Dizziness - A sensation of Off balance or Spinning sensations (Vertigo)
Light Headedness - A Sensation of Weakness followed by a Floating, or Empty or Hollow feeling in the head. Feeling of passing out or fainting.
Dizziness or Vertigo can be caused and are More common in Ear problems such as A Dislodged Crystal or an infection in the inner Ear and Light headedness is usually caused by a very large number of issues, Mostly Minor and Non life threatening.

Ive been having this swaying sensation lightheaded almost all day everyday..when I’m laying down, walking I have to grab onto something or even sitting down… legs feel heavy.. back hurts… doctor keeps saying it’s my anxiety… I’ve never been like this… don’t know if it’s a vitamin deficiency or spine or neck problems 😔

Hi Doctor, for about a month I have had bouts of lightheadedness, feeling faint, and occasionally a brief quick sensation in my head. I would describe it as feeling I’m only 70% there and not fully attentive. But strangely this tends to happen only when sitting down in the car or at a desk/table. Standing I feel 90-95% myself. Any thoughts?

@@virginiaalexander2090 I had this when i was younger. It's called orthostatic hypotension. My blood pressure went down when I stood up. Hope this helps.
Going through the same thing now. They’re testing for pots and diagnosed with vestibular migraines… saw 3 specialists… didn’t get anywhere really. On no meds… and this is so weird.

I've been dealing with dizziness and lightheadedness for 8 months. I can't go into stores without getting dizzy and feeling like I'm going to fall over. It's taking over my life. I can't even drive anymore without getting dizzy and I'm not on any meds. Any advice ?

I am going through this exact thing. The grocery store is a hell no. Today, my son had a dentist appointment and I couldn’t even take him because I woke up and felt like I was going to tip over. All blood tests are normal and they cannot find anything. I got a CT of mid section (they thought an artery was being compressed) and MRI of brain (to rule out brain tumor)… had so many tests done… it is literally unbearable. They just told me to hydrate but I have drink the same amount of water every day my entire life and I have never felt like this and I don’t think it’s dehydration and I left my psychiatrist office after she told me it’s just extreme anxiety.. I went to my cardiologist because I thought it was my heart because I have a heart arrhythmia and he gave me a two week monitor and they didn’t find anything crazy on that.. they sent me to an ENT Doctor Who said it could be vestibular migraines and I am waiting on a tilt table test from a specialist that is like six months out to rule out POTS watch a lot of people are getting after having long-haul Covid.
The only diagnosis I have had so far is “vestibular migraines” and I’m not even sure that’s it.
I cannot do anything physical. At most, I'll be able to do an hour or two a day of activity on my feet. Then I will randomly get disassociated, lightheaded, and need to hold onto things. Only way I've been able stay in my dark room and watch stuff because it distracts my brain from it. I have bad anxiety and also suffered from a concussion 6-8 months ago. I have no idea where to start on how to fix the issue.
I would say you should have your spine looked at by a corrective chiropractor. Let me know if you need help find one near you.
I did go to a chiropractor, and the essay did show a stenosis in my back, and my neck, which weren't there before. I went t him for the dizziness, but I left the practice because he told me nothing, and was hesitant to answer questions. He would consider my question, and agree with my asking it, but not answer it. I was confused, and went to my doctor to get into physical therapy,

I just came across this. I've had a series of odd medical issues. They discovered i have mild scoliosis. However they don't link it to any of my symptoms. Ive had backache, sciatica, pins and needles in my hands, severe burning in my left shoulder. I developed a sore throat that lasted a year. Then tinnitus with this weird light headed feeling. My neck gets stiff with it as well and i get a headache. I saw an ent specialist who said my balance was unaffected and that i had visual vertigo. Any ideas?

I was having dizzy spells and my heartbeat went crazy then I'd be soaked in sweat, only to find out I needed heart surgery, turns out I'd survived the widow maker, twice. Had my Aortic valve replaced and a triple bypass.
How did you know you needed heart surgery?

I’ve just recently recovered from mono but ever since I first contracted it I’ve been feeling a lightheaded sensation. all of my nutrional and blood work test came back healthy but I still feel lightheaded could this be a left over symptom from mono or more of an anxiety thing? I lost over 80lbs so my blood pressure gets low. Under 120/80. I know i get lightheaded after take bp meds because it lowers my pressure.
I would talk with the doctor that prescribed the bp medication.
Dr. Gregg, I have been dealing with a "mild" form of lightheadedness for about 3 weeks now. Some days it appears to be subsiding. But other days it seems to come back a little stronger, but not to the point of feeling faint. I do have what seems to be slight tightness in my neck muscles starting from my left ear/jaw area, right down to my left shoulder. I also have slight tightness at the base of my scull in back. I wish I were back living in Chicago. Then I could come see you. However, I am living in Phoenix Arizona. For me, I honestly don't have no idea. I have multiple factors that could cause it. From panic attacks, anxiety & GERD. I use Omeprazole for my GERD its helped me sleep, I used to wake up everyday after few hours of sleep with a horrible burning in my throat & cheat. It was horrible, now it's gone thanks to that medication, might wanna ask your doctor what you can have for your acid reflux if its bothering you!

It's lifestyle. What's your circadian rhythm like? Going to bed late? Sleeping in? Different times etc. Hormones become imbalanced, hence the extreme light headedness, palpatations, hair falling out easily, etc. Also check things like b12 and vit D levels.

My 15 yr old daughter suddenly started having symptoms of fading, about to pass out, and dizziness. So far its been a few weeks. Happens mainly at school, but also at home. I live in Japan and having trouble finding a chiropractor. The places I have gone will not adjust my shoulder the way I feel it needs to be adjusted. Rather they use magnets and hand touch to "guide" my organs into the correct place. The other chiro. Did just push on my back over and over with his fingers near my spine. I go to the dr at the hospital and had an x-ray months ago when I was admitted for my intestines.
I understand they are the professional and respect that. Yet I feel as if my shoulder ball and socket joint is misaligned due to a rear-ended car accident where I was the passenger. I wss seat belted in and my right arm whiplashed in front of me while is was sitting up and turned left looking at the driver. We were stopped at the time the car hit us from behind. Do you have any advice on how I can better suggest a more aggressive adjustment?

Hello I’ve been experiencing a spaced out lightheaded situation for 7 months now I don’t know what’s causing it but I do know that I have mucus stuck in my left ear which has caused slight tiniitus the doctor said it’s most likely glue ear do you think this is the reason I feel like this I got this symptom 4-5 weeks after getting glue ear please help I was stressing out a lot during that time and I still am now not knowing for sure what it is blood test was all fine

I’ve been dizzy since February… and they diagnosed me with vestibular migraines but nothing is helping. I’ve had iv fluids bc they told me I was dehydrated… I’ve bought electrolyte popsicles… I’ve seen specialists for everything… blood sugar.. heart… GI… ENT. This is exhausting and I miss my old ways that I’d complain about… it wasn’t half as uncomfortable as this.

Can scoliosis cause these symptoms? I always experience light headedness, feeling nauseous, and now muscle weakness. When I climb the subway stairs (I live in nyc) these symptoms intensify with fast heartbeat and shortness of breath. My hemoglobin is always at a 7 or 8 and I’m tired of being told “you don’t look sick” then have to leave the hospital with no help. I feel frustrated because I’ve been dealing with this since i was 26. I can’t let my 30 pass me by too.
i was doing dishes and all of a sudden i got light headed and my ears got stuffy. had to sit down for a good while till i was okay. i had only eaten cereal and nothing else during the day. also felt tingling in mostly my arms.. drank water all day.. but yea i felt like i was about to have a bad night.

Hi doc.. I have dizziness and lightheaded.. this is my second time getting it.. The first time I had it is woke up in the middle of the night dizzy I go in and out of sleep and every time I wake up I feel dizzy and in the morning I am so dizzy I have to lay in my bed… it comes and last for about 30 seconds to a minute once every hour until about midday.. the last time I was very hungry so I tried to eat and get some fluids in my system..

Sometimes I wake up was lightheaded and it freaks me out. I can feel too powerful for me to handle. I will try again drink more water and stay hydrated. Doesn't happen often but, maybe twice a year. It's pretty scary though

This happened to me this morning and I felt like I was fighting to stay conscious. I drank a bottle of water, then sat in the shower for 15 mins… got out, drank more water and laid in bed for an hour until I felt well enough to get up. It’s weird and bodies do weird things.

It turned out it was my middle ear (BPPV) after many visits to the doctors and ER they finally figured it out! My ENT doctor had me do a ENG/VNG test and was able to diagnose the problem! I did my therapy watching RUclips, I did the upside down somersault for vertigo and it cured my vertigo.
This lightheaded feeling came from nowhere. I was given meds. They thought it was my pressure. It’s not working. I’m still looking lightheaded. It’s been going on for a few weeks. I need some direction. I’m Leary to go places. I think I’m going to fall out. I’m going to the doctor again. They are going to reevaluate me. They don’t know what is going on. Please give me a different approach.

Going through this now. One day it’s there and the next it’s gone but it keeps coming back.

Hi Dr,
I'm really hoping that you may be able to point me in the right direction for my mother. She's 77 and has been suffering with 'this lightheadedness', as she says, for about ten years, on and off. I'd say over the last 6 years it has gotten much worse to the point now where I feel like we have exhausted many different avenues. The final one is next week where she has been referred to an ENT clinic, where they will do all their tests.
She's not deficient in B12 or D, she takes a very low dose blood pressure medication (her dr has reduced the dose and played around with timings of taking the medication to no avail). She also takes thyroxine as she had her thyroid 'killed off' about five years ago to cope with hyperthyroidism, but doesn't take anything else. She's moderately active and not at all overweight. She's recently had her eyes tested and regular checks with the dentist and they are all fine.
We live in the UK and I'd be so grateful if there's any way that you could recommend a clinic that does the kind of tests that you describe here. I worry about her falling over and it's at a tipping point where I feel it's stopping her from living her life. Anyway, I understand that you have the whole world asking, but if you could point me in the right direction, that would be amazing. Thanks so much in advance.

I had a heart attack and stents last year in March and since then I'm having this issue I don't know it is vertigo or what. It's not like the things around me are spinning but just feeling of unsteady lightheaded disorientation. Even sometimes it happens with the eye movements. May be it's related to anxiety I'm having after HA. Anxiety may worsen it. But it really disturbs me a lot.
