COLOMBIAN Street Food Tour 🇨🇴 in Santa Marta

- Colombians love Santa Marta but most gringos skip it and that's a mistake. It's a beautiful city in Colombia with so much fantastic food.
Today I walked around Santa Marta, along the malecon to try fruit juice, then down to the marina to eat the best ceviche and my favourite new Colombian food discovery - Suero. Then I walked around to find cayeye, the most popular Colombian breakfast on the coast. I popped into Plaza San Francisco to try cazuela de mariscos and ended the day with my favourite spot. Arepas de Yiya are famous with locals, so many cars come by picking up take out as soon as it opens at 4pm. I stopped in for the cheesiest arepas and a glass of corn water - I promise it is delicious

You go to the coolest countries. Really great tip on the hat seller (what a savings)! Your audio is always amazing too.
Thank you so much! I switched to the RODE Wireless Go and I'm so happy with it.
What a stunning place in Colombia - immediately entered my wish-list - and the food - mum's 😋 😊
Thanks mills for sharing 💕💓💕
A couple more stunners coming over the next few weeks
Wow! Santa Marta would never have even been on my radar. Thank you for covering this lovely city!
Glad you enjoyed it! Next few videos are day trips from Santa Marta and the spots are spectacular.
you should go there, santa marta is my favorite colombian city for long
amazing you are the first gringa that actually try real colombian food!
Jjj definitely not the first but I do love Colombian good
FYI. Suero is made with nothing other than Milk and Salt.
That mixture is placed in a bottle and left at room temperature. Each day the water that separated, is discarded. This is done for 4-5 days.
Normally it is eaten with plantain chips!
Ok so that makes sense why it has that funky fermented flavour. I tried store bought and it's just not the same. I may try to make this at home now because I love it.
@@ayngelina it kinda needs a warm or not too cold climate. A friend made some for me, close to the Andes and it took four days for a Litre and rendered about 250 ML.
I think suero is more like whey protein but in a creamy presentation instead of a whey protein shake.
Thank you so much for this video! My husband and I are planning a South American tour and this just made us even more excited for Santa Marta ❤😊🎉
I also have a website called Bacon is Magic which is 14 years old and my actually job ( RUclips is an expensive hobby) and it has lots of Colombia info from several trips there
Wow every shot and angle and the editing of your videos is super high quality, i love it ❤️😍
Thanks so much for the kind words
i love to visit there such a beautiful lugar of Colombia Sant marta and nice Vlog Ayngelina..Lots of love from North of Pakistan
Thank you so much. Pakistan is on my list! I just need to plan the trip.
OMG, that arepa looked so delicious. I've been having enjoying Venezuelan empanadas in Ecuador, loving the corn meal they use.
Hands down the best arepas. Where are you getting the Venezuelan empanadas?
@@ayngelina We went to Sabor Venezolano restaurant in Manta. You'll have to try there, if you make your way back to Manta.
Oh I will definitely return to Manta.
I have to try that Agua de Maiz next time looks very interesting. Thanks for the video Ayngelina content like yours motivates me to keep on filming my trips🙏
Looking forward to what you get up to
I love you videos. I don’t know why it took me so long to subscribe. I’m going to be in Santa Marta next week and this video will guide me. Thank you.😊
Well I'm thrilled you're here, fingers crossed I get back to South America this year. And be sure to watch the safety video as I shot that in Santa Marta.
Everything looks good!
Well you're not wrong there 🤣
@@ayngelina hahaha ;)

Happy New Year Ayngelina . Nice videos 👍
Happy new year! I hope you enjoy the Colombia series 😊
Beautiful city. You look great, Ayngelina. Your video productions are superb. I hope you will get more subs. Excellent content!
Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot that you continue to watch outside of my Ecuador content.
Muy hermosa ciudad y todo se veía super ricoooo!!
Creo que es la ciudad más infravalorada de la costa.
@@ayngelina no creo, santa marta si la he escuchado mucho, muy turística o bueno afuera de Colombia lo es
Great video
Thank you so much Henry!
@@ayngelina always
Muy bien 😊
Gracias Murat
Pretty city, your making me hungry, as I sit here with my air sandwich.
Oh no! Are there any Colombian restaurants where you are?
Colombia hermosa
Me encantalo!
Ayngelina, another great video. You’ve just given me a few more reasons to visit Sta. Marta.
Also, don’t classify yourself as a Gringa. Los “Gringos” son el gente desde los EEUU.
Eres Canadiense! 🇨🇦
In Latin America people tend also to classify others in general terms. You will more often hear all Asians classified as Chinos and not Asiáticos.
If someone calls you a Gringa. Dile,
“Guerra si, Gringa no. Soy de Canadá”
You’ll get a lot more respect! No dar papaya 👍
White girl yes, Gringa no.
Haha to be honest, most people in Colombia actually thought I was Colombian. It didn't make it to the video but when I was getting juice I started talking to one of the men who buys the fish and sells it on the street. At one point he looked at me really confused and said "eres gringa???" and I burst out laughing and said yes.
A few days later I shot a safety video on an early Sunday morning and asked a security guard if I could use the patio for a restaurant that hadn't been set up for the morning. Mid way through he came over and said "wow your English is almost perfect" and I was confused but later he laughed and said he thought I was Colombian.
@@ayngelina funny thing. I’m experiencing similar here in Ottawa. Whenever I hear people speaking Spanish, I like to interact with them and inquire where they are from.
I’ve been getting the same question thrown back at me lately. 🤣
Too funny!
love it! dying to eat some arepas.
They were so cheesy!
Hello Ayngelina, I watch your videos since you used to live in Cuenca, I love all of them! Can you share the name of the Hostal you stayed in Santa Marta? and how was it?
Yes it’s Hostel Espanolete. I highly recommend it and will be talking about it in an upcoming video because it was central, in a safe area, had the best wifi speeds I’ve ever been in and the owners are really great with recommendations.
Absolutely gorgeous
I really enjoyed my time there, so many good places to eat.
You make me so hungry now 😋.
This is the best compliment
Hello great job I'm also from Canada am a chef for years I travel all over but would like to do the same job as you for RUclips how do I get connected with them?
