    This is beautiful, Katherina! I've made edible fabric before but was not happy with it, too gelatinous. You've just taught me that I was applying the mixture much too heavily. Thank you for, yet again, teaching an old dog a new trick! XOXO

    • @CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ
      @CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ  5 лет назад

      Hi Sandrita, this paper is very delicate when is in contact with water or humidity...so the best thing is work with a big brush so the process of applying and distributing the mixture is fast and uniform.

    • @sandrasmiley3499
      @sandrasmiley3499 5 лет назад

      @@CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ I think I just put far too much of the mixture on both sides. My fabric felt like rubber and was sort of gross. Also, I could not get it to stick to the modeling chocolate, no matter what I used for glue. If finally attached it with pins.

    • @CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ
      @CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ  5 лет назад

      Hi Sandrita! pins? ...this is the second time I made and used edible fabric and as you say is very difficult to attach it...I used wood sticks the first time...and this last time by fortune the fabric was sustained by the doll arms...but next time I will try with royal icing...or a fondant paste...have you tried these?

    • @sandrasmiley3499
      @sandrasmiley3499 5 лет назад

      @@CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ I first tried edible glue, made with Tylose and water, which I use for everything else, then melted chocolate, long pins (this was on Cleopatra, so no danger of being eaten), and finally Super Glue, which barely worked well enough to hold it on. I have not tried royal icing. Actually, I had so much trouble with it, I sort of hate it. It is almost two years old and it is still flexible; that's why I think I put too much of the gelatin mixture. I would really like to know how other people get it to stick!

      Me too...maybe we should ask to Raquel...I will try with royal icing next time...it is supposed that royal icing glue strong parts...pleas let me know if you know something about it. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs!

    Would using an electric beater yield the same effect as the whisk? It looked like a lot of hand whisking. Great tutorial, will definitely try it.

    • @CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ
      @CAKESBYKATHERINAPEREZ  4 года назад

      Hi Durba, yes it will; take more time only. Also you can do it whisking by hand whisk but takes even more time. Thank you.

    I would put cornstarch down before laying the paper down on the silpat. I would also mix the pearl dust or glitter into the gelatine mixture. I believe it was all brushed off with the cornstarch.

    would it maybe come off easier if you flipped it over and peeled the silicone mat of the fabric instead of trying to pull the fabric? Like when you take the sheet off the sugar veil mats? That way you are pulling the silicone mat and not the fabric.

    At 9 minutes - surely you would've been able to get more through the sieve if you had warned it a little. The gelatin was obviously setting.
