The farewell between Nancy and Rita always stands out for me. Great how that relationship grew after such a rocky start. Both strong characters and good actresses.
I love Prisoner quotes that are memorable. The only Nancy quote i consider memorable is 'i want you to promise me one thing, you'll ignore Joan's baiting, you won't fight and you won't take on Kath'. That's one promises, you don't want much do you?' 'I don't want you stopping in here forever'.
In hindsight i should add that in my opinion Julia Blake had a number of memorable quotes as Alice Dobbs... erm sorry lol Dodds. Dibbs, Dobbs, what's the difference?
This is one of those youtubes i could watch repeatedly. It has most of my favourite release scenes, which i edited together in compilation in both VHS and DVD, and kicks off with my favourite scene in episode 2, to be fair probably one of my top 10 scenes in the series, i just love Vera's coldness as she says 'the answer is no'.
In case you were wondering, and i am sure no-one was but my favourite scene in the show is during the Blackmoor riot when Spike tries to help Bongo but the the screws grab him and cuff him in the courtyard.
Lovely compilation. So many great characters to choose from from Bea's iconic goodbye to Debbie to Lexie leaving. A couple of my own faves missing, especially Julie leaving.
I've complained about the characters from time to time. It's all about being a soap opera, the characters get on your nerves, at times. The show was fantastic. I watched a little bit of it back when it came out, in 1979. The show was taken off the air in Canada, for whatever reason. So I never finished the show. I didn't watch it untill it came out on RUclips. After I watched the remake Wentworth. I was looking through youtube and found this series. I've been watching it since. I've read some negative comments about the rebute. However; if it wasn't for the rebute, I would never found the original prisoner. I love both series. The rebute is much darker and more violent.
As good as the advice Nancy gives Rita, i think she breaks all 3 parts of the promise in one go in the scene which ends with Joan having her transferred to Blackmoor. Don't get me wrong, as much as i love the Freak, i am on Rita's side lol.
As long as she's still alive. Top Dog Queen Bea Smith vowed to hate drugs because of how Debbie ended up six feet in the ground because of drugs. Drugs what killed Debbie Smith and from then on Bea decided to hate drugs. Which was her way of avenging Debbie's death and putting an end to any drug-related operating ring that was going on behind bars. Debbie was everything to Bea. And her husband Debbie's father didn't give a hoot about Debbie in other words abandoned her while Bea was in Wentworth. Bea was refused permission to attend Debbie's funeral by Vinegar Tits Vera Bennett and that broke Bea down. Vinegar Tits is nasty and mean and very cruel indeed. Vinegar is not Governor of Wentworth. Erica Davidson is until Ann Reynolds takes Erica's place.
