  • PSA...just the camera angle I'm pointing g at the package on the screen, not giving the bird.....lol! let's re-visit the most unspoken about package you can add to the 2024 Chevrolet silverado and GMC Sierra hd 2500 series trucks.....making your 2500, almost a 3500 SRW truck. below is the link to the first. idea I made about it.
remember everyone that some things are and can be restricted or pulled from any custom order. until you pay for it, they can change things as needed.

Currently I own a 2008 Duramax Diesel 2500 Crew cab 4x4 it has 256,000 miles on it and it needs to be replaced. I do not want to deal with the new Diesels the Def and the regens. Because of your channel and content I just took delivery two weeks ago of a 2024 3500 crew 4x4 6.6 gas with the Allison that I custom ordered. It is a beast and I could not be happier I have pulled one large load probably 11,500 plus and the trans temp went up 12 degrees from normal. I am not missing the diesel one bit. Thank You for your content.

I think the sole reason this package exists is for commercial users to be able to stay under 26,000 GCWR and yet still be able to have the 3500 SRW rear suspension setup.
The 2020+ 3500 SRW GM diesel trucks have a 12,100 GVWR (I think 12,250 GVWR if you get a long bed) and that matched with a 14,000 GVWR trailer requires a Class A CDL. This was a complaint with the current 3500s.
So this new max tow package on the 2500 keeps the GVWR below 12,000 and still gives you the bigger 12” ring gear (standard 2500s have an 11.5” ring gear) and rear overload leaf springs. So this way a commercial user wouldn’t need a Class A license to operate the truck since the GCWR of it and a 14,000 GVWR trailer are below 26,000 combined. This same scenario is true for certain states even for personal use because some states require a non commercial Class A license.
As for the gas engine there’s no real reason to offer it because they are all capped at 26,000 GCWR and that doesn’t require a Class A license. Also, even a 3500 gas truck will have an 11.5” ring gear. So if you want the 3500 rear suspension then you might as well just go with a 3500 SRW in the gas trucks.
And the reason this package says 3500 frame is because the 3500s rear frame section has the overloads bump stops bolted to them whereas a 2500 does not. So that is a difference technically.

In some states insurance rates are more expensive with a 3500 considered a comercial vehicle where 2500 isn't but you get the same towing ability.

I own the 2024 2500 Silverado Custom with the Duramax, Max towing package, 20 inch wheels. Already towed my travel trailer from Ohio to South West Florida and back. What a fantastic truck!

I enjoy your videos as I learn a lot. One suggestion as to video quality: the sound level. It sounds like you are recording this with your kids sleeping in the next room and you don’t want to wake them up. Need some additional modulation so we can hear. Maybe an external Mic clipped on to the shirt might help, but I have to max my iPad volume to hear you, and when your ads kick in the volume goes super high, animals go flying and I have to scramble to lower the volume. Also, while you’re talking, sometimes you seem to trail off or turn your head away from the mic you’re using (laptop mic?) and the sound level drops way down. I’m just trying to be able to hear what you have to say. Anyway, keep making them, and I’ll keep watching them!

Good stuff.. shame you can't get it with the gas engine..

No need to. The gas engines are capped at 26,000 GCWRs and a gas 3500 SRW has a GVWR of like 11,550 or something close to that. So even a gas 3500 SRW would never require a class A CDL to tow a 14,000 GVWR trailer, which is a common size for an equipment trailer.
This package is just a way around needing a Class A license for commercial users as well as private users that live in states that require non commercial Class A license when you are above 26,000 GCWR.

I just ordered the max pkg last week on my sle. I was told by dealer it would take one month to approve order . For those wanting a 3500 badge you can actually order one thru your dealer however the current 2024 3500 badge is on back order. . They’re not terribly expensive. The badge is on the side bumper now not on the door. Yes it will save you money to do it this way.
