Long before I knew about western (cowboy) music, my heart yearned for it. Chris LeDoux cracked the wall to my awareness and Ian blew the lid off. What songs! So much heart and soul! From "Irving Berlin is 100 Years Old Today" to "Rockies Turn Rose" - from Someday Soon to 50 Years Ago, my heartstrings were seriously twanged. I never met him him, but am so thankful he was born and recorded such wonders!
I was so sad to hear about his passing. He was a wonderful singer and along with Gordon Lightfoot he was a great singer and songwriter. I remember seeing him sing with Gordon Lightfoot and Sylvia sing together.
Ian Tyson the storyteller. What young woman hasn't thought this thought when her father meets her beau: And when he comes to call, my pa ain't got a good word to say Guess it's 'cause he's just as wild in the younger days

RIP Ian, You will be so missed. A true Cowboy and Country singer! Canada and the world lost of wonderful icon singer.
What a wonderful career the man had, and what a great body of work he left for us. Canada is rightfully proud of this legendary, authentic artist.
What a remarkable clear ethereal beautiful baritone, just wonderful, what an icon there will never be another like him

One of the most beautiful voices ever. And brilliant song writer - several iconic songs.
Back in the 60s, I would go to sleep at night, with the stereo playing Ian and Sylvia's LP, Lovin' Sounds....
For me Ian nailed it with that cowboy country folk. Talk about a legend.
GREAT compilation! TY 4 this!
Thanks for sharing!

This such a strange broadcast! Truncated, broken into sections & as each starts I think I’m at the beginning by some mistake.
I prefer to remember his music as "cowboy culture", instead of the pure garbage the hillbilly (country) music has become.
