Update 2.8.24 I read up and Mo’s Burgers is still there in Harlem and doing well. Mo sold the barbershop and switch from a food stall to a mobile food truck. The burgers are now $2.50. The reviews are still overwhelmingly positive. Good on you brother for being a good man and a community rockstar

In 2001 I went on a trip to NYC with my mom and grandmother, we went on a bus tour and I begged my mom to get out in Harlem so I could take pictures at the Apollo Theatre. The bus was supposed to come back to the stop every 30 mins, but when we got off the bus it never came back. My mom and grandmother were scared to death because all they ever heard about Harlem was how rough it was. But I'm telling you, as a 16 year old white Canadian kid, I met some of the nicest people in that hour, every shop I went into everyone welcomed me with a smile. To this day Harlem was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip because the people were so friendly. If I ever make it back, hopefully I can grab a burger from Mo!

In 2001 I went on a trip to NYC with my mom and grandmother, we went on a bus tour and I begged my mom to get out in Harlem so I could take pictures at the Apollo Theatre. The bus was supposed to come back to the stop every 30 mins, but when we got off the bus it never came back. My mom and grandmother were scared to death because all they ever heard about Harlem was how rough it was. But I'm telling you, as a 16 year old white Canadian kid, I met some of the nicest people in that hour, every shop I went into everyone welcomed me with a smile. To this day Harlem was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip because the people were so friendly. If I ever make it back, hopefully I can grab a burger from Mo!
