  • We packed up the van with our climbing and fishing gear, then drove south to hop on a classic trad route that ascends a granite spire deep in the wilderness. After a couple days of climbing hard, we broke out the rods and fished a nearby creek for wild trout.

Daaaang didn’t realize there was off width climbs up there. Also that first route seemed like a spiiiicey 5.8 lol. Especially that exposed ridge traverse to the bolts. Obviously Bridger was casual about it but I’m with you. Looked windyyyy.

It's really high quality rock for MT. Definitely an Old Skool 5.8 rating, easy climbing but super runout. If it weren't scary it wouldn't be as fun though haha, Bridger has no fear

Mr Phelps you are one hell of an adventurer. My palms were so sweaty during that 1 climb. I felt like I was along, hats off to the both of you. Another great story told.

My hands are dripping with sweat just watching this. So rad. I was simply not made to be a climber, haha.

Dude you’re epic! Haven’t even watched the video yet I just started but I heard you say you were climbing a multi pitch on the wild fly podcast and got so psyched. I’m an avid fly fisherman and rock climber in Chattanooga.

Let’s go!! I plan on going bikerafting next year through out multiple states and target trout. You really motivated my to try something new instead of the usual wading and float trips. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

I’m so stoked to hear that! There’s no better vessel for great adventures than fly fishing. It always goes beyond just the fishing and catching part

How long have you been climbing man? Its dope to see that you also climb. Balancing fishing and climbing is so difficult for me, haha

Been climbing for a good portion of my life, but fairly seriously for 12 or so years. It’s definitely a tough balance since both activities demand time and require dedication to perform at a high level. I feel your pain haha
