On my G class the spare wheel holder is secured from swinging by the factory tire mount however the spare is still supported by the rear bar. So I open the door and the spare swings out with it. You should consider modifying yours to do this.
You can do that in a minivan in the US. All paved roads including on mountain tops... Could even use a compact car and a tent. My friend cross the country on a motor bike with a tent...great trip that was.
@@reludennis I have gone up from Victoria in Aus to Cape York and come back down. A round trip about 9000km on roads in a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi. In Dec 2020 I was going through a town called Seymour in NSW during the floods. As the water level rising my lancer had its engine nearly die lol. There was a cargo van who didnt risk it before me. You wont run into that problem on a modded land cruiser. Yep. I def need a modded 4x4.
Hey Ronny, have you thought of getting a ladder mounted to the side of the vehicle? You wouldn’t have to put the kitchen away and shut the door to get to the roof and wouldn’t have to swing the 2nd tyre out when you eventually put that on. just a thought, would always be there and you wouldn’t have to pack anything away to use it and you can also get into the tent without sliding everything back inside.
Hi Ronny, It seems that your break in Bali has done you a power of good. I also have the Thorburns rear bar on my 78 Troopy and love it - it is rock-solid! I would very interested to see how you modify the rear ladder to make it compatible with the passenger side rear wheel carrier. Keep up the great content!
Thanks Noel, We think the modification of the ladder will quite neat and easy with the help of a pro fabricator like OTF. The cut lines are worked out already so it’s just a matter of getting it done and powder coated
Fabulous videos, thank you for your logical explanations. How about portal hubs to add lift and unload the transmission, with reduction gears in the hubs for larger tyres.
Every time I think of a troopy as an ultimate tourer I remind myself a single cab Canter has a smaller wheelbase and tighter turning circle with more room for living out of the back and can take 37’s without any engineering. But the downside is overall project would be twice as big. At least with a troopy you’ve got something useful while the project evolves.
I have got a GX 2oo series with barn doors and it has a tire rack that needs to be opened before you open the right hand rear door. Mine two has a dent like yours.
the only real mos I would do with the rear doors is do half and half rather than 1/4 & 3/4 door as the original doors aren't really designed for bush bashing and going to remote places
Always loved the content. Always loved the adventures. Starting to hate the editing & music. In my opinion it gets out of control and disturbs more, than it adds to the video.
Mate, you might be the first Aussies to admit your big GME antenna mounted on the bull-bar is annoying, cause eye fatigue especially on a long drive. Couldn't it be mounted on the side of the rig like the Americans do with a short (5inch) antenna?
Hey Ronny, could you do us a favour and have a look yourself at this video. I you have the volume adjusted so you can hear the commentary, but when the talkin' stops, the DOOF DOOF starts - really loud. Man that stuff would rattle the filling out of your teeth.! I find myself continuously adjusting the sound level. Otherwise, I love your work - have been a subscriber for years.
Very good description. Lots of work but I am sure it's worth every bit. Great build. Eager to see the finished product.

I have half the mind to replicate this setup and travel across USA. These troop carriers are awesome!

@@reludennis Everyone else does the sprinter van thing though. This has more character.

Like we would expect anything else!
Thanks for going up that learning curve for us again 👍

Looking good Ronny! Can't wait to see where you take it first! 🤠
Nice one, Ronny. That roo bar really sets it off. Looking forward to 'the lap' big time.
Like wise mate, super keen to start
You should also put a Sun Visor
BRAVO ZULU!!! Great vid and upgrade!

THANK YOU FOR SUPER DETAILED VIDEO AS GREAT TIPS LOOK OUT VERY TIME
Troopy is looking the goods Ronny 🤙🏼
Loved the armoured bar work disappearing in that drone shot, looked wicked
Missing your drone 😜

Nice project 😊
COOL STUFF!

Practical and well thought out mods, based on experience (lc79) as well,
Awesome video mate, we need to do a weekend trip away if you like when you test the new setup
Good vid mate , BUT , every one needs a towbar ,ps what happends if you see a bargain boat 4 sale ???????????
Already kissed a bank with the rear left quarter? Ouch! Troopy getting there nicely!
Very nice 😊👍
You may need to put some mesh behind those four radiator protector holes. One strong branch or root could still see the radiator U/S

Hay Ronny love the content, how do you find the Razr mt's in the sand compared to the Trail grapplers? cheers mate,
Zombie Apocalypse Approved 👍

I'll go rhythm
Ronny, what's the difference between workmate and GXL model land cruisers?
BATTLETRUCK EH ,MELS GUNNA BE PISSED !!!!!!!!
Nice light weight set up😂
I don’t think light weight will somehow fit into this build 😅
One of these days with an intro outside like he always does will have a roo come after him to square up
The Troopy looks great. Purely out of curiosity: Whats the weight of the vehicle now?

I miss your Weber Q videos. Maybe time to bring it back?
Hi Ron, With your Cable run from the Battery I notice you have a Fuse Holder mounted on the side of the Body, did you use a Rivnut for that or ??

looks like Ronny watched too many Russian videos with cars)) video look way better now)
Hey Ronnie, what’s the armrest cushion you have on this and your 79?
It was a gift from Arabia
Johannesburg carjacking proof
Yo Ronny, did you consider ATD 3 post or Apocalypse bull bar? I think they woulda looked beast on the 76 😮🙏
Hey Ronny. What happened to the Suzuki SJ (Sierra) project?
Mate, you might be the first Aussies to admit your big GME antenna mounted on the bull-bar is annoying, cause eye fatigue especially on a long drive. Couldn't it be mounted on the side of the rig like the Americans do with a short (5inch) antenna?
It could but I’ve put mine on the rear of the roof
@@Ronny_Dahl it's a good idea to mount on the rear, however still more than 96/97% of Aussies mounted in their Bull-bar along with their cellphi.
🤙
Off topic.. Do you still have your camp trailer? the Patriot?
No not anymore, I didnt want to store a trailer so I'll be borrowing them in future which also allows me to try more things.
Does the ladder foul on the accessory arm?
Yes at the moment it dose until I adjust it
what about off road animal? Did you consider them?
I did but I didn’t personally like the look of them
Great stuff but man those cuts during the skid install are rough. Too jumpy
It was ment to be like that 😉. Listen to the beat and the clip ✂️
How did we get the ding above the left rear tail light Ronny?
It was there when I bought it unfortunately, so no interesting story behind that 😅
how to pronounce that rego actually ?
Ragnarok google it

I’ll look into it, didn’t seem that loud when we watched it back
Great mods, terrible edit, is the bling in the vid necessary
