For a couple of million people surely knew that Gary Moore is somebody to Appreciate. He really was a star in the 80's already, greatest guitar brands made him signature instruments, maybe you're just too young to remember. Just an interesting fact Kirk Hammett bought one of his Gibson Les Paul for 2m usd. Sounds like an accolade, huh?
Tone on that axe is just epic! Every time I listen to G M it just reminds me he was without a doubt the greatest act to ever strap on a guitar!!! A true guitar God ...
It takes someone very special to cover Wishing Well so triumphantly and bring something new to it. Gary does that all here. A magnificent rendition from Gary, so great as if he wrote it himself. What a great rock artist Gary Moore was. I miss him just as much as any other guitar icon in history.
MY GUITAR MAN JUST WOW GARY MOORE AND THIN LIZZY IM IN HEAVEN EVERY NIGHT THESE GUY,S WERE JUST PURE MUSIC 🎶 R I P BUT THE MORE I PLAY THEY ARE STILL KICKING 🙏 💔 ❤️ 😔 😢 ♥️ 🙏 😊
This man pours every emotion into every note and every word in all his songs RIP✌️ a great guitarist and very underrated in the United States never missed one of his shows when he came here!!!
Now thats what i call making a guitar purely roar like a lion. The sound Gary gets from that white Explorer goes right into my bones. What a set he played that night, what a maestro and superb rock performer. I miss you Gary, you were a King among guitarists.
It's rare that an iconic song can be improved to this degree. There is very little guitar in the original by Free but Moore turned in into a great guitar piece.
With the voice of Paul Rodgers, that version would have knocked me out of my shoes. Anyway, the guitar alone is amazing. I will never forget you, Gary.
To those that say horrible singing....go explore his solo blues albums (especially Bad for you Baby)...he did have a very good voice. His vocals matured over the years. I saw him play live many times....never played a bum note on the guitar. RIP Gary!
No doubt about his guitar skills but I'm not sure about his vocals on this. In the middle section then his more bluesy voice is prefect and may possibly be better than Paul Rogers for that part. It may be down to being live plus playing guitar as well which is a lot to do. I don't think I ever saw Thin Lizzy or Garry solo but I did see Skid Row supporting someone. That would probably have been 71 or 72 I think so I assume I would have seen him then.
Studio albums are way different than any live performance and any artist not delusional about themselves are well aware they don't sound as good as under controlled recording conditions.
oh thank you for share this great Song😎🤗😇🎶🎸🙏❤..I listened this over 6 years or more years not more🙂..so nice to can enjoy this masterpiece from our guitar and voice hero of this earth🤗🥰🎸🎶😇🙏😎🍀❤..Thank you dear Gary for your music since my youth ..you will never be forgotten ..Rest in Peace until next 🎸🎶🥰🙏🙏❤-incarnation ..we will know you 🤗😇🥰😎🎶🎸🙏❤
I never got to see any off his stuff live, because i wasn't old enough back then, and now i can't because he's gone. i play guitar because of him, i love blues a lot, and he's my nummber one. but i also enjoy other blue's stuff and all type's of music. so i doubt you love them any more then i do.
Love this thAnKs. Interesting how ' The Bucket Head Rrift' mindset how he approaches pretty much its entire guitar solo very cool insight He's always looking to set that up.
Don’t want to criticize Gary’s performance, but if you like this RUN DON’T WALK to listen to the solo on the studio version. Raw aggression at the absolute pinnacle of lead guitar
I'm not sure I agree with the last 2 comments on this page. As great as I thought Gary Moore was, I'm not sure he was greatest electric blues guitarist of all time. Especially since he had so many more strings to his bow as a musician. He was amazing and could play any form of music, and that was proven by him on more than one occasion, and he sure as hell wasn't underrated. Everyone who listened to the man, knew his abilities with the instrument was off the charts. Also, he was influenced by some of the greatest guitarists of all time, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan and Albert King. I've been playing guitar for almost 54 years, and everyone of the people I mentioned, I thought was outstanding, and yes, that includes Gary Moore, he's definitely placed in that category.
Memories of singing this in 1983 in my first band. It was summer and the heat in our rehearsal room was stifling. On one occasion someone across the road complained they couldn't hear their TV as we were so loud, and a police officer stuck his head through the door to tell us to cool it, just as the lead guitarist was smoking a joint. He went white. I don't know if the cop didn't recognise the smell or whether he decided to let it go, but all the same it was fucking funny.
Ok gary didnt use a personal trainer to get him out of bed an exercising in the morning thats evident, an he never had a voice for singing with much either but BY FUCK HE KNEW HOW TO PLAY GUITAR!! Just listen to this good shit. R.I.P Gary Moore. God Bless You my main man.
Bill Bradshaw commented on Free - nothing without Koss, I agree, but, what does one do when people have died???? I lament the loss of Gary and Phill.... MY Heroes!!! of rock and the brothers from Mama's Boys who were lost TOO soon, again, what can one do???
hi respect man, main thing is you love good music and the blues, bonamassa, kenny wayne, etc etc,i to play so we have mor ein common ,good luck with the blues my friend
Gary was no Paul Rogers , but the guitar is great . There are a couple of ironies here . Gary's Les Paul sound is similar to Paul Kossoff's Les Paul sound , but Paul Kossoff did not play on the original Free track , I am pretty sure that Paul Rogers played the guitar on the Free recording using a Leslie speaker to distort the sound . Now on this Gary Moore version , he is using an Explorer which sounds nothing like his or Kossoff's Les Pauls .Still a great song .
There is a difference between the album version and the DVD. The palm slide harmonics in this video (0:30 mark) are not found on the album version but moved (cut and paste) just before the solo. See the CD version and compare: ruclips.net/video/qs7i1_7Rsm4/видео.html
Love Gary Moore, love Free...so what's not to like? Gary is not in Ridger's Street as a singer but he's okay here...as for the guitar, he's an artist. Love his Hendrix "Red House" tribute but he can't match Kossoff, for me. To those who posted that Koss did not play on Wishing Well, you're wring...I have that from drummer Simon Kirke himself. He (Koss) cut the track on the single and album. However the USA version of Wishing Well featured a cut that did NOT have Koss on lead...the British/Euro original is the best one to listen to. But...Nice work from Gary here!
I thought I had the original LP from FREE, but of course I don't it's the gatefold free Story, I'm a HUGE Moore fan tooooooooooo, prob the wrong site, but when did FREE become essentially the Paul Rodgers band? It's the Gate fold OC 407 Free Story, Blue label on the vinyl, tho I def do have a bonifide Dire Straits Brothers in arms (Bought it myself, one of the few RECORDS, yes records, not vinyl, that's what the KIDS call records, that I ever bought - record collection is about 32)rarely played and in a plastic sleeve to protect it, but my fay is PickWick - (prob predates K-Tel) Top of the pops, SHM820 HALLMARK STEREO, NO DATE ON IT BUT THE REVERSE SAYS COMING UP TO OUR 5TH ANNIVERSEY, circa Cum on feel the noise and power to all our friends, both released in 1973, so this is prob 1974, oops, caps off now, I've taken a pic, if any one wants to see it, but I'd never sell it, irreplaceble!!!!! Off to watch Blackfoot's version of Wishing Well circa 1982, nighty, night, I'll check on Wednesday if anyone wants the pic...
Free NEVER became Paul Rodgers' band...that's maybe why they split...Andy Fraser and Rodgers clashed and Paul Kossoff was on a downwards drugs spiral. Bad Co has become Paul's backing band. And in the UK in recent years Rodgers has toured as "Free spirit" performing Free's best stuff...yet it's not Free. He couldn't even extend an invitation to drummer Simon Kirke - a fellow Free founder member - to join the "Free Spirit" band. Scandalous, really. Sadly, the real Free died with Kossoff back in 1976...there was never a chance of the band coming together again without Koss.
no matter if he plays with full orchestra or just 3 man band..he is always the best...Miss you Gary..
Absolutely 👍
Gary, one of the best live performers ever
I love this cover of Free’s Wishing Well. It’s so heavy/gritty and Gary’s guitar here is sooo creative.
Well said. I agree.
Gary been the lastes Mohican R.I.P
Not in the league of free thou
Blackfoot does a great job on it too
A once in a generation phenomenon. Never know what you've got till it's gone.

Gary Moore, that'd why I play the blues!! Decent voice!! Top 5 if not top 2 greatest guitarist all time
Rest in peace Gary..guitar MONSTER

Beautiful cover Free, Gary is always BIG!!!! He now play from stars ✨
My favourite guitar player.
It's rare that an iconic song can be improved to this degree. There is very little guitar in the original by Free but Moore turned in into a great guitar piece.
Saw Gary doing this at the SECC in Glasgow in 2003, and Paul Rodgers doing it at the Glasgow Barrowlands in 97, both were brilliant versions
We miss you Gary 2019😞
For me, Gary Moore was the Man. He gave his everything.
I highly recommend this official DVD and CD.
One of the most underrated guitarist ever.
and one of the ugliest too!
He's not under rated
Chuck H Twinkie?
@@LUckybones25 No need to be a prick
Under rated by who? He’s a legend
It never going to come someone like him again, it seams like most people dont understand how good he vas playing and at same time singing
Every note I play I feel your presence
Gary Moore was the greatest! A monolithic icon for the progression of ROCK!
Wishing well!! The man was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic version of Wishing Well, When my band played this song in the pubs around Essex we always used Gary Moore's version of the song
Class Version
Moore guitar on his version lol
With the voice of Paul Rodgers, that version would have knocked me out of my shoes. Anyway, the guitar alone is amazing. I will never forget you, Gary.
Brilliant rock on for ever gary

As a teenager in the early 80ies, I explore Gary for his singing. In a special range, he has such a soulful color, which I like very much.
What the hell? His voice is iconic and unique!!!
@@mrshado1193 What a strange answer. Are you shure, that you understand english. There is no bad word about his singing.

amazing ❤️👍
kossoff took gary through the gates and said welcome, but before you play with us angels.....
Unlikely considering Koss could barely play at the point Wishing Well was recorded. Gary brought the song to life.
The Greatest Ever ! Miss you so much Gary
I saw this show at Bournemouth Gary was as great as ever a legend in music history
I love Free, Blackfoot's versions but this may take the gold!

That's Cass Lewis (Skunk Anansie). No disrespect to Tony, but he hasn't really been up to snuff for a long time now.
isn't bad so slow...Gary was a super musician. For an another "wishin' well" great cover, search Jon Lord (with his blues project)
