I have many packs in my inventory and experience with them including my first, which is the military medium external frame rucksack I was issued during my service. This Teton 85l, although a little heavy for the capacity of modern hiking packs, is easily my favorite. I compensated for the extra pack weight by subbing the Leef 0 degree sleeping bag( which is a good bag for the $), for a paria down bag instead. For $75 American, which is what I paid on Amazon, it’s a great value pack and your review basically mirrors my experience with it 🙂👍
Yes anything down is a good way to loose weight! During the Sumer months for years I only ever used a military wool blanket for sleep system. Last year I purchased a down blanket. A fraction of the weight and one 5th the size! But I think it is safe to say if anyone goes larger on pack size your also ok on the extra weight. One would after all be carrying out more gear. Thanks for sharing your experience Wes! Take care be well✌️
My pac days are long behind me, but I will say the old canvas military surplus pacs definitely did not have all them pockets, and I don't think zippers were inveted back then either 🤣😅
Thank you for your six month review of the Teton backpack. Mine came from Amazon just yesterday and I can't wait to use it. I am curious, how tall are you? I am 5'8" tall and I really like the balance of the bag.
I'm a short guy at 6'6", but a stocky build and found the pack caries fine as long as the lid is filled with light items like a jacket for example. Take care and have fun out there Wade✌️
You have sold me on this pack a year later since the vid dropped. Thanks for the review. All I wanted to know is if the belt buckle straps can fit my phones lol. You had a nice freeze frame of the size and they seem really big. If you could give me the length of that zipper, that would be epic.
Hi Mr. Thanks for checking in👍 If your referring to the zippered pockets on the waste belt it plenty big for any cell phone. However what I have done is picked up a cell phone case on Amazon that is a tactical style and have it clipped to the harness. I did find a video of mine where you can see it clearly. Here is the link to that. Hope this helps✌️ ruclips.net/video/BlezaSqQ1q0/видео.htmlsi=65m7HH2Hik7MKVSa
Thank you so much for making this video. I am planning to go on a three month expedition with several of my friends and I am currently looking for a backpack to carry all of my gear.
Great video. Very informative & told me everything I needed to know about this backpack. The extra clips showing the pack in use kept my attention & showed you went a step above the others! Keep adding those clips & you will surely grab everyone else’s attention too!
I'm happy this was helpful to you and many thanks for the kind words, it was my intentions to produce a true review and not a table top with specs! Take care GS✌️
I certainly would entertain that idea! What I really would like is to work with them on designing an actual canoe pack!!! Thanks Paul, appreciate you hanging out✌️
Great review. This is the kind of review I like to see. Well edidted. The video clips of you actually using it in the field made everything you spoke on clear and concise. Well thought out , perfect execution. Thanks for taking the time to put this together to share your thoughts. I feel more confident in purchasing this pack now.
Thank you so much for the kind words David! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and just as a follow up, I have been using this pack extensively year round and it is holding up quite well👍
Thanks for the video…I just purchased this bag. Can you recommend a pack duffle for a fully loaded one? I am traveling from TX to HI next week. Thanks for the great help!
Hey your welcome Travis. However I don’t have a recommendation for a duffle. I use a few different types that are military. There are certainly plenty of options out there. Thanks for asking ✌️
Awesome thorough review Marc! Even though I’m the guy who couldn’t get his raincoat out of his canoe pack 😂 Suffered on that trip a little 😂 Nice job Brother! 👍🏻🍻
Great review, Marc. These seem like a good pack and has lots of features. I own two of the Teton Sports sleeping bags and they are fantastic quality for the price. They are the XXL size with rectangular shape that are roomy for one and can be zippered together to make one huge bag. I carry one in my truck on winter drives in case of a breakdown/road closure/etc. They come with a stuff sack with cinch straps that result in a small package for the large bag. Teton Sports packs like the one you show here are something I'm going to look at and perhaps add to my gear. All the Best for the new year, Marc. A la prochaine mon ami.
I love Teton Sports! I too find they have a very good quality at an affordable price! Nature Hike I find is like the as well, a good value for the money! Thanks Craig🍻
.First that the frame fits well on your body, safe but easy buckles, pockets to store delicate things, and others for easy access, it is important that it have all the necessary compartments for personal needs. We cannot attach things to it because they would be a hindrance to walk. You have to think of everything. Water, camera, emergency shoes, sleepin, lamp, etc. I practiced mountaineering for 20 years. The only place that has a coniferous forest here in Baja SOUTHERN CALIFORNAI, I WENT UP 5 TIMES A YEAR. GREETINGS TO MY GOOD FRIEND.
Hi Coyote, great to hear your adventures! I have never seen the desert and would probably melt out there 😆 Don't forget to bring your camera with you next time in the mountains! Be safe be well Coyote✌️
How's she goin'? I like your reviews Marc. You know what is useful and what is 'fancy stuff'. This sure looks like a great pak. I liked the padded waist band too. Thanks for sharing and take care!!!
Well I just bought that pack. Glad to see 6 months usage with no seams or zippers disintegration. $119.00 US right now. Thanks for the tips, lifting fanagle, etc. Good day to ya'.
I could tell within 10 seconds we are like minded. Thank you for the fact filled experience based information. Keep loving the outdoors and stay safe bud.
I just bought this pack, thanks for the video its the only one I can find about this model I returned the 65L version because it was way too small for anything hoping this one fits the bill for all my hammock camping gear
85 L is a good size, plenty of room and as long you're not through hiking for days the extra weight in gear can be manageable! I just used it last weekend for an over night and probably had 80lbs in it and it performed well! Thanks for checking in✌️
@@OpenAirOutdoors Im disabled now I just need a large pack for my hammock camping gear to store in the jeep. I dont hike anymore with my injury, I cant sleep on the ground , thanks again

That sounds like a great time👍 So far the pack is proving quite durable, no tears or zipper problems! Have fun out there✌️
Hi love your content here. Does the 85L come with the zippered pockets in the waist panels? Maybe you mentioned it perhaps I missed it.
It does!

What are the loops for At the bottom of the pack that has the one little grommet in each one of them??
They are for attaching trecking poles.
