11:41 that happened in every Shelia level for me! I don’t know if that was just the emulator I was playing on but every time I’d get hit, at some point the audio would glitch. Now when I replay I just skip all the Shelia and frankly Agent 9 levels because I just like playing as Spyro. Good to see those were optional. A bit like Spyro 1, you don’t need to do all the levels to go to the next world.
@@Torran2Glitchy Ikr? It looks like a pretty good game!😃 Also, Sly Cooper 1 just turned 21 as well!! Ratchet & Clank is also turning 21 in November. Time sure passes by so fast!!😢😭
I couldn’t get past Mermaid Coast the first time I played Season of Ice. And it could be because I’m not much for a challenge but I like that Season of Flame is easier. And it feels like Spyro! Very impressed that they got the vibe right.
Great review and retrospective Torran! I didn't know there were so many isometric Spyro games. Lol that acronym. It's nice that the developers learned from the previous game's mistakes, and for the sequel tried new gameplay mechanics. It's really good they put in a map, it reminds me of Mega Man Battle Network's levels where you can get lost because the 2D backgrounds look similar or are recycled.
Cheers mate, thanks for watching! I wasn’t expecting the devs to fix their previous mistakes, but to my surprise they did, and I was very happy with what they came out with in the end. Also, I’m glad you liked the acronym
You needed to collect all 99 fairies in Spyro Season Of Ice in order to get to the final Grendor boss fight so you can save the 100th fairy which is Zoe of course but for Spyro 2 Season Of Flame you don’t need to collect every firefly that’s available you only need 75 fireflies to finish that game
Controls are the same between Season of Ice and Season of Flame, but the physics and responsiveness are more robust in Season of Flame, Spyro doesn't slide backwards as much when it takes a hit. Turning around, especially while gliding, is faster and tighter. Spyro feels overall less heavy and less sloppy in this game, which is cool ! And these changes were kept in Attack of the Rhynocs too.
@@DoofenSpyroDragon16 By controls I mean the buttons does the same things in both games. But I definitely agree, Season of Ice is far less responsive and feels worse to control
Great review! This game was my first Spyro game and it's what got me into the Spyro series. Sadly I didn't have a PS1 back in the 90's because I was raised on the Nintendo 64 playing games like Mario 64, Mario Kart, and Didy Kong Racing to name a few. My parents were poor back then so we couldn't afford to upgrade to the GameCube and PS2 so I ended up with a GameBoy Advance. I did get my PS2 in 2004 and caught up with Crash and Spyro's original PS1 trilogy. I played the hell outta Mario 64 as a kid, and I was bummed out that I couldn't play Mario Sunshine. So me getting Spyro 2 Season of Flame makes up for it because it felt like a bird's eye view Mario 64. -Power Stars = Fire Flies -Collecting 100 coins = Getting all the gems in a level -Cap power ups = Power up gates -Main floor, basement, and 2nd floor = Sunny, Celestial, and Starry Plains -All 3 Bowser fights = Crush, Gulp, and Ripto fights
There is ONE thing I liked better in Season of Ice: the main collectible. Fireflies are fine, but I like fairies. They are a staple of the Spyro franchise, they fit the series, they have nicer designs... And you don't have to chase them because they don't move, you just release them like the dragons in Spyro 1.
I had both of these games on my gameboy sp and remember the second game being more fun. One thing about both games, I had a hard time 100% them because I would have everything and be miss like 5 random gems on all levels forcing me to play the whole level over to get th he gem at end corners tucked away 😢
At least with Reignited and OG 2 and 3 you have the gem finder. That saves me constantly. Also helps I have the 3 console games pretty much memorized. 😆
It's definitely easier and I'd say a bit more fun to get all the gems in the console games 😊 Overall I did actually enjoy the gameboy editions it was just a learning curve with the camera angle!

Happy 21st Anniversary to Spyro 2: Season of Flame!!!🥳🎉🎊
It’s not bad for a 21 year old GBA game!

This is certianly one of the intros to a video reviews I've seen.
Thanks! I try very hard to make them as intro as I possibly can

I thought season of ice’s controls kinda sucked. It was a bit tricky to control for me. Definitely improved in Season of Flame.

how many times did you say repetitive
quite a few
One of my fav GBA games, love it!

Fairies are definitely better than fireflies, but fireflies are way better than dragonflies. EtD’s bubble breath is absolutely appalling
@@Torran2Glitchy Oh sure, even though dragonflies fit the series better, anything from Spyro Enter the Dragonfly was poorly executed

That’s classic Spyro for you. You always end up missing something!

I wish I could enjoy it but the isometric view is such a headache :(
It's too Zoomed in!
that can be a pain sometimes, you’re right
Okay this is amazing😂😂
Dang i really like this game as a kid and i actually just ordered it
Arter a new Spyro game
They should remaster some other of the games like season of ice and flame for Nintendo switch or whatever council is next
U said "repetitive" so many times
