I have a 78/75 gen 1 on my ls1 t56 tonner build here in Australia and it works well but I’ll be getting a gen 2 for comparison now too it looks the goods that’s for sure
That’s what’s great about your channel... besides the fact that there’s no bullshit... You always do the testing !!! Apples to apples comparisons Thanks Matt!!!
Fabio i want the quick spool of the gen 2 78/75 but I need a 3” outlet. I don’t think I can fit a 4” down between the frame and manifold. And I for dang sure ain’t cutting a hole in the fender lol!
@@cdnbroncolife1889 I wound up going with the Borg Warner S475 and reduced the 4” down pipe to 3” and it worked out good, made it work with my MMI hot parts kit. And I tied it into my exhaust. The whistle turns heads, couldn’t be more happy, best Christmas ever!!

When viren posted about the gen2 he said the turbine wheel is pretty much the same as the gen1 just a larger housing.. but the housing is now divided.. so I don't think you will see any thing change with spool time just gonna breath up top.. I know the Temps are hotter outside matt.. but would be nice if you could do the test in almost the same weather, I bet the IAT will be cooler at the same boost vs. The gen1
Do they not have vs racing cast into the housings anymore? I just got my new 7875 billet T51R and it's a good looking turbo but looks identical to my old ebay turbo
Good morning Sloppy Mechanics! I was looking on VS racing site and this product comes with 3 different options, T4 undivided is one. Which one would you recommend?? New to this and want a good turbo that will work on my 5.3's or 6.0 down the road. Thank you very much, I appreciate being to watch someone who knows how to do this stuff. I need all the help I can get! Bradley
I just picked up one of these with the .96ar to go on my 5.7 in 99 Camaro. Is there any reason to tap the compressor housing, or run any bigger exhaust than the 3" back side?
Do you have any comparison numbers on this versus the older version? I’m at a crossroads with a 370 LS swapped Toyota pickup build I’ve got going. If you were to choose between these two 7875 VS racing Billet turbos(old version and Gen 2)and you had the option to use 243 cathedral heads w/ Ls6 manifold or 823 L92 Heads w/ Ls3 manifold, which setup would you go with? The pickup will be a 95% street machine with a t56 magnum behind it. I care more about drivability and power throughout the range than peak dyno numbers. I also plan to match the cam to whatever combo I go with(Gen 3 h&int or Gen 4 h&int). I figure that you tried and tested these turbos on just about as many different setups as anybody. So Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Btw, Love seeing how far your channel has grown. Keep up the good work!
@sloppymechanics what can I expect on a sbe 6.0? Still too small? Is there a better turbo u recommend ? Thx , can’t wait for the results on the Colorado test
Viren said before that it should work better than the original version, but depending on your goal you may want to step it up to the 80mm unit. This one should support 100 hp more than the original (750 whp) so it should support 850 whp.
I've literally been looking at the 7875 billet turbo from vs racing, would you recommend the .96 ar or the new 1.25 for a street driven 5.3, btr stage 1 turbo cam and bored .020 over
that's easy... .96 all day long for street driven. Of course other factors like your downpipe size and cross over diameter play a big role in your overall COMBINATION. And Yes, i capitalized that on purpose.
Matt, the website shows this one as having a 3" compressor outlet, and a 4" V-band turbine outlet... Should be super cool, but not a direct bolt-in replacement unfortunately. turbo4less.com/product/vsr-next-gen-7875-billet-t4-1-10ar-divided/
