Hi Erik. As you know I have watched all of your videos. Today I posted a video on how to fix a no comm on a Mini Cooper, and shortly after the 8 minute mark I threw you a complimentary shout out for your channel. Your channel deserves more traffic, and I know some of the guys who watch my videos will appreciate yours. Cheers!
Perfect video my brother my problem was the thick red and black wire that plugs to the bcm on the red panel pushed it in and now cold ac thank you 🙏🏽 very helpful
You just saved me a shop bill!! Thanks bro. 👍 much appreciated!! It’s awesome to have people that are willing to share their knowledge to others. Thanks for helping me out!
I really appreciate your video. Seeing your work through the diagnostics saved me loads of time. My symtoms were exactly the same as the car you were working on. However, I took an extra step and removed the D10 pin from the connector and found it burned. I replaced that D10 pin from a good junkyard donor and the controls have been working fine ever since. Maybe you could contact the customer and see if that is the case with thier car. GM really should beef up those connectors.
That was a very thorough diagnosis, well done. I miss the days of lever-operated cables that opened the various blend doors, they were so simple. I hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!
Good job as usual. But I would do 1 more step verify that there is no issue in the power feed wire in the connector to the BCM between the pins. A possible repair would be to source external power to the relay from another ignition on circuit.
This was a masterful display of pedagogical gift!!! Man! You really explain things like no one else I've come across. You should really look into teaching..
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. people like you make the world a better place. Please, can you share the link to the wiring diagram? I will gladly be grateful if you do.
Excellent thought and fault diagnosis process as always, but I was just wondering if the HVAC system is the only system that is affected by the loss of power, could it not be powered up from another source, say a third party relay installation ?
We gotta get some stickers. You are putting out awesome content with great explanations on thought process and fix. I suggest a bit of competition, from the viewers, for a nice logo layout and color options. Set up an E-mail just for us to submit and you pick the best or we vote. Getting the people involved and inspired is a wonderful thing. Never stop learning!!
Love the video but I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ Having some major issues with it I'll be able to drive it for about 30 minutes to get to work but once I make it there it won't start after that until about an hour later. Can you help me out. ??
I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu . I am experiencing 2 problems. The first problem is when I turn the dial from air blowing on just my face or my face and feet , etc it is not fully aligned. The second problem is even if the fan is turned to 0 air is still blowing out . How do I fix this issue and set AC/Heat to auto for the vehicle ?
Great video as always, but why didn't you just add a relay outside of the bcm to replace the one for the hvac? All it's doing is putting a voltage to the controller when the ignition is on. Hell you can even use the same power feeds that would normally power that circuit. Fixed for about £4 plus labour
Eric, excellent info as always and really enjoyable video to watch and learn from the master BRAVO AND BRAVO and as always thank you for sharing. cheeeeeeers Bratha
I really liked the methods u used. That bcm and the relay were kind of hidden. Would u go used from a wrecking yard or new? Does it have to b programmed? On Scanner Danner Premium, he just did one and programmed with his Autel
I had same issue where ac controls would not light up/work. I noticed the red/black wire in d10 position was getting hot. I removed the harness from bcm and noticed plastic was black and looked a little burned from overheating. I removed red/black wire pin(d10) from harness cleaned up connector and spread open the connector so it would have better contact and installed wire pin back into harness and used dielectric grease to promote better contact. I put it all back together and ac started working. Wire didn’t get hot anymore. Few years later I’m having a new issue, ac controls light up, ac blows but only hot air and the compressor doesn’t kick on. It has intermittent issues but I noticed my coolant temp sensor not working when ac compressor not turning on. As soon as coolant temp starts working the ac compressor kicks on and runs cold. I know this a electric issue maybe BCM but not sure. I’m assuming I have another false contact wire at bcm I can’t find. I notice the 2am fuse at bcm has no volts when ac not working. 2amp fuse says it’s for gauges. Kind of lost don’t know what to check or replace now. I’ve replaced coolant temp sensor with gm brand and new pigtail and still have issues. Anyone have same issue and resolved?
Funny enough, i was having the same issue listed here, but it wasnt until you mentioned the 10a fuse in the interior panel that i realized mine was MISSING. I just used my car over memorial day weekend and AC was fine (i would know, 80*F this weekend in nothern indiana). Come to find out on memorial day afternoon that my AC wasnt working, and it was somehow due to a missing fuse??? Frickin friends im guessing
I have exactly same problem same codes, these is what I did, I have disconnected the module in dash (bottoms) the computer or module and cleaned all fuses, and spray (spray connector) all pins conectora, that inside in cabin, in the engine compartment I cleaned the grounds close to the fuse box and close to the radiator I radiator support, and I have resolved the problem
Have you had the power probe incorrectly “verify” a ground? I’ve ran into the issue of PP saying I have a good ground when in fact the problem was a bad ground.
Yeah, good point. In the interest of speed the probe helps to quickly find gross abnormalities, but voltage checks alone will always miss that feed or ground wire with high resistance. The tricky thing is, high current voltage drop testing on ground wires can be a problem because if the ground is bad, your test power could backfeed and possibly damage bystander devices on the same length of bad ground wire. By using a test light the current is low enough to be 'usually' safe, yet still sensitive enough to find resistance. Better yet, if possible disconnect devices before drop testing ground connections.
I finally found a video that shows what's wrong with my A/C control unit not powering ON. #1 - I BOUGHT A NEW CONTROL MODULE #2 - CHANGED THE F33 10amp fuse ( it was popped ) #3 the code is U0164 ? Can bus cant communicate with AC module? Please help ???
I saw there was power going into the module at the D-10 pin in the connector. could you have disconnected the connector and checked the D-10 pin on the module side? Maybe it wasn't making a connection that could have been fixed...
That GM design sucks. Blower motors draw more amperage as they fail. Now that has to go through the BCM circuit board. Usually you would only kill the blower resistor. Thanks for the video.
I got a similar problem on my Malibu not getting power to 20 and 10 fuse under the relay changed the box and put all new fuses on it did cut on for a min and shut back off cant figure out the issue
The fuses box cant be opened for further inspection,or maybe the relay itself or its driving circuit is what faults.Worst case scenario would be that flash memory needs reprogramming.
I have a problem with this same vehicle the only difference is that my 2011 Chevy Malibu ltz blower motor won't turn off unless i pull that 30amp fuse even with the key out the ignition neither do i have control of the speed

What did d 10 pin control
That was a very thorough diagnosis, well done. I miss the days of lever-operated cables that opened the various blend doors, they were so simple. I hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!
Great video, those modules always seem to fail on GM vehicles. Often right after the warranty does

This video is fantastic! Thank you, it is exactly what I needed and totally professional.
Just like always great video , thank you for taking your time and uploading great interesting case study. Absolutely love it
Great job. You should hot wire it to see if it works that way and maybe get it fixed for cheaper for the customer
Ivan would have fixed it, no parts required.
I bet ten bucks its a good ol solder joint.

Excellent systemstic diag by logical elimination. Thanks. Would you substitute an externally controlled relay? If not, why not? 😊
Great video. You always have a detailed analysis. Thank you for sharing.
Clear,concise & truly educational!
Bravo!!
Thanks. This was a very useful video. Very easy to understand the logic. (Cost of the BCM would have been an interesting point to know). Thanks again!
Eric, another good video on schematic reading. Extremely helpful. Thanks. Maybe it will return. 👍👍👍
Thanks for adding this video I currently have this same situation going on right now.
Whhhatttt advance level auto video on thanksgiving. Guess what I’m about to doooooo
Get that popcorn ready!
Man I hate it when we don't complete a video. Not your fault of course. Good stuff dude.
Great video man you really helped me out found the problem with your step by step instructions

Great video! Just check the #19 fuse and clearly blown thanks,
Very informative. Great diagnostic video. The step by step is invaluable.....
Great diag Eric and of course well explained. Thanks for sharing! 👍
Thanks for your help
Great video where did u get the diagram, Haynes manual is not as thorough as the diagram you used .
Yet another awesome diagnosis. You are awesome man.
Another great video so glad I found your channel. Happy thanks giving from the UK
Love the video but I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ

Awesome job as always!!!! You should have been a teacher!!!!! Good day my friend.....
Did you try to send power directly to the run relay or the HVAC control to verify that the HVAC control module works?
I really liked the methods u used. That bcm and the relay were kind of hidden. Would u go used from a wrecking yard or new? Does it have to b programmed? On Scanner Danner Premium, he just did one and programmed with his Autel
Great information can you just ran a jumper wire to bypass for testing
Good thorough troubleshooting.
Quick and great diagnosis !!!! Happy thanksgiving
HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT DOING CHEVROLET KEY PROGRAMMING IF YOU DON'T MIND SHARING ? THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GREAT VIDEO CONTENT .
Do you know what connector is equivalent to the x4 for the manual version?
Excellent detailed work!...happy thanksgiving bigman!....

Excellent Job Eric 👍👍
Great video, but a bummer for the car owner.
Can you do a video on how to take AC panel out
Funny enough, i was having the same issue listed here, but it wasnt until you mentioned the 10a fuse in the interior panel that i realized mine was MISSING.

My 2012 Malibu AC doesn’t turn on but the panel buttons are functional. The fuses seem fine what would it be?
Nicely done pal. Thanks for sharing this great video.
One question, Why only D10 power check carried out? What about the other powers next to it?
Solid diagnosis 👍 enjoyed this .
Great job thank you for your good information
great video Eric very well very clear
Hi Eric great job on videos keep up the good work
Very good thanks man
This is the problem in my 2009 Chevy Malibu , how much would this run to fix ?
What about where the wiring plugs into the bcm??? Check the plug for corrosion?? Happy Thanksgiving!
A power distribution diagram on mitchell would have been the diagram to look at to see why the relay wasnt getting sufficient power at body control
What if i have power to my HVAC control unit, but when i use any of the controls nothing happens? can it still be the BCM? all fuses are good
Another awesome case study!!!!
Nice scan tool you're using. I see a lot of YA-201 for sale, is that the same, just the new version?

You are cool bro... thanks for all the great videos!!
Where do you buy your relays
I finally found a video that shows what's wrong with my A/C control unit not powering ON.
#1 - I BOUGHT A NEW CONTROL MODULE
#2 - CHANGED THE F33 10amp fuse ( it was popped )
#3 the code is U0164 ? Can bus cant communicate with AC module?
Please help ???
Where are you at?
how can i bring work to you?
i have 08 sulverado overheata because cooling fans dont click ok. machanic in Kanas city can fix it
He's in Texas
@@JuanOrtiz-mo8be i will go to Houston then. Thanks
good job explaining it

This might help someone that actually knew wtf you were talking about.
Thanks Eric .
Nice work!
learning forum appreciated, thank you.
Great vid again
Where you get your modules
Great job
Good job bato!!!
I got a similar problem on my Malibu not getting power to 20 and 10 fuse under the relay changed the box and put all new fuses on it did cut on for a min and shut back off cant figure out the issue

21:25 It looked like you could have opened the BCM to see inside. Maybe a wire came loose in there.
How can I get an elctrical digram of malibu 2016
Thanks alot ❤️
Great job Eric.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I have a problem with this same vehicle the only difference is that my 2011 Chevy Malibu ltz blower motor won't turn off unless i pull that 30amp fuse even with the key out the ignition neither do i have control of the speed
un dianostico bien hecho
Great jop man
Grasias buen video
Where are you finding these diagrams?
You have to pay.
I'd probably bypass it / hotwire it to an ignition feed if it was my car. I bet that module ain't cheap.
yip jump into the feed for the blower motor. red / black e12 x4
If they don't park it they will when weather conditions force them to.
How many miles on the Malibu.
You located the problem. That's what counts.
That was great
How much this cost to fix?
