It’s just a set of long tube headers going to a 3 inch cut out. Or through a flowmaster 40 out the rear
Just had this cam put in my suburban and dyno tuned. I got 302 hp and 320 tq at the wheels, which I'm quite happy with, but it idles like absolute shit and dies frequently. What did you have to do to get it to idle well? My truck has been at the shop for over a week now waiting for them to sort out the idle issue.
I tuned this truck myself and have messed with the idle a bunch. Adjusting the adaptive idle is a pain. Not sure how I can help you. It would most likely need a retune
@@aidenthiesen9001 Thanks for the reply. i guess i'll just have to wait for the shop to figure it out. Kinda frustrating considering it did so well on the dyno.
@@dammitcarl1082yeah definitely frustrating I’d want that thing back as soon as possible, good luck ! You said yours make just over 300 tire on the dyno? I haven’t put mine on the dyno yet but hoping to be in that area. What set up are you running? Heads, intake, etc?
@@aidenthiesen9001 I’m running the truck norris with BTR beehive springs and trunnion upgrade, LS7 lifters and trays, stock truck intake, K&N CAI, long tube headers, cat delete, magnaflow 12259 muffler. Trans is a built 4L60E and the engine is an L59 5.3. Ran pretty strong. The shop suspects a vacuum leak as the cause of the poor idle, possibly injector O rings. Hopefully it’s something simple like that!
@@aidenthiesen9001 with the TBSS intake and ported heads you’ll definitely make well over 300 tire. It’s a sweet setup you got there dude 👍
How did you make it a gen 4 with the 58x and get the gauges to work wen the truck is a gen 3
Are you talking about the relucter wheel? I swapped a gen 4 58x relucter wheel onto the crank
Well that just solidified it based on the cutout sounds, I’m getting a truck Norris for my 5.3 🤣 goddam that sounds good
Haha yea don’t get much better sounding then this. Enjoy it !
I'm fixing to get hp tuners and start acquiring parts to delete the afm. That cam sounds sick!
That’s sweet!, thanks man
What parts you need for the cam set up
Will you make a breakdown video
Where did you get it tuned ?
Who did your tune?
My cousin w Hp tuners
Are you running a factory torque /stall converter??
Yes factory 4l80e converter
Your tuning e85 ??
Eventually. Need to do fuel pump and ethanol content sensor
what stage is the cam?
Nice truck. Im running the truck norris in mine as well. Love it
This is fucking awesome I'm looking to do a cam swap and tune on mty 2011 chevy just curious what you'd say the total cost was roughly if you don't mind
It totally depends how you do it. I did a cam swap and the valve springs. I also changed the lifter trays and lifters. It all depends how in depth u wanna go. It also depends if your engine has vvt or dod. You would have to delete those. That I didn’t have to do so I’m not sure on price for that. All in I was probably about 1000$ for my parts. Did everything myself. Reused head bolts and head gaskets
Feel like ive seen this at ufv, didnt have time to ask about the set up though! Love the truck
yea man I am taking some classes there, next time u see me come say hi ill show you !
which flowmaster 40 is this? lol there’s a lot
Not sure it’s a 3 inch single in to a dual 2.5 inch out muffler
Love how it sounds but tbh if it ain’t a classic the sound doesn’t go with the body if that makes sense
Does the truck Norris cam work on an LM4 5.3 without the Aluminum like the LM7
Lm7 is not aluminum. Cast iron. The l33 is the aluminum. Yes cam will work
@@aidenthiesen9001 yes it cast iron.
Sounds real good!!
Respect. Thanks for sharing.
🤘
Bro what exact model of exhaust are you running?
I have a set of metallic long tube headers a 3 inch cutt out or through a flowmaster 40 muffler to duals dump behind axle.
What pushrods?
Stock
Nice! Sounds awesome!
Thanks!
Running same setup with pushrods lifters and trunion upgrade and valves upgraded 2.00in on intake
Sweet! What you revving it out to ?
Oowweeee that truck sounds nice
is this a 4/6 drop?
5/7
Nice bump!
Nice machine
What size Torque Converter are you running?
on stock converter currently
Nice truck,sounds cool.
Thanks 👍
What's a good cam for a 2005 6.0L stock
I got headers and intake with gears and built Trans just stock engine
Btr or texas speed
Ya, you might want to hold onto that truck, there is no new truck that can compete with it in any way.
Yeah I love this truck
dont all 07+nnbs have gen 4 blocks ? if it had a gen 3 block someone did a ghetto swap lol
Yes they come with gen 4. I converted the motor to gen four. Pulled the crank and swapped the reluctor wheel and did the front end. Did everything factory and rewired the harness for adjustments.
Mfer is bad ass dude🤟🏻
