    Just finished this video, The roommate left town , moved away from the area and didn't help with the investigation. WOW that say a lot in my mind. Hope they find her and talk to her If she didn't do it, she seems to have been involved and knows more.

      She also went shopping in wader boots...we're parking lots flooded or did she stop and do some fly fishing...body was probably transferred in that cherry red car..I suspect the room mate!

      me cooper1 I believe the roommate has a part in all this! You can clearly hear laughter in the background of the 911 call. Why was she in the video with boots on? Also saying loudly that the door is locked. I bet she unlocked it ams then locked it again.

    Sad. I spent a lot of time with with my Aunt almost every weekend growing up. She had "voices" in her head that progressed rather rapidly. Around 12, my last weekend ended as my cousins and I watched her eat a grocery bag of meds trying to "make them stop screaming" I've never forgotten that day. She's still alive, unfortunately not a whole lot better but that was only after several shock treatments to her brain. She doesn't even remember them but my cousins and I will never forget how terrified she was of what they were asking her to do. Mental illness is a scary thing I believe we still don't know enough about. I just hope she died as peaceful as possible. It's hard to deal with physical pain but when your head has the problem, there is no escape.

      Truey Lewis "when your head is the problem there is no escape"
      This is so, so true. I often struggle to try to explain to people my rationale when I say that sometimes I wish I had lost my legs or something of that sort rather than have chronic depression, general anxiety and PTSD. Neurotypical people cant always wrap their minds around the idea that your mind is trying to torture and kill you. What you said is right on point. There simply is no escape.

    • @chelseymcinerney693
      @chelseymcinerney693 7 лет назад +3

      I am also so sorry that you had to watch your aunt through all of that. It must have been very disturbing for you and your cousins. I wish you all the best and I hope your aunt can find some peace.

    • @-hi-v1267

      Truey Lewis Maybe her room mate was gaslighting her. Making her worse doe some reason. There was clearly laughter in the backlog that 911.call. I think she unlocked the door and then locked it. I think someone was playing games with her.

      snakey973 Yea people put way too much emphasis on the dog talking. I talk to my animals all the time.Guess I’m just having a constant breakdown 🙄 Honestly there was something going on with the 911 calls BUT the dog talking is nothing IMO

    I am left to wonder if she possibly was having a break in reality. I suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder- and paranoia and delusions happen. When I listen to her call it reminds me of some of my episodes before I was medicated. Additionally, a boyfriend I had several years ago was diagnosed as Bipolar- he had an episode where I found him walking down the street in only his boxers in the middle of winter calling my name - again before he was diagnosed and medicated. Mental health is a huge problem because so many people go undiagnosed.

    • @shaleemichelle
      @shaleemichelle 8 лет назад +7

      Fellow person with BPD here! I would absolutely agree with your statement; When having an episode, delusions and hallucinations can seem so real and also be so entirely confusing.
      Especially if you're unaware that you're dealing with an illness, and you (or others around you) aren't able to comprehend or identify what you're dealing with.
      I also saw someone else in the comments mention that it could possibly also be Schizophrenia, as Kayelyn was around the age that the onset of symptoms would start.
      It's just something to think about. Irregardless, this is an unfortunate, heart-wrenching event, and I just hope that whatever the case (whether mental illness, drug use, or foul play), that there may be peace and resolution eventually.

    • @shaleemichelle
      @shaleemichelle 8 лет назад +3

      ***** I'd also agree with you - Unfortunately, law enforcement and investigators aren't so apt when it comes to actually piecing together theories and considering other possibilities (I do see a lot of these cases getting chocked up to being the result of bad drug trips, mental illness, etc).
      I also strongly dislike how easily evidence and cases are disregarded and explained away as being the result of mental illness due to the fact that a person may have dealt with mental illness (such as Kayelyn - where we only have a bit of evidence suggesting she dealt with some minor depression), and it usually being something more, "minor" like anxiety.
      TLDR; Law enforcement can be totally biased, ignorant, and flawed more than I'd even like to admit.

    • @TheEyeOfTaurusAK
      @TheEyeOfTaurusAK 8 лет назад +1

      Thanks Erica for the insight. It must have been a very surreal experience before you were medicated. I have a couple questions if u don't mind me asking, just so I can get more of an idea of what you experienced, so myself and other can get a glimpse into how a person would feel and act during a "psychotic episode" before being diagnosed and medicated...
      What kind of delusions did u experience? Auditory AND hallucinatory? What did you see/hear that others said wasn't "real"?
      Can you give an example of the paranoia you
      Before you were diagnosed, did u experience any depression and/or a very stressful situation occur beforehand?
      Did u ever wander off anywhere or do anything out of character that u norm wouldn't do before your diagnosis?
      Anything else you think would be beneficial for us to know, can you please share? I think it would help us all when we are reviewing these cases to give us better insight and more of an in-depth understanding of certain patterns of behavior.

    • @hotxcheetos
      @hotxcheetos 8 лет назад +3

      +Allison Keirsey yeah I don't mind at all. For me it was a state of disassociation. I often would have episodes of feeling like I wasn't in my body and everything was a dream but for days on end. I would have auditory and even visual. I thought someone was watching me once, I thought people were coming to my house, I thought I heard my name when I would be home alone etc

    • @TheEyeOfTaurusAK
      @TheEyeOfTaurusAK 8 лет назад +3

      +Erica Bradshaw you just described almost everything that she seemed to be experiencing too...I agree with you, I think it was a psychotic break from all the stress from her brother going to prison, losing her job, and who knows what else she was going thru. I know when I turned 30 I think I went thru a depression of sorts.
      It's like you have this idea/expectation when ur young about what life will be like when you're 30, and when i got there, essentially NOTHING I assumed would be accomplished by then happened for me (I wasn't married, I didn't have any kids, I was lost in what kinda career I wanted, etc.), and I bet you just THAT alone could of had an affect on her, ya know?!

  • @csagan3
    @csagan3 8 лет назад +27

    I'm not a mental health expert, but I have seen people suffering from mental health issues... Unfortunately, she does seem to be exhibiting some tell tale signs of this as well.
    One side note John... I was wondering if you - or perhaps Bleu Meanie - have come across the sad, tragic story of the two Dutch girls, Froon and Kremers? They were studying in Panama (2014?), went for a day hike across the continental divide Panamanian jungles, and were never seen again. That in itself is a sad, but not uncommon scenario for inexperienced hikers... What makes this really spooky though, is that these two young women were possibly alive for another TEN days, in the jungle, snapping pictures and attempting to dial 911 and 112(?) seeking help. The photos are quite eerie - 87 of the 90 photos taken by the girls, were dark and showed almost nothing... Using as a light source? Perhaps delirious after 6-8 days already wandering the jungle? Two photos, if I remember correctly, were of the back of the head of the Kremer girl. Anyway John, you're the best at this, so I thought you might want to look into this yourself, and hopefully, come up with some more info - and of course, your take on this mystery... Keep up the awesome work!

    Obviously as an outside party I can only speculate.
    Thoughts:
    -They need to do a more thorough autopsy if the autopsy was as bad as they said.
    -was the roomate even questioned?
    -The roomate sounded a bit annoyed at her in the 911 call. Maybe she had done this plenty of times before.
    -The father said she had a little bit of depression. Maybe they were like my friends family who doesn't *believe* there is such thing as depression.
    -Could she have walked that far?
    -Was she thinking she was being chased?
    -

    • @shannonhill3356
      @shannonhill3356 5 лет назад +3

      Yeah great idea! And we'll start up the weather machine and just warm or cool the ocean and set up a couple mile wide fans to replicate the exact weather and water conditions.
      Unfortunately, if they didn't think to do that at the time, or at least have the info or access to the info to do it on a day with very similar weather and water height/conditions, they likely won't because too many variables.
      The bigger problem is that the police seem to have made their mind up on what happened here, and thus they feel it unnecessary and a waste to do such testing 👎👎👎

      I agree. I believe the roommate knows more. This educated woman never had problems or showed signs of mental illness until this happened to her. That's crazy. Whomever did this wanted the public and her family to believe this lady was loosing her mind and suicidal. Wrong. I looked beyond this bullshit. This lady is clearly running from something or someone on this video. She loved her dog, no way she would've left her best friend. Family is right to be suspicious. Better checkout roommate story real close.

      @@lynnettemccauley277 Obviously she's running from or to something. That's not what's in question. Do you even know the details? There's no one in the footage at all. She was seeing ghosts earlier in the day and most likely was again and she was running from nothing. Paranoid delusions. She sounded manic to me. When your mind is all fucked up the last thing you care about or think about is your damn dog lol of course she would leave the dog. You're thinking emotionally and not logically. ruclips.net/video/2MEbqPnyUVw/видео.html Eerie foreshadowing of things to come. Note Mom's minimizing reference to Colton's having a bit of depression, as was later hinted at re Kayelyn. He, too, would end up delusional, albeit as a result of meth abuse. Then there's the twin aspect, which troubles me. And finally, Kayelyn's own words re her bro & suicidal ideation. For what it's worth, deceased uncle was on meth as well. Dysfunctional family dynamic a contributing factor? Parents in denial re seriousness of twins' mental illness/mood disorder? This is all speculative, I'm not making any accusations, there just seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes that may have been of importance in both instances.

    Somethings not right with that roomie either, Im so mad at these cops for not investigating better!! If the death is even a lil suspicous, they should investigate as foul play until proven otherwise. I doubt she'd just up an leave her dog, something was going on! I wonder why her dog didnt follow her as well? The not knowing is awful! Pray for her and the family!

I do not know what to think, even if she was "losing" it that night of the 911 calls it still doesn't explain how she got so far. I read a post that said a girl seen a women being forced in a red car. Is that why the red car was shown on the surveillance tapes? What about the roommate, what do we know about their situation? Something isn't right here with this case.

    We need more details from the roommate... Perhaps the roommate knows a lot more than anyone in this. Perhaps people were in her apartment and she locked herself in her room and her roommate knowing this told the police she was crazy when they arrived. Perhaps there was fighting and a gunshot but they instead said it was just the wedding that was going on. Perhaps her roommate was doing innaproporate things and she was trying to reach out (calling again but then hanging up) and her roommate got sick of it and had her taken out... The roommate should be key here

    We've had 6 deaths of young teen girls here and they were all found in the water and all ruled suicide. So frustrating. It seems like closing a case as suicide is less work than admitting there may be a murderer. Every case of a missing person should be treated as a potential homicide until it can be ruled out, rather than treated as a runaway u less they can rule something else in.

      PODCASTHUNTERS with Mina & Mirela - That’s an important question, WHAT was found IF anything in her system. I think it’s odd that her autopsy in this day and age could reveal so little. Was that a NORMAL state of decomposition if left 2 months in the river; when they went looking for her, they did not ever check there, nor was there any inspection of that tunnel before that body was found??

    • @TheEyeOfTaurusAK

      I just wanna know why we have to assume that she floated the ENTIRE way??? She could have def walked 4-5 miles, came upon an area of it she wasn't entirely familiar with, slipped on some wet mud or grass and fell in, right? And if the water levels were high enough, I'm sure that a white water/rip tide type of thing could've pulled her under and she drowned around where she was found or just upstream from there?

    With her leaving her beloved dog behind, her depression over her brother and her job situation, her apparent mental break with reality...I think this lovely young woman ended her life. Something else I wondered, with it being Utah, was if she was Mormon. This isn't meant as a slam, but Utah has a very high rate of anti-depressant use, as well as one of the highest rates of suicide among young men. Mormonism demands a very high level of personal performance, perfection, almost, and it can be very depressing for some who feel they aren't meeting the standard. I've also read that there tends to be a lot of judgment between themselves, so with what happened with her brother, and now struggles in her own life, Kayelyn could have felt a ton of pressure if she was LDS. Idk, either way, just could have been another straw. I hope she has peace wherever she is now.

    John, I have watched this three times and really to me, it has all the trappings of what David Paulides' main issues cite as similar factors to his researched disappearances. The lady was found in a body of water near her home with no evidence of scrapes or scratches on her body indicative of falling into and or/flailing around in bushes and rocks in a river. Also she disappeared but was not found in that area she was eventually found dead. This is common about the Paulides disappearances, where they search the area that bodies are found long after the area has been initially, repeatedly searched. Also, like you mentioned, the Elisa Lam case, where there is some 'incoherent behavior' happening, this lady has that too, in her strange looking surveillance video actions and also the strange phone call where she apparently 'hears people taking things' out of her condo, which was unsubstantiated by the roommate, but, how do we know the roommate is telling the real story too? Sounds very fishy to me, very. Anyway just my two cents as a novice 'brainscratcher' following you. Oh, one more thing, I lived in Northern Utah, Logan to be exact, which is about 1.5 hours northwest of Murray. I witnessed torrential rains there often. This area near the Wasatch mountain range is notorious for winter (and sometimes summer/spring) intense periods of heavy rain. Even though the video may not reflect that, it is possible the rains were worse before or after the videos were shot. The rains can be intermittent, but seriously heavy and very dangerous to be near bodies of water during these times. I have seen the Logan river so high that water spills out across the highway that runs through there on the way to Idaho, so I am sure the Jordan river does the same. Just a thought about that.

      Zoe Marlowe I havr watched this video many times too and also noticed a lot of similarities with the Paulides disappearances. What I noticed was the confusion, the water and not to mention the huge boulder. Paulides mentions that somehow boulders are involved? The fact that she may have been placed in the water, the fact that she was found 5 miles from where she was last seen. It's strange, yet so sad for Kayelyn.

      Wow, I was searching for a comment about the possible water level. (Already wanted to ask if anybody knows something about it).
      Cause as we all know a small creek can turn into a big river after weeks/months of heavy raining.
      Being from Europe I don't know very much about the Paulides' cases. Just have heard about his most famous "Missing 411" reports and books. Cases which happened in national parks but more in desert like, dry regions.
      Didn't know there're lots of cases of unharmed corpses floating in the water too. (I mean besides the theory of the smiley face killings of course).

    Very weird. Maybe she walked or drove there because of her depression. I know when I was at my most depressed I would just kind of walk or drive around aimlessly trying to find new places. Maybe she ran into trouble while walking around alone and not being able to protect herself. Also she could have been dumped there if it was in fact a homicide.

  • @rawreview2178
    @rawreview2178 8 лет назад +14

    The last two surveillance videos were of her roommate, there's gotta be a reason why the cops included those, right? Her roommate seems to be acting fishy throughout this whole ordeal (before and after her death). If it were a homicide, she would be my first person of interest. But it's possible it was a suicide or accidental death. Another case where more questioning should have been done by the police but wasn't. What the hell is going on with the police these days? I know there are good, respectable cops out there, but these days there seems to be less and less of them. :(

Sad. No mental illness was in her history or did it run in her family. Sucks. She was so beautiful with a good future in front of her. This case smacks the Elisa Lamm case.

    A couple of things that I'm wondering about. 1. It seems that looking at the surveillance video, she always seems to go down to the creek behind her apartments taking the same route. If she had fallen into the creek there, you would think there would be video of her going down to the creek and not returning. 2. I was wondering if the police did any checking of surveillance video from surrounding shops, gas stations etc... any place that might have shown her walking to the place she was finally discovered?

    Good video, John. Definitely a brainscratch of a case. I did briefly analyze the location on Google Earth. It appears the particular path in the video leads from the condo to the parking lot/garage. Her walking (with) the dog towards the camera indicates she is taking the dog out, rather than back in (and that her roommate is shown leaving in the respective footage in which she is shown walking). I also noticed that just adjacent to the corner of the parking structure where the camera is attached (out of view in the footage) is what looks like a walkway into an area where she possibly took her dog. This may be the basis for the disconcertion of her jogging away from the condo (assuming this is represented correctly by some media sources as the last footage of her, which I'm wondering about given no timestamp and it not being the first or last video in the listed sequence provided): where was she going without belongings?
    Also, this footage is shot opposite the side of the condo from where one would access the creek. Therefore the video gives no indication that she was or was not intending on visiting the creek area. Her being out of her right mind seems a reasonable hypothesis, considering the calls she made. I'm not confident that time and varying water levels do not suffice to explain how her body eventually reached the location where it was recovered.

    I know this is an older case and older video but wanted to add my perspective. I'm not sure what kind of social worker Kayelyn was, but I am a social worker myself and I can tell anyone that the job takes more of a mental and emotional toll on us than many can imagine. There have been times that I have felt deeply anxious, depressed, and even suicidal because of the weight of trying to heal the world's problems. I have experienced death threats from clients and have felt periods of paranoia from that. If I lost my job, I would feel like I had lost my purpose. I think most people get called to social work because they care deeply about the world but that's a heavy burden to bear and a lot of times it's a very thankless job. I can imagine this beautiful young soul being torn down and hopeless from the work. It could easily have affected her mental state and contributed to this strange situation.

      I think that mound plays a key role. It blocked the view, and I think someone knew that. Be it her roommate... Who went shopping for groceries in waiter style boots...
      Or someone waiting for her to move behind the mound so he could make a move. Which could explain her reluctance to go too far behind the mound.
      Another thing I find curious, is that her roommate is seen there pulling in and out of the parking lot.... Perhaps she offered her a ride.... And when that didn't work... Asked her to meet her behind the mound?
      All of this is speculation. But the more I look into this, the more it seems like a set-up by the roommate.

    A man went missing near a river/two Bridges near my house. Police search teams had ATVs, drones and people searching for days. As soon as they ended their search, the man's body was found in the river under one of the bridges (a train bridge with no sides). He had fallen to his death and a friend of ours found him very close to a public trail that had certainly been searched (including by myself) for days (I walk my dogs there every morning). Couple thoughts: One-in the city in Texas where I live, police respond to each and every 911 call, even if the caller hangs up. If they had her cell number/address from the first 911 call, which they did respond to, it seems like they would know/recognize the number and address even if she hung up that second time. Our police would have to go and clear the scene, even if it's a hang up or misdial. It is also a misdemeanor here to misuse the 911 system, like calling and hanging up or calling multiple times. Don't know about Utah laws.
    Also, though her friend says she was acting weird, the first missing article quoted her mom "I talked to Kaylyn that day that she went missing. She seemed just fine to me," her mother said while calling her disappearance "the biggest nightmare we've ever had in our lives.". So, I'm confused.
    Additionally, that little run she does back to her house is the way I run trying to get out of rain. I don't think she's scared.

    Guys, let's stop assuming that she HAD to have floated the ENTIRE way from where her condo was. She certainly could've def walked 4-5 miles from there, and slipped on some wet grass or mud and drowned bc of some sorta rip tide or something....
    I just want us to start thinking from diff angles here, and not insist that it's impossible for her body to have been found where it was bc of either foul play, suicide, an accident, or that it floated the whole way. There are probably a million possible scenarios, so let's not discount the fact that she has legs and was quite capable of walking-at least a part or majority of the way-despite the shitty rainy weather.
    Even walking bare feet wouldn't have been such a big deal...it could've been 70° out that day, how do we know? Maybe she was walking along it for quite a while, thinking about things or trying to clear her head, and she accidentally slipped and fell? An accidental slip doesn't even HAVE to do with her psychotic break either...

Maybe someone, could be known to her, saw her walking, offered a ride, then further down the road left the car and that's when she ended up in the river. She may have bolted out of the car when it stopped, like a traffic light. Could've been after an argument or confrontation in the car.

      I don't know the real reason her roommate packed up and moved away, it could be for personal or money reasons, but doing it so quickly, it does make you wonder why. My mother had mental issues and if she became angry or upset with my father while driving, the very next time he'd stop - out of the car she'd go, no matter where or the time. It just about drove my father crazy (and sometimes angry.) The struggles he had to get her back in. I wonder if this is what happened to Kayelyn. Her name is Fontelle. They married, then she went back to Missouri to pack up. The monday before she returned, July 27, 2009, he disappeared and as now has not been found. He disappeared from his home in Placentia, Calif. There's a back story that entails his wealth and 3 grown daughters, he had made an announcement at a family meeting on Sunday where he was going to add Fontelle's name to some very important documents. There's a mystery writer in Germany who's worked very hard to find out what happened to Bob. Fontelle now lives alone in Bob's house. There are people who want to find him. If you can help too that would be great. Like others before him the more the word gets out, the better the outcome (hopefully.)

    While I agree the 911 call makes it seem like she was a bit unhinged, I've got to say the surveillance video just looks like a person talking to their dog to me. People talk to their pets. This is normal. The running away barefoot, not so much. But the talking to the dog part doesn't seem weird to me.

    In the 3rd surveillance clip, did no one notice the red car that is in park just out of the frame on the left hand side? Did that person not notice her, did they see anything? Were they maybe waiting for her? No one has mentioned that car

      at 9:53, there is the butt end of the red car, at 11:50, the red car is back and is supposedly her roommates car. the first red car tail does look darker and more square than her roommates, but has no one questioned the people in the 1st red car? surely they can make the footage clearer and get the license #, cops have that technology, yes?

      I would like to think they do have tech to do that, but I think it varies greatly by department. I've seen some horrible footage be released in very low resolutions that could be brushed up with some relatively simple digital editing tools.

      Very sad and bizarre that the cops are willing to call it a suicide and not investigate every last thing that may help find out what happened. Also strange and maybe lazy that they don't make any footage clearer. Thanks for the video, john! You're always the best, love and light to her family

      +Emme According to Websleuths they red car that you only sees taillights isn't the roommates. No one seems to know if it was looked into either. Very frustrating if they didn't.

      Bleu Meanie I think the investigation is closed now, but I'm actually very surprised that police didn't look into that car. That could be a potentially very big lead. Also, thanks for replying, so you're the famous Bleu Meanie! Thanks for all the research you do.💙

    There's no surveillance footage of her departing the complex the last time? The repeated 911 calls are worrisome. Especially the last one. Could her roommate have been gaslighting her? Taking advantage of her emotional state by suggesting reasons for her to be paranoid? After what I heard, I certainly cant say I trust the roommate. I'd like to see more comings and goings of her as well. The footage in the rain doesn't seem that important to the case. She was obviously talking to her dog. I become histrionic in my conversations with my pets too.

      You could actually hear someone laughing in the background during one of those 911 calls.

    I just listened to the third 911 call and I heard laughter from a female right after he asks her name he then asks "can you still hear them?" The laugh almost sounds sinister. It's at approximately 3:35

    Based on the her behavior it looks like the classic symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia. She's hearing things that aren't there and seeing things that aren't there. Doesn't explain the probable suicide, but it's quite possible that her inability to hold down a job in the Social Work field lead her down the dark path and subsequent downward spiral.

      You draw this conclusion based solely on the surveillance video, while it looks to me and several other people like she was just talking to her dog.
      I don't know why they can't just clean up the video, best they can, and have a Deaf person see if they can read her lips, at least a little.

    It sounds as if someone slipped her something repeatedly to tarnish her rep. so no one would believe her. If her body did not show that she was in the water for all that time, then where was she? Someone knows more than they are saying. here in the comments her friends are saying she did not use drugs. Three times i came home and food was rearranged towels missing,,, the cops were looking at me funny... i heard things in the middle of the night... then it started happening to my neighbors, Then and only then did they do some checking and discovered a man living in the woods behind our homes with our food and our stuff...Mental illness is a horrible thing , but sometimes we are too quick to judge. the police need to listen to her friends and family and look into this much more closely. esp. at the witnesses that were present.

    Pretty frustrating to have that rock/mound thing sitting right there, blocking our view of whatever it is that's got her attention. I mean, how effective is having a CCTV there if that much of the frame is blocked from view? 🤔

    Just listened to 8min+ 911 call..at around 4min you hear male laughing and then male voice speaking( maybe on 911 call center)?...but near the end of call when police arrive/knock the dog starts barking which leads me to believe the dog would've barked at intruders sooo..I'm stumped
