    Thank you for posting this! We have this exact fridge and problem. Iv’e spent the entire afternoon trying to figure out an adjustment I could make to stop the door from swinging open too fast. I thought I was nuts and my husband (not handy in any way) agreed with me on that! So happy to know , at the very least, that I’m not alone in this frustration with this refrigerator! Thank you!

    Same issue with the same fridge. It's insane that they let these out of the factory in this condition. The door has actually damaged my drywall and paint because they swing open so wide

      Some of these refrigerators are made so poorly with the door swinging violently when you open it. I called up the manufacturer, and they told me to adjust the doors or adjust the wheels, which I had already done. They didn't have a good remedy to the issue. So, I thought that I would come up with something to help people overcome this crazy issue. I mean, brand new refrigerators should not have a swinging door issue, especially when you're paying a few thousand dollars for the fridge. That's just a poor design. The bungee cord and the little metal magnets will come off after you put them on if your mom doesn't like it. And you really can't even see the bungee cord if you put it on an inconspicuous area on the bottom of the door. Let me know how you make out.

    I have same exact problem, the stupid hinge design is to blame, if you look at it from the bottom you will see the door goes down and that momentum is what swings it.
    Whirpool cant figure out how to make a simple door hinge, never buying whirpool again!

      You would think after you buy a nice refrigerator that you wouldn't have any issues, especially a swinging door issue. It just amazes me how some companies just don't care about the product they put out. The kicker is that this problem has been happening for many years. You would have thought that with all the years of complaining about the swinging door problem , they would have fixed the issue. That proves they don't care.
      Happy Holiday

    Its ridiculous these new refrigerators do not have adjustable door swing stops. At least mine doesn’t. We already have a small dent. My husband is not the gentle type and the door flew right into the shelf. I ended up adding a shim. But I would actually like it to stop at 90. Jeesh

      It is a real shame these expensive refrigerators dont have some sort of door stoppers like you said. The really expensive refrigerators do have a mechanism to slow the door speed, but not the less expensive refrigerators. I guess you get what you pay for, even though the refrigerators that don't have a door stopper are around $2000+, not a cheap appliance in my eyes. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day

      It's unfortunate that a fridge over $1500 would have doors that swing open uncontrollable, even after adjusting the doors and wheels. The bungee setup is one of the only ways that helps the door swinging open. It may be a little unconventional way, but it's very affective. I would hope many of these manufacturers start doing the right thing and make the doors open and close much easier, even the less expensive fridges.

    • @HM_RELOADED
      @HM_RELOADED  2 года назад +5

      I bought them on Amazon. Do a search for Bavite Carabiner Magnetic Hooks (heavy duty up to 100lbs). If you have a normal side by side fridge you would need a 4-6 inch bungee cord, depending how far you want your fridge door to open. Hope this helps...good luck

      Let me ask you a question, if your brand new refrigerator has doors that open really fast and hits the wall behind, even after you adjust the door height, weight, wheels, and nothing fixes it...what would you do?
      After I called the manufacturer to tell them about the doors, they told me that unfortunately some models have this issue and there's really nothing you could do about it, except adjust the doors and wheels (which I already did). And unfortunately, this kind of issue doesn't fall into the category of defective, so it would be odd returning a new refrigerator because the doors swing open too fast.
      So, after your rude comment, what would you do in this situation, I truly would like to know. It's amazing that out of a few thousand views and quite a few comments, you are the Only person that made a negative comment about my audience and I being Dumb. Please refrain from ignorant comments, there is no need for negative comments on RUclips, or anywhere else. My Brand New GE Side By Side Fridge Door swings wide open banging into new cabinets every time

    • @HM_RELOADED
      @HM_RELOADED  Год назад +3

      I had that same issue until I made that little gizmo. And the good thing is that you really can't see the bungee cord if placed in the right spot. It's a shame that after you spend a few thousand dollars, your fridge door bangs into the wall. You would think it should be standard for all fridge doors to open slowly and easily, instead of opening very fast and banging your wall every time it opens.

      Update: I used super glue gel to glue little plastic flat hooks from Dollar Tree an ran 6 inch wire in clear insulation attaching it to each white plastic clip, waited 24 hours for the crazy glue gel to set under cold conditions. Problem solved.
