I want to make one thing clear. The killer was not taken down by a tactical team but by an off-duty border patrol officer who was having lunch 40 miles away. He drove there, passed all the cops standing around in the hallway, ignored the on-sight commander's order, breached the room wearing a baseball cap, and had a shoot-out with the gunman and killed him. All the so-called, police officers who were there should be fired and disband the Uvalde police department, the home of cowards.

Let's not forget the unarmed mother they put in cuffs. She talked her way out of them, snuck off out of the way and hopped the fence, ran in, got her kids, and got the hell out.
No training. No armor. No firepower. No backup. No one who knew what she was doing.
There is NO excuse for these officers, none. I'm not saying that from an ignorant place either. I deployed as military police. I have at least a base knowledge.

How could a person end someone’s life who is just reaching for a wallet. That’s what it takes to be a cop in America today, you’ve got to be a murderous coward who only cares about your own safety

Bottom line is the officers that didn't take action were cowards! They should resign or be fired at the very least. Yes it's scary but that is their job. I don't care what the chief told them. They have the duty to protect. They were scared! Everything else is just an attempt to cover up the obvious. They were afraid of being shot. Those cowards should have thought about how scared those kids were. Those officers in the Gorge Floyd case were charged for standing around and not helping. I think this is worse. There plenty of jobs that are not dangerous that need people. Maybe that's a better place for those officers because wearing a badge is obviously not the right line of work.

They are being critical of how the police handled this but once again no reporting on the law enforcement that went in and got their own kids out, then denied access to parents that wanted to do the same. They knew that the State policy regarding shooting was to get their but to where the shooter was located because they had training not long ago. The policy says that if you cannot handle that kind of a situation, then you need to find another career.

An apology in no way can be accepted Bc the loss was too great but the coward should stand before the residents . Hopefully , some sort of criminal charges should be brought against the Captain . Several years ago a school shooting occurred at the high school I attended. Except this shooting was done by the school resource officer (also a local police officer) who shot and killed a deranged man who entered the school, following a student who was late getting there. The school immediately went into lock down and the resource officer confronted the man who was armed with guns and intent on using them, in the hallway. She tried at first to diffuse the situation but when she was unable to do so she shot & killed him before he could endanger anyone else. The school was Sullivan Central High School in Blountville, TN. The officers name is Carolyn Gudger, and in my hometown she is a hero. She is the perfect example of what a school resource officer should be. A courageous woman who did her job, putting her life on the line for the students/faculty she was hired to protect. I was very disappointed that there was not a lot of media attention surrounding this incident, except for locally of course. I just really wanted people to see what a difference having a well trained, courageous police officer who takes their promise to protect and serve seriously on campus can make in these situations
