Calling Force Awakens the "good one" is the biggest cope. None of them are any good. That's the problem (with the exception that the CGI is decent, but a decent demo reel for a VFX artist to get a new job doesn't make a good movie.)
Heck, TFA is the reason none of the others could be any good. We got the classic Abrams set up, where he poses questions without bothering to come up with answers, and just painted A New Hope over it.
The CGI is superb in the new trilogy. It's the only thing that is cool in those movies.

Force Awakens felt like a studio making a 'star wars movie'. It felt like someone's cheap imitation of Star Wars. It was just 'give all the angry fans who hate the PT EVERYTHING they said was good about the OT in a focus group tested formula wearing the skeleton of A New Hope'. All the acting, effects, directing, etc... was great... but the story and lore were abysmal. I'll take Attack of the Clones and ALL the bad it has over the Sequel Trilogy. At least in the Prequels I can ignore the main stuff and look at all the stuff in the background.
@@EarnestVictory nah… Johnson killed the sequel trilogy. TFW wasn‘t a groundbreaking movie, but it was ok. A nice reboot of the star wars universe after the terrible prequels and it set up enough to create more stories from it.
Johnson on the other hand saw these set ups and threw them right out of the window to „subvert our expectations“. He brought it to the point that at the end of TLJ there was no where to go. Luke = dead, Snoke = dead, Rey‘s parents = nobody.
There was an interesting concept in this movie. I would have loved if Rey and Kylo would have actually switched sides after the terrible throne room scene… but Johnson wasted that opportunity like so many other. Don‘t forget the silly jokes, ruining beloved established characters, the stupid woke neo feminist agenda and the stupid casino planet he brought in.
What was JJ supposed to do after Johnson ruined everything? Ep 9 was doomed from the start thanks to Johnson and Kennedy.
The best thing to come out of the sequel trilogy was the march of the resistance

People seem to hate episode vii only because viii and ix were absolutely terrible. Its not a bad movie, definitely not great, but not bad. And it is most definitely better than the prequels.
exactly! not groundbreaking, but a decent popcorn movie. And that was all it was supposed to be, a movie that gives you that old Star Wars feeling back after the dreadful prequels.
Everything became shit when Ryan Johnson took over and defied all logic by ending all plot lines in the second movie of a trilogy… no master, no vilain, no where to go. He killed ep 8 and 9 in one go

Hard disagree its better than the prequels. The prequels bring something new and interesting. The force awakens is just a new hope but way worse which begs the question, why wouldn’t I just watch a new hope?
