I appreciate what this guy is saying about gyms lacking camaraderie but he needs to appreciate that not everybody has access to a hardcore gym. I go to a commercial gym because it is a 5 minute walk from my house. All the regulars know me but I would not train with any of them. Some of these guys will talk for 10-15 minutes inbetween sets. They don't take this seriously, which is fine but not what I need. I shit you not, a guy spent over an hour today doing calf raises on a smith machine. On top of that, I am not 16 anymore. I don't have time to spend 2 hours in the gym. Every minute in there needs to be productive or I eat into my sleep. That means that the headphones go on and I do what I need to do.
I get what you mean. I do happen to go to a pretty good gym, place looks like a dungeon but it's massive, lot of strong guys there. But it's the same situation he describes, everyone has headphones and it just has a weird atmosphere to it. Even just asking someone for a spot feels like an event because you have to get their attention and all that lmao
agree man. All these guys on gear, giving an image that is unobtainable without breaking the law. It's bullshit. I would be much happier if the gear was just legalized!
Love it, been going to the gym for the first time in my adult life. I'm scrawny and basically starting from scratch. Anyways, I only have about an hour max to be there. All the big guys at the gym are there everytime I go, and often regardless off what time. I admire their dedication but I don't have 4 hours a day to spend at the gym. So I go in and work on whatever I need to that day and get out. I'll watch these big guys do one exercise the entire time I'm there and resting for ten fifteen minutes between sets staring off into space. I just don't have that kind of time with 4 kids, wife, job, and the other things I need to do.
This is what makes your channel different and better than all the others. You bring together so many different experts from the fitness community and give them an opportunity to tell their stories to the rest of us. The content it provides is vastly more intellectual because of this.
Great interview. Mike should be on the powercast. One of the original fitness models (muscle media 2000) and a Golds Gym OG. There has to be a ton a crazy stories that this guy has to tell.
it was during a podcast with mark bell and silent mike but they might've cut it out cause i cant find it anymore, but he was pretty straight forward about it and not sarcastic or nothing..
Whether you think he's a privileged asshole or whatever criticisms you have of him as a person, he still brought out good points: 1. Bring value to people, not just looks. 2. Build more community in the fitness industry.
well for people who have to train in a commercial gym with ketty perry in the background I don't see why you wouldn't use earbuds to focus on your training. If you're training in a private gym or more like a powerlifting gym with your buddies that's a different story
Dude is true about so called social media influencers. Only people they influence or have positive influence on are themselves. Its all self serving and selfish.
Take a look at some of the ridiculous "celebrity trainers" (like Tom Brady's) who themselves look like shit yet somehow get hired for megabucks to get action hero actors in shape. Ryan on the other hand is legit not only as an impressive role model but also as someone who walks the walk.
He broke the first rule of fight club.
And the second.
@Alain Smith does it matter?
Actually he fulfilled the purpose of the first 2 rules. Think about it, if no one broke the rule how did fight club expand? 🤯

Damn looking at this dude I realize I need to train my neck
Leng Thao try to get to his arm size as well :))
Leng Thao big necks are from steroid use
Clorox Bleach no. that's wrong. if you train for strength, your neck gets bigger
if you just do neck exercises you will get a big neck in 3-4 months it works really well if you're too scared to them at the gym just to them at home.
Leng Thao Друзья оцените видео,где я бросил вызов каналу - "идём к цели" и пожал сотку на 30 раз в 19 лет !!Всем мир!
