- We take a full tour of the 13.4" Infotainment system found in the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD trucks. This system should be the same or very similar to that one found in the 2022+ Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. With Google built in, it adds a ton of functionality over the former systems. It also has wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Over-the-air updates should help keep most functions up to date and GM has starting rolling out 5G to certain 2024 models. Very informative. I was worried about the buckle to drive as I drive from pile to pile in lumber yards and don't want to buckle up every time I move 12 feet ahead to the next pile. So glad that can be turned off.
I've rented many trucks with all my travels, and the current rental, a new 2024 Sierra 1500 SLT is by far the best truck I've ever driven, and the infotainment system is the best I've ever seen on any vehicle. The google integration is really good as well.
For a $56 a month this is outrageous!! The Chevy app is $15 a month after the free 3 years, Ford on the other hand is free for life….. come on Chevy!!
My 2023 chevy silvetado radio was only free for one month , after that if you want the factory nav to work as it should it will cost 20 to 30 dollars plus taxes in Canada.
That one issue pisses me off, the salesman failed to mention that important part before I bought the truck !
I guess I shouldn't expect too much from GM on a 90000 truck in Canada!!!
The price is terrible. I would have considered keeping it if it was 10/month. Navigation data plans could be separate from wifi hotspot

Question...I don't hate my normal screen in my new 1500 custom but love the bigger screen. Will this work in a 1500 custom?
Is there somewhere to select whether the blindspot momitor is both the light and chime or just the light?
The Audio/Radio system fell short in comparison to my 2013 model. When using the radio and playing ones USB playlist the new system will not upload the playlist onto the music radio from a thumb drive. Also when using the USB outlet for music there is no other one (USB) available from the front seats for other applications.
Is there anyway to lock the screen to what you normally use? Drives me nuts how I’m constantly changing the screen back to Apple Car Play on the left and what I’m listening to on the right.
Having issues with favorite buttons not always working on the back left hand side of steering wheel? Only after changing icons. Any ideas? 13:07
Help: my 2014 and 2021 GMC truck had the option to go to manage my favorites and type in the name of a radio station (FM & AM) I do not see the "pencil" icon that would take me to the keyboard to type the name of the station so that you can see it on the favorites buttons. Did we lose that option?
My 2021 Bose system Rocked ,just got into a 2024 and the bose system is not near as loud,am I missing something? Not to mention my usb stick where my songs were numbered and now it puts them in alphabetical order 😢

Hi, I'm trying to get a turn by turn direction. It says downloading, then it stops and no route downloaded. So I called Onstar, talked to the gentlemen and tried to help me. They said that it has something to do with the app permissions that it should be allowed or enabled. The tech asked me to look for Navigation or turn by turn settings in that page and click allow. The problem was, I can't find that Turn By turn permission or am I missing some steps?

All nice, One thing I don't understand is why doesn't the 360 Surround Cameras don't come on, until I hook a Trailer? Then they work as they should, Turn Signals and Front Camera. Come On GM, for $70,000.00 you're cameras should work all the time! Plus "Get rid of the damn Auto Start/Stop and DFM.
still unclear to me. does the 2024 colorado zr2 have a factory navigation. I hate apple car play and phone interaction. looking foir a stand alone system like on ranger and ram. can you confirm
I agree. This is insane. Buy a new truck for $70K and the Map and Posted speedlimit display stops working after first month. The bad part those features can come from your phone. We should not need GM data to make that work as that should be able to pull from the phone. I have bought GM since late 70s. I almost bought a Toyota Tundra 1794 this time and wish I did.

Where the hell is the 12 volt plug.every one had items that depends on the 12 volt plug.
Can you change the options for the small right split screen or are you stuck with the four preloaded? Clock/map/trailer/radio
Good question. To the best of my memory, I don't believe you can change those options.
Is there a way to just leave it on a full screen instead of the split screens to have the clock
Very informative, was hoping you would tell is we could change the small screen to something other than google maps. I never use it and don't like it, all my locations for the last decade are all in apple maps.

Can the cameras be set to turn on when moving fwd and the sensors sense an object? I haven't been able to figure that out yet. The seat vibes/beeps but the camera will not turn on. Is it a setting? or do I need to turn on front camera manually each time?
Great question. I would have to look into it a little further. It is a feature other vehicles have.
You forgot to mention that if you don't get Google unless you pay for the hotspot. You can use Android Auto but the infotainment system tries to connect to the GM hotspot first, takes about 5 min. to connect to your phone.
unless they have patched it out you can also connect the radio to your phones hotspot to use the radio "normally" you have to do it every time you turn it on though
I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 LT. The 2021 allowed to have 2 phones connected concurrently (when you have personal and business phone like I do). Some people say the 2023 has that. Is that true? How to activate that? I heard one phone would be primary and use CarPlay and second phone would be secondary and for Bluetooth call only. Cannot make it work on my truck
I just checked the order guide and GM only lists 2 active Bluetooth device connection for the 7" infotainment system on the W/T and Custom trims. I would find it weird if the 13.4" system couldn't connect to two Bluetooth phones simultaneously but it doesn't list it like the smaller screen.
Is there a way to save favorite songs on XM where I can get an alert if that song is playing on another station like on my 2015 Silvarado?
Great question. I have not seen that feature before on these newer systems but know what you are talking about. I would think it would be easy to find in the settings if it has it.
Google is hearing everything
might be a stupid question, but does the google maps/ direction feature stay active for free, or is it part of a subscription service? I know some features you must pay for after a certain amount of time, like the phone app/ remote start stuff.
You have to subscribe same for the hey google features
I have a 2023 Silverado with the new 13.4 infotainment system I am having a couple of issues, first where did the clock go that was on the right of the screen on the demo mode I can't find it anywhere. and is the radio supposed to stay on after I exit the truck.
Did you swipe up or down on the right panel? The radio should only stay on if you are messing with it in accessory mode. Not when you normally stop vehicle and get out
How do I enable the split screen? I'm missing the small screen on the right side.
There should be a little arrow on the side to expand it and retract it. I can't remember off the top of my head if there is a toggle to turn it off and on entirely.

it works with my otterbox commuter. Pull your phone out of your box and then check if it charges
Is there a way to change the screen on the right side? I only see the option to select the Map, Radio or Clock. If possible, I would like to change.
Those are your only three choices.

Your radio is stuck in Demo Mode, there are some other RUclips videos that can explain.

Is there a way to keep the analog clock as your home display by default? I always have to scroll down at every start up.
My 2024 Sierra keeps the clock once I select it.
Would you know if or how to keep the accessorie power on when the vehicle is not running? I want to use the wifi at my camp, but it turns off after 15 minutes.
At vehicle entry. Press and hold the start button for an extended time(can't remember exactly but around 10secs) it will go into accessory mode.

You would use the shifter stalk and select neutral.
Wireless AirPlay is a good feature.
What determines on startup whether you get the fire looking flame and sometimes you don’t get that on start up?
There is something in the settings for fast startup. Forget the exact verbiage. Try that.
maybe I missed it. Can you control stereo volume , stations , and skip music from your phone on the steering wheel or do you have to use the touch screen?

directly below the screen there are 5 buttons. What is the first one on the left? I never saw that one before on any Silverado. The pic looks like the truck is about to hit a wall.
Lane keeping assist. If you go towards the edge of the lane, the truck will correct for you.

You’re probably still in demo mode. Go into settings and reset all settings. It’ll prompt you to make a profile

There should be dim/brighten buttons on the dash to the left of the steering wheel, at least that is where they are on my truck. I really do not like the dim/brighten buttons where they are honestly.

Great tutorial. One question I have is, every time I get into my truck I have to tap the 'Audio' icon to go to my sirius xm, is there a way to set the homescreen so upon startup it will just stay on the screen where I last left it?
I was poking around the menu's yesterday and didn't see anything in particular that would change that functionality. Not to say there isn't but I didn't see anything.
Save an XM station in one of the preset locations. Makes the audio input selection to XM one simple click/press/selection away.

Memory Seat? You will need the button on the door for that feature.

I just bought my 2024 2500 HD LTZ last week and they told that the onboard google maps and heads up display will require the $25.00 data plan for it to work. Is this the case or are just trying to suck more money out of me?? Thanks
I don't believe the HUD is impacted by the subscription but the Google Maps (and other features) are enabled only with the subscription after the trial period.

We are having problems with our phone not staying connected to the truck, every time I start it up I have to reconnected the phone. The guest mode is automatically connected, any suggestions on how to correct this? Also it will not let me sign into Google Play, it says not authorized by admin? Thank you!

@M. Ortiz Found it. He is right, disconnect both negative battery terminals for a few seconds and bam, it's not in demo mode anymore then you can log in. Dealers should do this at delivery for 90+k trucks.
There should be a screen that pops up upon start up to take it out of demo mode. The dealer should do this upon delivery.
Man I never knew GM could take a trash screen menu they have been using for years and make it worse… hope the screens just don’t randomly go black like some do from experience

My 2024 google voice won't work using Android Auto without subscribing to a GMC data plan even though I have unlimited data on my connected phone. Worked fine on my 2021. Money hungry jerks.

There is a off feature, but the time still shows on it. If you want to just dim the screen, the dimmer/brighten buttons are on the dash to the left of the steering wheel.
My 2024 2500 HD Duramax is in the shop again after multiple drive train problems. Is has been there now on this stint for 12 days with a transmission failure at 2200 miles. Failures started at 200 miles. The product and brand is horrible. I purchased an LTZ version (high country quality) and it has been a nightmare. Stay away! I haven't even towed with it yet. Sad!
When the sound stops working. Pull over, put the chevy in park and hold the “hang up phone” button on steering wheel until you see the Chevy logo. #thankmelater #happensalot 😅
Is the truck 5G capable?
Great question. I believe GM has starting making the switch over to 5G connectivity within their vehicles but I can't find anything that specifically says it does or does not.
I just bought an HD gasser LT. I and so frustrated with the “integrated” aka intrusive google crap Chevy put in here. If there was any way to uninstall google, I would!
Chevy Silverado LT 3500 can't change the font size of the display. The entire truck is computerized but the font size is very small for a person with only reading glasses. Very disappointing.
You can change the size of the digital cluster but not the infotainment to my knowledge.
I just want a CD player and an AM/FM radio. When I get into my truck it's 140 degrees inside, I don't want to play around with a computer and I'm not going to do it when I'm driving down the road.
This is not a truck, it's an RV hauler for retired people.
I use mine for work myself.

Okay its a big reflective screen that doesn't really use that size in any meaningful way? Look at all the empty space on the radio screen.... Kind of obnoxious. Lots of buttons, lots of screen, no features of substance.

The fact that they still have the old infotainment in some of these trucks is pretty stupid. I don't want to spend $50000 trucks and get an infotainment system that's in a 10 year old Chevy Equinox.
