You have good conditions there guys. I recently did this in the cold, wet and windy conditions of mid - Wales (UK) with a 25 mph full value R to L wind onto a steel plate at 800 yards. With my 6.5 CM Savage mod 12 LRP in an MDT chassis I got a 3 fast shot group of 68 mm. I was using Nosler 140 grain RDF's at around 2800 fps. I've never used the 6 mm, but the 6.5 is wicked.
I've been shooting the 6.5CM for quite a while now and have done a lot of good things with it. It is a great cartridge. That being said, i'm getting into PRS competitions and i am building a 6mmCM to go along with my 6.5CM. Both rifles are semi auto. Both will likely have the same JP recoil eliminator on them. One has a JP supermatch barrel, the other a proof SS barrel. I can't wait to compare accuracy and time for shots on target. Really excited to have both to compete with. I don't reload though.... yet.

This is a cool comparison. But one thing I would point out as far as target acquisition, would be having a muzzle break on the 6mm CM which greatly impacts your ability to stay on target. With my muzzle break on my 6.5, I never lose sight picture which greatly increases back to back shot times. Same with a suppressor.

I can see that. But if the targets are around a foot or maybe even 1.5-2ft above the ground... you should be able to see splash from hits on steel in the dirt below the target. Especially a spotter with a spotting scope. I have a NF ATACR 7-35x56 which has phenomenal glass but when shooting at 1,400 yards in the heat with a lot of mirage.. i can't really spot single impacts on steel painted white. I was only able to hit a soda can at that distance when i had a neck shot next to a head shot and was able to see them finally together and make a holdover adjustment slightly lower to hit the soda can. The splash in the dirt i was able to see each time so i knew i hit steel... just didn't know where.
I need to look at the ballistics differences between 6mm Creed. and the .243 Win. The 6.5 Creedmore ammo is available everywhere now that is in it’s favor.
As far as initial recovery comparison, I would say it’s possible that the suppressor (mitigating recoil a bit more than a muzzle break) assisted bs the 6.5 with just the brake. But that’s just one of many variables in play.

I will add that my 6.5 Creedmoor shot a sub 1" group at 900 and sub 2" group at 1000 this past weekend! Consistently shooting half-moa out to 1000 yards. It's definitely a capable round!
I think the AI with the 60 degree throw and your suppressor helps with recoil management better than the brakes it looks like, makes for a overall faster rig than the other two in general, but 6cr vs the 6.5cr are soo close...Great video brother👌🤙
Lol should stay with the 6.5 After watching, I have six 6.5 and was thinking about a 6cm I am so glad I haven’t invested in any of those barrels I’m just gonna stick with what I know and that 65 is phenomenal
Still a nice comparison run. You guys need an eTarget for days like these.... It takes hits from yes/no, to how good, and there would still be data from these misses. Then, if the string were raised to four or five shots, the time stats would also show the story. Well done.
I noticed you had that delay for the 6.5CM. Do you think that 3sec delay contributed to faster shooting? For the 6CM it seemed the shooters were more on edge not knowing when the buzzer will go off

Shooting fast and control ones breathing with trigger control is not that compatible. Possible but difficult. Do not know if you guys watch any Biathlon. They shoot with high pulse. Pretty impressive. Best regards from Norway.
6mm CM (Laser) is the Bomb...Les recoil translates to quicker recovery time that translates to sharper accuracy and those elements are the Key factors Not energy for this application!
Making it difficult for me to choose between the 6.5 and 6 for my next long range shooter from my .308. Then hornady throws into the mix 6mm ARC. I'm not shooting for times so I'm still leaning to the 6.5 for a heavier bullet when reaching my goal of 1600m. My best is 1020m with my .308.
What barrel length is your 6mm CM? I have a 26" factory Savage barrled action (unsuppressed) and I'm getting MV at 3036fps. Using that same 108ELDM. I'd think you would have velocities closer if not higher than 3030
What rifle setup are you using that allows you to swap out barrels? Great video btw. I am the odd duck who has the 6mm Creed and the 6.5 PRC. I like the 6.5 Creed, but have not gotten around to grabbing one . . . yet!
To be honest I don't think most shooters will outshoot their barrel in the life of the rifle for 6mm. For an avid shooter a barrel swap is not that big of deal. The 419 comp is def worth it as well I run it on my 6mm savage.
Come on Ray You are an accomplished Shooter Rifle man with disposable income it doesn’t matter what cartridge you are using the results are the same and you don’t have to make excuses to anyone for buying five barrels if you so desired
@@XRING have you tried seeing the difference between 6.5CM and 6CM when shooting off barricades? I know there was a big difference between me running my 6.5 CM VS a buddies 6 Dasher on some barricades.
There’s no doubt that 6 Creedmoor presents benefits in recoil reduction and wind drift, but the issue is shooting fundamentals. A 6mm cartridge just provides more forgiveness.
I've had 6mm's... great round, my savage 6CM was nasty accurate but what I dislike about the 6's.. at the matches ive been to, they're very hard to see hits on steel at ranges, 750-1000 yards. They just dont move the plates and with 20 other guys shooting at the same time, its hard to even hear the impacts. I went back to 6.5 and have been fine with it. The recoil isnt that much of a difference, unless you're talking 6br/6GT..
I shoot a 22-250AI and a 22br both with 75 grain Amax. Shooting crows out to 850 meters is no problem with Streloc. 28 grains of benchmark in the little br gives me 2850 fps. I'm done with all the other calibers for long range fun but it's brutal to feed. Both my buddies are now building 22brs. Great fun cheap and stupidly accurate..
I don't know I remember way back in manatee shooting range in a good day condition me and my sako trg 22 in 308 at 575 yards in a gong 3 inches diameter 10 shots 9 7 impacts I remember was a federal gold medal match . I was shooting next while the other guy was shooting a 6,5 akly impruve hi got 10 shots 10 impacts fire forming his ammo for f class . So long history short I just got me a tikka 6,5 creedmoor shoots amost one hole at 100 meters I don't really know that you can get better than that with the factory rifle I do think that fantastic
Another fantastic video. My question to you is ... the 6 mm Creedmoor Barrel life compared to the 6.5 mm Creedmoor Barrel ... is it the same or are you going to get more rounds out of the 6.5 then you would the 6 ... I think that needs to be taken into fact or factors when figuring out which round is going to be superior at least that's what I'm thinking ... what are your thoughts on this?🤔
The 6mm is known to eat barrels, especially with hot handloads. 1200 rounds or so. The 6.5 will get you to around 2500 rounds. Definitely something to consider.
I'm getting into PRS next year. Right now i'm finishing up building TWO semi auto rifles. One in 6.5CM and one in 6CM. I have a LOT of experience with 6.5 and none with 6. The rifles will both have JP recoil eliminators and their LMOS BCG. One already has a silent capture spring, while the other one probably will end up with one of those as well. The 6.5 has a JP super match 22" barrel with their longest thermal dissipater. I do wonder if that will negatively affect barrel harmonics. Anyone with a thought on that? Both will have JP RC XL hand guards and arca swiss rails. The 6CM will have a 24" Proof SS barrel. So the builds are pretty similar. For triggers i'm undecided. The 6.5 has the GSSA-E curved for now and the 6 will either have the flat GSSA-E or the Hyperfire Elite which i have now and is a single stage, 1.5lb pull believe it or not. I have a Noveske SPR with the Hyperfire single stage Eclipse which has the adjustable boot and a 2.5lb pull and i really like that. So right now i'm undecided on which trigger will win the day. My other little secret is the Hiper Fire grip. I have that on my Noveske SPR and it's just awesome IMHO. Puts your finger right where it needs to be on the Eclipse trigger. Ultimately, with these two rifles being so similar, i cannot wait to compare them side by side for time and accuracy.
Sounds like you have some awesome builds. JP makes great rifles and are some of my favorites. Would love to hear how they do. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏼
In the beginning - you cant compare the unsurpassed guns. Suppressors make a huge difference with a 6.5CM. I was thinking of upgrading to 6CM from 6.5CM - decided to spend the money on a suppressor since I have a few 6.5CM rifles and a ton of ammo.

i like Rick at 13:44 😂
6 creedmoor with handloads and 115 dtac .620bc at 3000 FPS plus .
Try the nosler 115 rdf. It really puts the 6.5 to shame then.
6.5 up sell for Hornady......243 all day long... cheep ammo and quick.
6mm CM (Laser) is the Bomb...Les recoil translates to quicker recovery time that translates to sharper accuracy and those elements are the Key factors Not energy for this application!
Did you watch the video? It showed minimal effects in recovery time
should throw the 243 win in the mix.
I have the same in both in 6 and 6.5…. It’s a toss up, but I’m keeping both.
I'd think you would have velocities closer if not higher than 3030
24”
What rifle setup are you using that allows you to swap out barrels? Great video btw. I am the odd duck who has the 6mm Creed and the 6.5 PRC. I like the 6.5 Creed, but have not gotten around to grabbing one . . . yet!
Hey Sam. It is the Accuracy International rifle.
I wanted to get a Howa 6mm but keep reading about long throat and a accuracy problems.
Rick nails it. But is it ever a waste of money making investments in firearms?
Not really. I think it’s like money in the bank nowadays
What is the rifle platform? Love the swappable barrel system.
Well, I appreciate the comment but I still have to justify to myself if the hype of 6mm is actually worth the extra effort over 6.5.
Groovy baby!
That explains why 2 off my friend's are using 22BR, NO RECOIL
I shoot a 22-250AI and a 22br both with 75 grain Amax. Shooting crows out to 850 meters is no problem with Streloc. 28 grains of benchmark in the little br gives me 2850 fps. I'm done with all the other calibers for long range fun but it's brutal to feed. Both my buddies are now building 22brs. Great fun cheap and stupidly accurate..
After i run my 308 for few years im thinking about doing 6.5 creed over 6mm just for barrel life
Was a good test untill you put Rick in it. Lol.
I'm freezing my ass here , had snow yesterday and you at 75F. Wtf:)
Didnt seem recoil was the problem ..it seemed the cycling of the bolt was the problem for jumping the scope
So long history short I just got me a tikka 6,5 creedmoor shoots amost one hole at 100 meters I don't really know that you can get better than that with the factory rifle I do think that fantastic
i would like to see the same test but with an AR10
@@XRING No problemo. Love your channel. Please keep it up.
What rifle is shooting the 308
Remington 700
Where can you be contacted to ask about rifles and maybe some shooting classes or courses and wanting to get into long distance precision shooting

Ok. Will do. Thank you
Add weight to the 6.5 rails and it will be even better
My take away from this video is that training and experience matters more than the round. I could be wrong.
"you know he does have a point" !!!!!!!!!!
Lol great video
All BOUT THE weight BABY,,, THAT AI wieght way more than both those other guns...
That’s right John! Makes it easy to shoot but a pain in the butt to carry on a ruck match.
@@XRING THERES THAT :-)
What exactly this test for? Speed long ra g shooting?
That was a great vid !!! Thank you ! Can anyone tell me if you use semi auto in LRP meets?
