    Clean bowling action, decent pace, unmatched control on line and length and swing made Asif the deadliest bowler.. He stood right at the top with greats like Mcgrath and Wasim but poor choices led to his downfall.. Still miss his bowling..

      Pace alone shouldn't determine that ranking of the bowler. They can use movement, accuracy, any number of ways. In the end its about performance and asif was destroying top batsmen consistently more so than even Steyn.

      @@Sirwastealot I would put Steyn ahead of Mcgrath but not because of pace. And Akram bowled faster than Steyn. Steyn was always more consistent than Asif except at the end of his career. Steyn had a better outswinger. Steyn was also surprisingly good in pitches known as graveyard for pacers. But Asif had more control and was definitely more of a line and length bowler than Steyn. In that respect Mcgrath is the best.

    The best swing bowler at that moment. Michael Clark's delivery was really unplayable. In 2007 T20 World Cup he really bowled well against us. I was glad he could only bowl 4 overs. But seriously I miss this talent. He would have been a great competitor

    One of the best bowlers I have ever seen. Still remember the test match in which he bowled three of the best batsmans of that generation successively (laxman, Sachin, sehwag). Wish he could return but unfortunately not.

    At 11 seconds it looks like a painting. The stumps broken by a gem of a delivery with consummate ease. Asif never looked like was trying. He out thought the batsmen every time.

      He is a seam bowler, McGrath too was a seam bowler.
      Moving in air is swing like what James Anderson do.
      Moving after pitching is seam.

      Bhai log...just see his bowling clips the way he moved/swung the ball both sides as he wishes... irrespective of the condition...he was the rarest of rare talent... McGrath was dependent on conditions..

    He had incredible control over length. And the ability to swing and bounce at will. You need to watch a whole spell of his bowling to judge him. Not 1, 2 or even 6 wicket taking deliveries. He epitomized the joy which test cricket stands for.

    It is difficult to break down Asif's bowling technique even today, clueless how he created the deceptive movement in the air and off the pitch. Only if he would have resisted the temptation to fixing he would easily have been on the top for the longest any bowler would have in cricketing history. GOAT to me indeed

    Great bowling indeed. What an art of swing and seam bowling.
    We really missed the commentary that Tony Greig used to do. He is one of the best commentator of all time. We loved to hear him during matches. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

    Really I mean one of the saddest stories of Pakistan cricket that is of Asia what a bowler he was yar genius the best Sam bowler I have ever seen unfortunately a talent wasted by him self had he been playing know he would have been a legend and he would have been in league of Anderson's Steyn and broad really very sad what a waste of talent love from India

    I think Asif was the best Pakistani pacer so far.
