Îm having a difficult time îve lost a lot of clients due to Covid and some moving away back to school and new jobs elsewhere, lost many elderly as well. I love your teaching me so many things I can use daily since I haven’t had the opportunity to work with many competent hairstylists so I truly appreciate every video you put out on colouring, saving time in the salon and cuts. I really wish I could afford your Patreon and I would encourage you if I could as your help has been invaluable to this older stylist. I will register when I can.

Love your attitude! Thank you for sharing how to fix mistakes...and you are right, people who refuse to admit they make mistakes are totally insufferable! Also, glad to see you use the wrinkled foils...saving the planet one foil at a time! Thanks again for great lessons on both hair and life.
Ah Michmash What a wonderful comment thank you so much for contributing to the comments 😁🙏🏻
It’s nice to see you fix and correct as you work. Seriously we ALL do it. Even the “masters”
One trick do to get a softer growout is I do back to back weaves, 4 consecutive ones on each side of the forehead like u, and 2 on each side. The first one right on the hairline I paint a 2 inch W at the top of the foil and saturate underneath that. The next foil I will paint all the way to the root. This creates a nice diffused blur at the root so I don’t have to depend on the root shadow so much.
I thank you for Always Thoroughly explaining what you do in detail, and step by step. You are an excellent trainer!!
My pleasure Lance glad you enjoyed the video is my friend thank you for your comment

Love love love your videos James. You are such an awesome teacher. I will definitely try this the next chance i get. I just spent 5 HOURS highlighting and balyaging a head of hair yesterday. I was not happy with the way it turned out... level 5 hair virgin hair , with old growth bleach/ level 10 about 5 inches from root to ends of hair. I used 30 vol and blue bleach powder. I alway s end up spending so much time doing whole heads of hair , as whichever section i start with will process before the final section has finished foiling. I had to tone, and am still super cautious using toners, so it was too brassy. Will have to re tone. Ugh. Practice practise practise. Thanks for your calm and reasoned approach to this craft.
Wonderful Kim glad you appreciate the videos hope they help you in your hairdressing day to day

I use the exact foiling method.. I need to feel the foil locked into the hair by pushing the bottom underneath into the roots ... !!! Its a great technique 👌 👏 👍
Wonderful Mary yes it’s one of my absolute favourite technique to secure foiling when I first discovered it it change my foiling forever

Brilliant, thanks!
My husband thinks you sound a bit like the comedian Jon Richardson. 😄
It’s my pleasure, Jon Richardson hey I’ll take that he’s one of my favourite comedians
Lov ur work, always excellent work,
Thank you very much
Could you possibly do a video on combining balayage and a full head of highlights? ❤️
Yeah sure Maria I can definitely do that for you 😁👍🏻
Thank you for this video!! It's just fabulous!! Also wondering why you did not start in the back, as the back is much thicker and heavier than the fine hairs of the face frame area? Also, I think that by changing to a higher volume developer it would make everything develop at the same time. What are your thoughts?
The main reason the start of the front is because it’s very difficult to increase the spacings as you need to when you work from the back towards the front with this particular technique you can just use a lower volume as you described in this particular technique if you work slowly however this is a very quick technique to do and therefore changing developer with such a fast technique isn’t really necessary in salon life this would take me no more than 20 to 30 minutes to apply and wouldn’t take very long to process either obviously depending on colour results and depth of natural hair
I love it!
Superb Maritza ✌🏻😁
Omg loved the hair color at the end amazing job
Fantastic glad you like it
Were you using a 20 vol? I was expecting hugher lift, but this looks gorgeous! Nice and golden
This is brilliant thank you! Just to be clear, are you not putting any formula on the ends of the hair here? Looks like you went just down the top a middle.
Thank you for your question Sophie so for this particular technique we are just painting the surface of each of the sections I am painting the ends but I’m not saturating through to the underneath of the section Hope that makes sense
The Life Of Hair thanks so much for clarifying. Much appreciated. Really enjoying your videos!
Love it! ❤️❤️
That’s Fantastic Jennifer
I love it very nice 👍
Fantastic glad you love it ✌🏻
Very beautiful job! But... I've a question: can I do only foliage on face framing and not balayage, using this technique?... (sorry for my bad English... I'm a follower from Italy 🇮🇹)
Are you able to re apply on this type of technique? Love the video
Absolutely very very repeatable technique when the client comes back in in a few weeks time because of the simple nature of the technique it is unlikely that you’re going to take the same sections over and over again around the money piece it’s just like topping up a set of highlights you just repaint the root area
Luv your videos.. i think you need some good lighting for your vids mate.. cheers
Yes the lighting this video is not fantastic in fact this is because I had started filming at home due to the Covid lockdown situation but be assured I’ve got plenty of lights at my house now so it is all good thank you very much for your suggestion and observation to Improve the video quality
Hi James, I've been watching your videos for a while now and have learnt alot thankyou.
With the base break how long would you leave the tint on .
Kind regards Lulu
Fantastic Lulu glad you have been enjoying the videos I would say with ALLBASE breaking techniques that the best thing to do is watch them don’t leave them there only gonna take between 3 to 5 minutes maybe 10 in some cases to get the desired result Hope that helps all the best James
would you suggest doing the base color before this or after?
I would say if you’re going to do a base colour then I would probably definitely do it this so obviously if you do a base colour afterwards you will lose some of the Balyage technique
Lovely 😊 Did you tone afterwards. Also, why won’t clay lightener damage the hair as much?is it because it dries out and stop processing?
Thank you very much Adalene no I didn’t town after this application. Yes generally plays dry out and start processing a little bit sooner than a blue powder bleach they tend to also be a little less aggressive on the hair so giving you a little bit more time to play with the Hair’s condition e.g. not compromise it
I like all your tutorials did you used toner or a shadow root formula to blend?
No toner or a shadow on this one 👍🏻
Oh my God!! I’m falling asleep
Oh my God that is so funny I think I missed the mark with the music on this one so many comments about it I hope you enjoyed your nap
James I love this technique..i used it in the salon. I have a question.. if your doing it on previously lightened hair can u choose to put lowlights in on a fewof the sections you did with hilites.. the balyage sections I mean. Would that look ok?
Fantastic Lynn that is wonderful to hear If you are passing out on pre-existing blonde hair I really like using this technique ruclips.net/video/Cwi41Tck1bg/видео.html
Hi James,do you not have to cover with plastic wrap with blue bleach ?
Not necessarily Cheryl providing you get the mixing ratio right if you have a mixing ratio of 30 g of powder to 45 g of oxidant that will give you a nice consistency that you do not need to cover
Wooow and thats without the toning ??? i would love to do it on myself !
Yeah no toner, Obviously you could apply a toner if you wanted to you are you got a woman lift than I did. The trick to it is saturation getting enough product onto the hair to make sure that it lifts evenly and consistently
The Life Of Hair I thought it was important to tone to balance the ph or seal the hair and that it’s not good to just leave it raw ..as people say it lol again so confused
It looks beautiful but I'd really like to have seen the results on straight hair just to see the patterns better.
Yeah that’s fair enough thank you very much feedback all the best James
❤️
