- This could be THE BEST SHAPED BOARD that Antihero makes, but why is no one talking about it?
This is the Antihero Huffer deck and this shape, and the dimensions makes this one of the best shaped boards that I've ever skated!
Join me on 2 separate sessions as I put this deck through all types of tests to find out if this really is the Best shaped board that Antihero makes
i have the grimple stix cardiel on that shape, i love it. indy mid 149s, 1/8" risers, x97 56mm v6, bronson g3, DIY deck rails. i have it looser than my usual, it's fun to pump/carve/cruise

Hey dude, glad you've found the Huffer! I've just set up the Grimple "Easy does it" egg. 10" wide, 14.66 wheelbase. Really fun board - be keen to see you try it. My daily driver is the Huffer though - it just feels right!!

Yo, I got that Jacuzzi on your wall. Pretty much the same shape as the Anti Hero, just 8.75 version. I love it. Great vid.

First of all great videos. It is kinda weird for me to look at that deck as “shaped” having started in ‘86. But, technically it is different than a popsicle. I ride on 56mm Dragons 🐉 and it’s funny to hear them called “cruisers” too. I have two Lucero Black Label decks that are 10”x32”, but I have size 13 feet. My Vision Shredders were 80A, and they were my first wheels. Anyway, not a dig. You’re awesome, always the best boss! 🇨🇦🌏🌍🌎🛹🛹🛹👍😃
Also, I wish I had nabbed a Grosso deck from them before they stopped. It’s got a huge nose on it. Great Vert/Pool/cruiser.

I'm pretty basic with my shapes and just like skating egg boards but Heroin Skateboards definitely make the best eggs 👌🏼
I was thinking of getting that Krooked 9.1 egg, but found a Jacuzzi Pilz on sale at the local shop that I couldn't pass up. I've been enjoying it. I'm looking forward to your review of the Krooked. The Huffer looks like a great shape, too. I would have to sneak it into the house if I bought another deck. lol I'm also wondering about your Slappy/Ace comparison. It looks like you've been riding the Ace for a while, so I'm guessing you're sold on those! But, I'd love to see that comparison one day. Thanks for your videos, Leon!

I'm still skating them but just copped a new set of Slappy's (my next video is about them) so I've still got a bit of skating to go on those but then I feel like I need to skate the Stage 4's for a few weeks as well to remember what they feel like so I can give a proper comparison 🤔

i bet you'd really like the santa cruz dressen rose crew board/shape, kind of a modern take on a '90-'91 shape. i have one in the stack, but i usually only have one shaped setup at a time. i have the blue one, but the black stain with teal/pink is sick too.

After your review, I've been riding the Jacuzzi Jackson Pilz egg shape and experiencing similar problems with the Heroin eggs (the wheelbase is too short for my bow legs) and it is just about the perfect shape and concave for me. I'm also looking forward to the Krooked Egg review as I considered that deck.
Haha yeah dude, that’s the only negative I have with them but I get why they do short wheel bases.

Love me some good shaped directional board!… I’m currently on a 8.75 Flip Lance Mountain deck that’s directional shaped, and I’m loving it. This deck here looks hella sick!! If only you could get the same shape in a 8.75….

@@LeonPaxton i have some og stage 5 149s with grindking inverted kingpins, the clearance is crazy. i had to drill the new hole pattern in the plates.
@@LeonPaxton Please do man! To me the Stage 4's are stable than Ace. They also have a tighter turning radius incredibly. Ace have a wider "arcing" turn. Love your vids! From NZ
What size trucks you using on that deck?
I've got 9" Ace AF1's here but they sit slightly out since this board tapers towards the trucks. If I was buying trucks specifically for this deck than I would get 8.75" trucks 👌🏼

I heard such good things about Skate Samples GFB deck which is a 9.1 symmetrical egg with a 14.375 wheelbase that I bought 5 of them for $135 US plus $25 shipping and couldn’t be happier. I had previously been riding the Heroin 8.75 Anatomy of an Egg and the wheelbase was too short. This is perfect width and wheelbase. 5 great decks for less than the cost of 2 Heroin here in the states. Plus it’s my understanding that they’re manufactured by BBS.

i like riding it backwards for slappy crooks, i feel more stable with the full tail as the nose
I thought about that as had the same issue - didn’t feel right / stable hurling into curbs like that
For real!? I've always found the tapered noses easier for slappy crooks because there's less nose to get in the way lol
@@LeonPaxton i'm kinda still getting the hang of them, but i find it easiest to approach like a slappy bs noseslide and just lift my back foot higher to give clearance for the truck to get in.

Been mulling over riding something wider for a while and have been looking at egg shaped decks to that end. But all the eggs I can find are either too wide, have short wheel bases or noses/tails that are too short for my liking. This one is the only one I can find that looks to have some really good specs.
Might order one for the heck of it just to try. Will probably stick some 6.1 Venture V-Hollows on it (8.75” wide). How wide is the deck over the trucks?
Yeah dude, this board is actually so good! Those trucks will fit perfectly as well. the truck measurement is about 8.8"-8.9" 👌🏼

Clearly you are skilled enough to adapted to each shape/wb, but at this point what is your preferred width and wb for a deck?
Thanks dude! It's hard to narrow it down exactly but I would say I'm most comfortable with a board that's 9.4"-9.75" and a wheel base that is 14.5"-15" but it's just so hard to find boards that are in that range in a shape that I like lol

I know a few of the older guys that skate these. Don't know why people stick to small popsicles (trends and conservatism prob.)? Bigger boards ride better and, as Andy Anderson especially proves, you can trick on any size board.
100% dude! the bigger the board, the more comfortable and stable and then you can find the right dimensions that work for flip tricks and everything else 👌🏼
I have the Scallywag board, and it looks amazing under the feet, but for some reason every time I skate it, my feet hurt like crazy within a few minutes. It is the only board that makes my feet hurt in that way, I can't figure it out.

I'm not sure man, I do know that Hockey & April have really steep kicks but that's only from what I've seen in skate shops 🤔

What axle width did you use on this deck?
i have 149(8.5") indy mid standards on mine and i think they're perfect. 159s would prob be fine too, but i usually prefer narrower trucks with wider wheels and still end up a little bit tucked.
I'm running the Ace AF1 Hollow 9 inches here which sits out slightly but I didn't want to get smaller trucks just for this board lol

I skated the krooked egg for about a month. Had the same problem you had with the anti hero. Everything went perfect but somehow my kickflips didn't worked as always 😒
Haha man, I have no idea why I couldn't kickflip this thing but thew struggle was real!
So the Krooked egg is good for everything else?
@@LeonPaxton yes, maybe the problem with kickflips was me. I really don't know. But i had amazing big spins with that board. Gaps, transfers, out of grinds and slides. Boardslides, lipslides and all kind of grinds went super easy. Nose and tailslides where kind of a struggle but other than that i really recommend the eggs by krooked 👌

let me tell you anti hero decks are fucking TANKS i have 8.75 wide deck a bit longer than a normal deck since its for transition and man its so fucking heavy xdxd. but yeah anti hero has some good stuff if you dont mind the weight.

@@foulweather6625 DLX has gotten really specific about their WBs recently. It was 14.75 for years but recently started showing up as 14.81. My guess is that the newer number is correct but they probably still measure the same as .06 of an inch is within the margin of error unless you're measuring with something mechanical.

I've skated that board before and it's sick actually! That would be great man but I think I'm going to start going up in board sizes again soon so these 9.1's are going to start feeling smaller and smaller lol
