    I remember going back stage and eating with other musicians at craven, I met a guy who played bass with the okanes he liked our band and my playing, I said my name is Randy and he said pleased to meet you, I said Randy Fournier and he said Henry Stezlecki, omg my bass strap said strez this is the guy on most of the George jones hits, you name it, I was freaked out, especially that he liked my playing. Wow what a memory.

    I'm not a cowboy music fan but Ian Tyson is a great songwriter, singer, performer. One of my all time favorites.

    Yes he wrote this with Thom Russel, Sylvia has nothing to do with it, I know because I was on the recording.

    so i hear hes the origional writer of this song? not sure. i grew up with jerry jeff and always loved this tune. 20 years later it came up in my mind and got stuck in my head word for word. started looking at different versions today

    I like Sylvias' version better. Sylvia Fricker Tyson that is . She wrote this w Tom Russel one night when Ian didnt come home back in Newtonville Ont. Shhhhhhh...
