I’m natural and have massive delt genes. It’s like I have to focus so much on incline movements to make my chest look decent. But barely do anything for my delta to make them look massive.
@@aytuzfor open bodybuilding, delts are far more important. They appear in almost all the mandatories and are vital for a good v-taper. While chest is important, it is not as important as it was in the golden era.
He's the only Mr. Olympia (to my knowledge) to ever lose the title and then reclaim it the following year. After that the only sensible path to take is living a good healthy lifestyle out of the spotlight.

I find that 1 of the best exercises for upper chest development is decline push-ups with rings. Just grab a bench or chair and put your feet on them while doing ring push-ups. You'll get a really good pump

Great to hear Jay mention push-ups, if you can yet do 30-50 reps for multiple sets heavily invest your time into improving them, I could do 2 plates for reps on bench and still had basically no chest and pushups gave me significant pec gains without having to keep grinding my shoulders into dust adding kilos to my free weight movements
Dumbbells are better for building size. The way I see it is for building strength use the barbell, for building muscle use the the dumbbells. The barbell is better for strength obviously because you can put more weight on it but the dumbbells are much better for building muscle because its more challenging and it has much much deeper ROM and it really stimulates your stabiliser muscles.

Couldn’t agree more. I find I’m getting a way better pump and mind muscle connection doing iso lateral movements. It really helps with muscle imbalances. There’s no help from the dominant side.

I like hearing this. The chest starting at the bottom and ending halfway up describes how mine was perfectly. I do only incline movements now. I also have very wide shoulders. Did not know there was a connection.
Different variations of push-ups I've been doing prison-style workout and military style push ups and burpees last 60 days high interval training no weights just body weights , Just added Weighted Vest 40 pound , I lost a lot of muscle because of my diabetes since April, my recovery is insane I changed my diet to High protein diet and carnivore diet and keto diet, less sweet's, hard things cutting out Mountain Dew and Cherry Pepsi I lost 70 pounds dew to using insulin, I still take my protein powder and supplements, reenergize myself my fitness journey 4 days every week being consistent is key I will come back here in one year come back you read my comment again .
My shoulders are probably my most developed muscles on my upper body as well… but my chest is underdeveloped especially my upper chest… just as you said I’m struggling with my shoulders not dominating the workouts. I’m a complete beginner to lifting though… I just moved and there is a private gym right next door so no more excuses.
@@fishfan2 I started doing dumbells over regular flat bench and it progressed my bodybuilding folds over barebell. But I do hit incline and focus on contraction like Jay said and it’s made a huge difference in my upper pecs! Dips developed my lower pec and cable flys really just having good form and make the reps count!
Drop the weight a bit and do the movements in low light or with your eyes close and focus on feeling the mind muscle connection and your chest contracting, it makes every rep count and makes every rep more effective

Actually feels like he's giving the tip directly to me because all my muscles grow alot quicker then my chest... Especially my legs they are the easiest in my opinion..
My chest is also my stubborn muscle. And my shoulders do most of the work doing chest day. If i dont concentrate on activating my pecs, its 90% shoulders

I agree. my pecs looked fuller doing alternating DB incline presses than the standard. The key is to keep constant tension and "punch" the weight

💯 - have the same "problem" as Jay had, took me a while to realise how to fix my issue. What really helped me was flys for the upper chest
