My dad had a red maestro , when you removed the key from the ignition the engine still run , major fault on this car , apart from that it was decent enough and got us down to Cornwall and bsck
Too placid, lost its appeal, as that relaunch which I remembered well was most dull and flat, yet touched again on the many problems that we all sometimes have to endure in the real world.
If Philip Bowman had not messed with the theme tune when he took over and left it as it was before 1985, then Miss Dianes death episode and then the funeral episode would almost certainly have ended with the Paul McCartney and Wings version of the theme.
Not a great version of the original theme but never did a car (brown Austin Maestro) ever suit the opening credits and production values of a TV program so much. 😆😆
Absolutely. Philip Bowman really screwed up big time when he ditched the Tony Hatch original. He should have just left it as it was - sliding credits and all. Had he just left it alone, Miss Dianes death and funeral episodes certainly would have ended with the Paul McCartney and Wings version.
I never noticed before how the credits were just an ad for a car ;)
Bloomin' 'eck I feel old now! I used to watch this.
The car represents Noele Gordon. A old banger with a failed MOT heading for the scrapyard.
Love this intro so much especially with the added 80's twinkle on the theme
I love itv crossroads please come back with new cast
I don't mind this, it was far better than what they did in 1988, but - nothing beats the original!

As the mg maestro pulls into the car park you almost expect Partridge to wind down the wIndow and shout Aha!!!!!😂
My uncle's car (previously my dad's car) is shown on the Aston Expressway at the start.
is it still on the road?

This theme is different to the one introduced in 1985. Slightly improved with additional instruments.
My Dad used own a Massro 1.3L :)
That's the year I was born 35 in Jan ahh
Great advert for the Austin Maestro 😊
This was the time they killed off Diane, one of the best ever characters.
And Benny missed it.
What was this show about??

This i think was Diane’s last credited episode
Uplifted theme tune with a lighter feel.
Exactly. I wake up to this every morning.

Looks more red to me, and it's an MG rather than an Austin, but I agree.
It’s Red not Brown.
Ironically both the Maestro and Crossroads were both pieces of shit made in Birmingham…
Bland!! Give me the original please

Sounds like they killed off the theme too. Awful. 😲
Crap compared to the original.
