To a women who has been selling tamales in the streets for years to giving her son an education to go to college! Respect. I definitely want to come here and grub!
Here is southern California you see many women selling tamales out of car trunks, coolers strapped to strollers, shopping carts etc and they don't to support their families. I like making small talk and getting to know them. I have a few ladies who are putting their kids through MEDICAL school and supplementing what financial aid and scholarships don't cover. Tamales are extremely time consuming to make and a LOT of work which is done manually. You gotta give this woman and ALL immigrants who hustle hard and aren't on a street corner holding up a sign asking for money like MANY US Citizens do. If an immigrant who speaks little to no English can make a living there is NO reason why American born and educated citizens are out on the street begging for a handout.

I don’t know her personally, don’t know what she would like to be called. Sad that me calling her Latina is such a big deal. The point that I am trying to make is that our people, emphasis in OUR (Latinos, Mexican, Hispanics, Puerto Rican, Salvadoran.....) are neither rapist nor drug dealers. It was a comment that would hopefully make the right point. Backfired though because we continue to focus on the labels that separate us. So let me try this. @Holy Hand Grenades Trump has been found guilty of two felonies (impeachable offenses) and you're worried about a woman's desire to work hard for her and her family's betterment. Choices.
@Holy Hand Grenades She said it in the video. Because Mayor Guiliani was super against anyone selling anything on the streets of New York, she was arrested several times for doing it anyways, because she was persistent on selling her tamales. But now since Mayor Bloomberg allows anyone to obtain the necessary permitting to sell on the streets, she can do it without getting arrested.
I know how to make tamales and they turn out AMAZING!! As good as they are, I can't make them more than twice a year! It's sooo much work! Specially for one person even if you aren't making the many. The only thing worse is the cleaning up afterwards! I fill like I use ALL of my cookware all at once

@Abraham Shekelbergstien No one in NY likes Bloomberg yet somehow he kept getting elected. Strange how that works. Does NYC have an electoral college system also?
@Abraham Shekelbergstien just because she spoke Spanish in this video does not mean she doesn't know/speak English. She literally says in the video that her husband and her are residents now. Maybe if you set your prejudices aside and actually watched the video, you'd have more sense.
Mexican food always saves the day. The tamale lady in Oregon used to come with the 1 dollar tamales, and the Taco carts used to have 1$ tacos. They understand not to overcharge.

Did some research and I believe it is called Evelia's Tamales in Queens!

Girl I am not here for argument. Get going.
@@cpbgcpbg2627 According to me I hate when people call me Latina (I'm Mexican) No hate though I'm just putting this out there.
There are so many labels. So so many. It is impossible to get them all right. According to most government forms we are Hispanic, I dislike that by the way.
HARD WORKING WOMAN ( HUMAN, IN CASE SOMEONE DOESN’T LIKE THE TERM WOMAN) NOT A RAPIST, NOT A DRUG DEALER.
guys cpbg cpbg is right, she is a latina as mexico is an latin america
If anyone in NYC is wondering how to get to her tamales, just take the 7 train to Junction Blvd.
EVERYDAY I walked by her stall and bought her tamales before mymorning classes and one day I saw that she was arrested with her shopping cart. But she kept coming.back.to sell.at.the.same.spot. That.was 13 years.ago.
I wanna go to NYC to try this are they good?
Keith Gomez I’ve heard they are really good! I want to go there sometime and try her tamales
I can’t imagine making tamales for a living. During Christmas my grandma makes me fill like 40 and it is so tiring.
I know how to make tamales and they turn out AMAZING!! As good as they are, I can't make them more than twice a year! It's sooo much work! Specially for one person even if you aren't making the many. The only thing worse is the cleaning up afterwards! I fill like I use ALL of my cookware all at once
Ana Diaz That’s exactly what I was thinking as I watched. These women are so hardworking
Lmao
I make em every weekend just for fun!
it’s definitely a labor of love. every time i ask my tia to make some for me she makes me help
Everyone can't make breakfast in the morning and this lady helps with that. Just buy some Tamales from this woman before you head to work. This is just awesome. And those tamales look delicious.
Thank God for people with common sense like Mayor Bloomberg, let people who want to work, work!
@Abraham Shekelbergstien Well she clearly doesn't hate him does she?
@Abraham Shekelbergstien not everyone cares about politics. Some only care about who gives them a chance to prove themselves.
Jat Tan Prove themselves by following the rules and laws like everyone else has to.
Damn she's making my breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Love her love.
Lol...
Probably shouldn’t do that bud
When I was down to my last dollar and hungry, the Tamale Doña saved the day.
Mexican food always saves the day. The tamale lady in Oregon used to come with the 1 dollar tamales, and the Taco carts used to have 1$ tacos. They understand not to overcharge.
BLACK PEOPLE
I've been there, brother. 👍
Making tamales is so much work! Respect for this queen! She’s got grit 🙌
This is hard work and perseverance. Take note people and stay humble 👏🏼
So true!!!

ARRIBA MI MEXICO LINDO Y CINGON! 🇲🇽✊🏾
I work down the street from there and have bought tamales from her, highly recommended. If you are in that neighborhood, try other great street foods. Ecuadorian skewered beef, chorizo and chicken, Oaxacan tamale guy- bit more expensive but worth it, the best quesadillas and gorditos in NYC, Colombian empanadas-the yellow ones, The 3 carne enchilada tacos for 5$ lady, Queso and mayo elotes, Ecuadorian Shrimp cocktail, Mexican helado -ice cream, mango with lime juice, Puerto Rican piragua shaved ice guy, Fresh squeezed jugos-so many kinds i can't name em.....
Is she outside the Junction Boulevard subway ?
@@JJ-iy7rk funny, the last time I checked, she wasn't there.....then again, it was late afternoon and during covid lockdown. Try early in the morning, that's the best time to catch her, if you like your tamales fresh but soft.
You just made me really hungry
