This is one of the better long-range videos I've watched. It brings me back to the late '70s-early '80s when my buddy and I shot rock chucks in eastern WA. He used a .243 Win and I used a .223, both in Rem 788s. I distinctly remember my .223 having an advantage as I could see the bullet hit and correct windage and elevation on the second shot to blow those rock chucks to pieces. My buddy had a much harder time seeing bullet hits and relied on my spotting to make corrections. I'm seriously looking at a 6mm ARC in a bolt action to take full advantage of the cartridge. The load data in the AR version does not impress me.

It looked like you had a lot of feeding issues with the 6ARC. Why Hornady would launch a product without a viable mag solution is beyond me. The cartridge may be the best thing since instant grits, but until someone designs a new mag for it that really works, it's a NoGo. I'm not giving up on the cartridge. I truly want to see it succeed. But that's the kind of thing that will cost you a match or even your life depending on how you plan to use it.
I think it was primarily designed for use with the AR-15 platform. Ive seen enough vids on the 6mm ARC out of the AR and feeding isn’t an issue on those. On a bolt action I think you are correct...they need to design a specific magazine for that platform. It’s ballistic capability is fantastic so I’m pretty sure you’ll see plenty of products around this round in the next few years. Not sure if you knew, but I read that the department of defense adopted this caliber about a year prior to being released to the public...most likely in an AR platform by whatever unit had adopted it, because that is what the 6mm ARC is designed for. If the military likes it enough for use in the hands of our servicemen then it’s a good sign for us!
6ARC originally was designed and developed primarily for special military applications. This cartridge in an AR-15 18" would of yield much better thermal ballistics as an SPR than our 5.56. It was designed to be ran in a gas gun, not bolt rifles. Don't understand why would you want to run it in a bolt rifle, there are many standardized cartridges now that are well supported and yield much better results with similar recoil. Also, want better recoil management? Try more aggressive brakes. That's a different can of warms though.

Outstanding video guys I’m a fan of the long range competition but I’ll have to stick with the 6.5 creedmoor for my hunting applications but if I ever got into shooting contest definitely 6 MM or the Arc
Very interesting. Smaller round. Bigger splash. Guessing higher velocity = larger splash 🤔. Well I was going to go 6.5 creed for my new rifle... but now I'm thinking 6mm creed or 6.m ARC.
Tacticam video was excellent here. Looked like 6 ARC was a little more jumpy than 6 CM, but I think a balanced muzzle brake will help it out. Looking forward to more.
Pretty sure it was due to the 6creedmoor being on a tripod vs arc being on a long legged bipod. I've shot both and can say without a doubt 6arc recoil and muzzle jump is significantly less than any creedmoor.
That was a great comparison between two popular and the new kid on the block PRS cartridges. I think I’m going to go with the Hornady 6mm ARC in my next rifle not only because of its mild recoil but for all the other reasons you stated . I want one of those XLR chassis X-ring , what do they cost ?
The most popular cartridges are the 6br cartridge family (6 Dasher, 6BR, 6BRA, 6BRX, 6GT, 6 Comet, and ETC) and 6mm creedmoor. Usually it's newer shooters that run 6.5 creedmoor because of the wide variety of factory chambered rifles. There are very very few people running cartridges like 6mmAR and 6ARC has just been released but I doubt you'll have guys swap from their 6BR cartridges family. I know I won't switch from my 6 Dasher.
AR15. If you're not shooting for competition and you dont want to pay an arm and a leg for the ammo, 6.5 grendel is a better choice for the AR15 platform because it has great ballistic coefficient and performance for the cost.
The military is also testing the 6 arc they wanted a cartridge with the same terminal performance of a 308 but something to use the same m4 lower from my understanding the military contacted hornady just like they contacted blackhills

Great video! Slap a Piercision 5 port muscle brake on that 6.5 creed. I have one on my savage 10T and it really makes it easy to spot my shots out at 1000 with a 24x scope
I don’t know why you guys bother with all these boutique cartridges. I just aim my Mosin Nagant in the general direction of the target and the hand of Stalin guides it home.
If I to choose bet 6.5 creedmoor and 6.5 PRC I’ll pick PRC built to deliver long distance, heavy, high performance bullets. Or 7mm rem mag. Than 6.5 Creedmoor.
I had no trouble following the vapor trail on the video. This means with the bare eye it should be far more clear. Not sure why there is some belief that one was easier to follow. What am I missing?
That was the true reason why the PRC guys had a major problem with the 6mm rounds, on long shots they couldn’t even hear their impact either to know if they hit or not since they didn’t have their own spotters to help them on a lot of the long stages.
Was it just me or did the holds not make sense? Were they dialing after the first miss? It seemed like their hold changed in the wrong direction. Not sure if I’m missing something or if it’s the scope cam.
You mentioned in the last vid you were thinking about knocking the 6arc barrel back a bit. Maybe i missed it but what kind of fps are you getting with that javelin now? What were you thinking of knocking it back to, and what do you plan on losing? Solid test. Good watch.
Xring it'll be an interesting video with hand loads of each one showing ballistic drop and actual windage corrections. As of now the only commercial 6ARC ammo is AR15 pressure safe. Hornady has separate load data for bolt action rifles that goes up to 62,000 psi.
So what I find very confusing is, why wouldn't you just load a lighter round in a 6.5 Creedmoor? I get it if your just trying to use factory ammo, but you guys.....clearly that's not in question.
Great vids, keep them coming. I like the idea of the 6mm ARC in a bolt gun. I may have missed it, what mags are you using? Do you have a BR style mag kit installed?
Hey xRing. I know you done videos on how to set up dope. But like when you were at .22 competition. How to set up scope. 25 35 50 68 100 yards. ? How can I find a way to take a long range CLASS with you. ? Please. Bryan.
Great video, recently found your channel and instantly subscribed. I’m curious what the comparative weights are between the rifles, I see all the externals on the XLR and that has to be a huge addition to spotting misses. I think proper recoil management and practicing spotting misses is key as well. I’m not trying to downplay your video or bust your balls but spotting a miss prone even with a .308 should be common place. Keep up the great work.
Either I'm blind or something but I saw different number of hits vs what they said they impacted especially main guy talking..3rd shooter.. maybe I'm crazy but I saw totally different and nowhere near enough differences in jump to merit a change to the 6 arc.. and I actually came here to want to try and change to a 6 something. But apparently not... I prs but I am more into shooting abitnlonger distance. 1k and 1760 have my primary interests and what I consider throwing money at.. and with the almost no discernable notice in jump between cartridges shot here. I think i will go with the 6 creed or maybe 6 gt if I can save some powder and still be consistent.
Ray: I just read on Sniper's Hide's web forum that 6mm ARC presents a "splash" problem past 800 yards. In other words, the small bullet impact on steel is quite difficult for spotters or the shooter to see. Your thoughts?
Nice video. However, I would like you to elaborate a little bit more about mag feed reliability. Of course, being able to see your POI while your view is unaffected by recoil is king, but mag feed speed and reliability is at least queen. We all know that the small boys (BR, BR Norma Dashers and so on) have this and you have to do some magic on your mags and it's so platform dependent you can't have a rule to fix em all. That's why for instance GT has been designed and built, unfortunately is not CIP approved so is out of the equation for PRS shooters on the east side of the Pond. So, 6 creed it's the only way if you want to rely upon cartridge that can be slowed down a little to shoot good days, and then put to its paces when the wind really blows. i know I could have opened a can of worms here, but you with your BR or Dasher, you know that in tough days you are gonna eat dust...
Nice video and lots off info but! It is the same thing anywhere you go in the world of sports. It has become competition of skills and equipment, equipment being the maine thing.
Ive not been able to buy and get 1 box of 6mm ARC which is just BARELY better than the 6.5 Grendel..It is better but as far as bullet selection and availability the 6mm ARC is still behind the 8 ball right now compared against the 6.5 Grendel . .Id like to have seen the 6.5 Grendel in there against it (6mm ARC) Great Video X-Ring
The 6.5 grendel 100gr and 107 loads are amazing....even the Wolf average 1.5MOA 200yds. With that said the Grendel has been necked down for the last decade...I was unaware my ammo 6mm AR15 was better than most PRS rifles.

I really like it.Ive been shooting a gas gun I built. Its pretty dang accurate and consistent at 1200 yards.
I'm thinking of building a bolt gun. What length barrel & twist do you suggest X-Ring?
I've been shoiting I. The 1mile and 2 mile lately with 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC.
I LIKE THIS LONGER STUFF.
Outstanding video guys I’m a fan of the long range competition but I’ll have to stick with the 6.5 creedmoor for my hunting applications but if I ever got into shooting contest definitely 6 MM or the Arc
So glad I went with 6ARC instead of Creed with my last rifle.
You're free to do life wrong
Dino Nucci meh.......I think I’ll be alright.
New camera? This video is super clear. Great job as usual 👍
Same iPhone, I think it was the lighting
Those are some gorgeous rifles boys.
Thanks green street.
Very interesting. Smaller round. Bigger splash. Guessing higher velocity = larger splash 🤔.
Well I was going to go 6.5 creed for my new rifle... but now I'm thinking 6mm creed or 6.m ARC.
WoW that’s so cool to really know the follow shots for the 6 arc
Great, now I have to look at doing an ARC bolt gun. Great video; thanks!
Snake oil
Why did you wait? 6mm Grendel has been around for over a decade.
Please tell us the specs for each of those rifles, chassis, scopes, rings, etc. great video!
Hey, great video just wondering what grain weight bullet were you guys using on the six Creedmoor?
IMPACT!! -cool video for a relaxing sunday
wow, I think you just sold me on the 6mm arc.. whats the chassis on that 6mm arc?
AR15. If you're not shooting for competition and you dont want to pay an arm and a leg for the ammo, 6.5 grendel is a better choice for the AR15 platform because it has great ballistic coefficient and performance for the cost.
Interesting video. I’ve never seen this before. Thanks
The military is also testing the 6 arc they wanted a cartridge with the same terminal performance of a 308 but something to use the same m4 lower from my understanding the military contacted hornady just like they contacted blackhills
It has the same trajectory as 308 not the same terminal performance it's got waaay less energy
Seems like the first 6.5 shots were into shade. First 6 mm into sunlight. Easier to see the splash. But point taken the 6.5 was jumping a bit.
Thank You Sirs! This was a great comparison! Did I miss the agreed magnification? Never a Boring video here!👍
Awesome video!!!
Good informative on the 6 ARC...
My Primary Go To For Short Medium & Out To 1306 Yards On Full Size Silhouettes & Thats Why I Have 3 Of Them With Different Sweet-Ups & My Freight Train Hitter Is My 2 .300 PRC’s/ 1 In 26 Barrel & 1 In 28 Inch Barrel. Keep The Reality Footage Coming. Fantastic & Correct Material.
My Three Different Set-Ups In 6 mm ARC With 18 Inch Barrels Are 1306 Yard Hitters Especially If Wind Isn’t To Wild. Them Long Of Barrels Would Be Interesting On A Built .300 PRC. Which In Heavier Winds With 26 & 28 Barrels Take Over & Knock Out The Much Longer Distances As They Obviously Have Longer Capabilities. Your Drills For Splash & Adjusting Were The Real Deal. Outstanding Footage.
I'd stick with 6.5x47 lapua myself.
What????? Accuracy over hype, you dog : )
What were the scopes used on each rifle? I can’t help but think the thinner reticle on the 6 mm Creedmoor gave it an edge.
If I to choose bet 6.5 creedmoor and 6.5 PRC I’ll pick PRC built to deliver long distance, heavy, high performance bullets. Or 7mm rem mag. Than 6.5 Creedmoor.
Great video , great shooters !! I have a 6.5 cm but got me thinking I might need the 6 arc 🤔 (want or need whatever)
Just now thinking about 6mm ARC? 6mm Grendel been around for over a decade.
@@killerfungis I haven't been into this sport very long. I didn't even know there was a 6mm grendel.
I had no trouble following the vapor trail on the video. This means with the bare eye it should be far more clear. Not sure why there is some belief that one was easier to follow. What am I missing?
The camera is directly connected to the scope with zero chance of moving. It is different when you are shooting the rifle.
Something could be said for the 6.5 making a bigger splash on the first miss making it easier to spot than the smaller 6mm.
For the first five cycles I thought you were shooting at the white ipsc lol. I couldn't figure out why you were off in space
You mentioned the 3 calibers, but what are the rifles? The ARC action was smooth.
You mentioned in the last vid you were thinking about knocking the 6arc barrel back a bit. Maybe i missed it but what kind of fps are you getting with that javelin now? What were you thinking of knocking it back to, and what do you plan on losing?
Solid test. Good watch.
Great video, the longer the video the we learn
I’m building a 6.5-300 Weatherby mag can’t wait till I get it done
Get a spare barrel at the same time
6 arc... I really like the 6-6.5 creedmoor- arc, amazing cartridge.
Xring it'll be an interesting video with hand loads of each one showing ballistic drop and actual windage corrections.
As of now the only commercial 6ARC ammo is AR15 pressure safe. Hornady has separate load data for bolt action rifles that goes up to 62,000 psi.
How is a 6mm CM more visible on a plate then a 6.5 CM? also what rifle and set up is that ARC set up?
? Please. Bryan.
i had a 6.5 grendel that i set up for lowest possible recoil and you could spot your own bullet trace
6 arc vs 6.5 creed vs the number 6? i feel like both rounds depend on the number 6 existing, so winner, the number 6?
Great video, recently found your channel and instantly subscribed. I’m curious what the comparative weights are between the rifles, I see all the externals on the XLR and that has to be a huge addition to spotting misses. I think proper recoil management and practicing spotting misses is key as well. I’m not trying to downplay your video or bust your balls but spotting a miss prone even with a .308 should be common place. Keep up the great work.
I definitely have no regrets building an Arc
Love me my 6.5 Creedmoor!
That was fun to watch, Did you happen to weigh the rifles?
Since the 6BR has the same bolt as the 6& 6.5CM where does it compare with 6arc?
You answered some questions I had.
Ray: I just read on Sniper's Hide's web forum that 6mm ARC presents a "splash" problem past 800 yards. In other words, the small bullet impact on steel is quite difficult for spotters or the shooter to see. Your thoughts?
Same issue with all the other 6mm shorties. I have been seeing a lot of t1000 target flashers for further targets.
So, 6 creed it's the only way if you want to rely upon cartridge that can be slowed down a little to shoot good days, and then put to its paces when the wind really blows. i know I could have opened a can of worms here, but you with your BR or Dasher, you know that in tough days you are gonna eat dust...
i love my 6 mm arc but here in florida it to hot to shot in summer
How many rounds can you put through the 6mm arc before you wear the barrel out ?
Great info, awesome video guys.
Cool vid!
Nice video and lots off info but! It is the same thing anywhere you go in the world of sports. It has become competition of skills and equipment, equipment being the maine thing.
shooting a 6.5 sounds like a great way to meet women
I don’t see the difference. Spotted the splash on all of them. How is one any better?
How much difference in the cartridge between the 6mm creed and the 6 arc?
I'm loving the 6 creed we own but interested in this 6arc
Very good video brothers thanks for sharing, yah bless
I was wondering why the 6mm CM came into being… the more you know!
@@killerfungis@Hammer Click. I agree with youv100%.: I shoot almost every day. With that said my favorite AR15 round in my 6.5 Grendel.I live a a pretty big ranch and shoot there some.I joined and donate time every Monday at a nice Gun Range about 3 miles from my house.Ive built about every caliber AR15 there is.I absolutely love my 6 5 Grebdel and the Wolf 100 gr ammo I buy shoit just about as good as the Hornady Black.. Match and Custom. And it's a whole lot cheaper to shoot steel and paper.
i would specifically like to see the 107gr 6.5 Grendel VS the 6ARC and then the 6mm Grendel vs 6ARC then 6Turbo/AI vs 6ARC, then 224 Grendel VS 224ARC, then 30Grendel vs 30ARC
@@TexasTrained Well whats sad, is the Dod may have ignored the Grendel case (typical of US ammo selection politics) and the citizens of this country have rifles more capable than the Dod. Over 10 years the Dod could of had 6mm Grendel, its a shame.
@@killerfungis I agree. When they were opting for 6.8 and not 6.5 grendel It was easy to see someone was getting paid under table
Just normal politics like you said
