I remember going back stage and eating with other musicians at craven, I met a guy who played bass with the okanes he liked our band and my playing, I said my name is Randy and he said pleased to meet you, I said Randy Fournier and he said Henry Stezlecki, omg my bass strap said strez this is the guy on most of the George jones hits, you name it, I was freaked out, especially that he liked my playing. Wow what a memory.
so i hear hes the origional writer of this song? not sure. i grew up with jerry jeff and always loved this tune. 20 years later it came up in my mind and got stuck in my head word for word. started looking at different versions today
I like Sylvias' version better. Sylvia Fricker Tyson that is . She wrote this w Tom Russel one night when Ian didnt come home back in Newtonville Ont. Shhhhhhh...

I'm not a cowboy music fan but Ian Tyson is a great songwriter, singer, performer. One of my all time favorites.
Historic. Thank you!
The man could make a metronome rock all over the fooking place
I co-wrote since the rain but the royalties now are 5 bucks and a punch in the face
Yes he wrote this with Thom Russel, Sylvia has nothing to do with it, I know because I was on the recording.
It dont get no better, love me some Ian!

I'm so glad no one joined in Mr. Tyson sings it fine with no drunk obnoxious fans.
Wagon was an overconfident Adrian Chonowol, my brother in arms, who became a woman, didn’t see that coming as I shared a room with him on the road.
Sounds great and Ian Tyson is not too hard on the eyes either! So good looking with a great voice!

The cowboy culture has a cetain romance re; the Calgary Dtampede.
If you like this performance, check out co-writer Tom Russell's version which he still does in every live concert.
No Thom moon in craven because they got into a scrap on our tour in flagstaff Arizona, Thom quit
