  • 150 km is an unusual distance for a brevet and it only contributes towards one award but I just ride brevets for fun and this one looks like fun. It's officially 93 miles but this route was 96 and I may have added a few unintentional miles.
It's late October and back in England it's cold and raining with fog and little daylight. Not here - where the sky is blue and the high temperature is around 70F. It started with no wind but the Santa Anas were predicted to hit in the evening and we could feel them in our faces even at 1pm.
I'm not sure how I got lost. I suspect I accidentally edited the route while adding some custom cues. I need to be more careful about that.
I had a 16.3mph average when I left Five Guys, even with my little detour through the undergrowth. Even with the Santa Ana headwinds I still had a 16mph moving average. I spent a total of 20 minutes off the bike.
Twenty six riders started and I think all finished. It was hosted by Matt Vining of PCH Randonneurs on a route designed by Kerin Huber. It's a great route.
