This is my truck I’ve been building for the past year. It was born a v6 and I did a v8 swap as well as a 4l80e swap. Some vids of what I’ve done with it. Motor is a 5.3 with a truck Norris cam and valve springs, ported 862 heads, Long tube headers, trail blazer ss intake manifold. Took 3 months to swap the motor, bought a 2007 5.3 and 4l80e out of a express van. Tore down the motor and converted to gen 4. Pulled the crank shaft and swapped the reluctor wheel for the gen 4 one. Put all back together with gen 4 timing cover and oil pan. On stock f...

4.10 and 3200 stall

@@benlongoria8057 sweet man ! The 4l80e is so solid. I beat the crap outta this thing and she takes it no problem. Only thing I did to the trans was bump up the shift pressure in the tune.

@@joshuasanchez3700 I ran a stock converter for about a year. Worked fine. Was tight obviously but drove and stopped no problem. Now I have a 3200 stall converter and works great

How much would you say the after market parts were to make the engine sound like that???
@@2.greedy24 mainly just the cam that gives it the lump. You can get pretty cheap cams that don’t require valve springs or anything

Is this a "natural" idle lope or did the tuner make any changes to make the idle sound different?
@@drockjones1315 it’s tuned. Ever tuner is going to tune it a different way. It’s possible to sound the same but it all depends on how your tuner sets it up. There’s so many things that go into it. Idle rmp, air, fuel, timing, etc mines tuned by my cousin so it’s different for ever truck

Ported heads are the last piece of the puzzle for me. Did a lot change when you put them on? Estimated gains? Hoping I won't need a retune immediately. Deshrouding the chamber will affect compression slightly
@@guitarguy3221 I went from a v6 to the v8 with mods so I wasn’t able to compare it to anything. I think if you have a cam and headers, ported heads just add in to the compounding affect of all the mods. I’m sure you’ll pick up something decent

@@markinsacramentoshow they are metallics long tube headers to a 3 inch exhaust cutt out. Or thu a flow master 40 dual out the back

Just curious what made you convert to Gen 4 and not stay Gen 3? I'm building an LQ4 currently but am planning on just staying gen 3 because it's much simpler to tune. Interested to hear on why you wanted to switch.
The computer and wiring in the 2007-2013 trucks are gen 4. Therefore I needed to convert to have the system read the engine. If you’re not putting it in a factory vehicle and running the factory computer there’s no need to convert.

Did you have to tune it twice with the cut out open and closed? And any noticeable difference in power when it’s open or closed?
No it’s the same when it’s open and closed. There’s probably a very small difference but not enough to change the tune
Sweet! It's been a while now. Still happy with it? My obs is getting a 6.0 swap with this cam and long tube headers, x-pipe and magnaflow knockoffs.
Ohh yeah this thing has been absolutely perfect. Honestly wouldn’t rather any other set up. Your gotta love it in that obs !
@aidenthiesen9001, good to hear! I kinda wish mine was a regular cab short bed, but it'll still be fun in my crew cab. Going from a 310k mile stock 350 to a fresh 6.0 will make me think I'm hot poo! 😂

I don't have the ported heads, and my intake is the stock gen 3 truck. But same cam, lifters, springs, oil pump, rocker arms, 4.10 gears, and long tube headers as you. I do have 44# injectors, and, unfortunately, a 5700 pound, 21 foot long truck! Lol!
@@funvic sweet! Yeah the heads aren’t that big of a hp pick up but the intake is quite a bit. Hey my truck is 4700 lbs. they are all heavy. I’ll tell u what that thing will do the best burnouts that’s for sure. Mine is just a machine man

It totally depends how you do it. I did a cam swap and the valve springs. I also changed the lifter trays and lifters. It all depends how in depth u wanna go. It also depends if your engine has vvt or dod. You would have to delete those. That I didn’t have to do so I’m not sure on price for that. All in I was probably about 1000$ for my parts. Did everything myself. Reused head bolts and head gaskets

How’s yours with tune? I just got mine back from the tuner this week and the hot start isn’t so happy but overall I’m happy with the upgrade, and once the tune is fully figured it’ll be even better
I tuned mine myself and yes it’s been many many adjustments. I mine’s awesome man can’t be happier

Stock torque converter? How’s it drive?
Drove on stock converter for a year. It was fine driving, but for performance I needed a converter bad. Put a 3200 stall in it and it’s a lot better. Stock converter is fine tho

I did em myself. I made a bracket for the afr gauge and same for the oil pressure and mounted it in the dash
How did you make it a gen 4 with the 58x and get the gauges to work wen the truck is a gen 3
Are you talking about the relucter wheel? I swapped a gen 4 58x relucter wheel onto the crank

Yeah it’s a y pipe and then a single in to dual out muffler and then ran over axles
