    I have been lifting for 30 plus years , and only now have been shown the proper way. I have spent 5 bench sessions so far getting the technical aspect down. It is tough . thank you dave for sharing this .

    I have the same issue on the bench that Dr. Rusin has... And it pisses me off when i hear people say that bench press should be fixed with more benching! Great point Dave!

    One thing I’ve noticed with some of the people Dave trains is that every time he says something they feel as if they have to interrupt or say something that makes them sound smart. Just stfu and listen to Dave. Great video nonetheless

      @@minecraftlord568 the reverse band enables the coach to see how active/ tight the lifters lats are in the bottom of the bench. The weight is so light at the bottom, (with first couple sets) that you have to "pull" the bar to the chest

    After 2,3 yrs. And being stubborn, I've got the whole bench procedure down....up on your traps, scapula, grip, the proper take out ,settling, etc etc. It has been a game changer and I PR most of my training. Be patient and consistent w the set up and trust me ,you will be happy. Focus.

      O C Yep. And people just don’t know how to spot. Better idea- put weight on the par that you can handle or bench in the power rack with safety pins. I don’t need David Blaine levitating my barbell. Lift off and back off!

      People can touch the bar but as Dave said this person must not put force into it! I can spot with my hands on the bar without fucking the lift up but to be honest almost nobody unless taught do it right

      MuEnViFitness It depends on the gym. The vast majority of people do not have a clue how to spot. So I stopped using them a long time ago. I’ll set up safety pins in the power rack or just make sure it a weight I can handle. Don’t need David Blaine levitation under the bar.

      Looks like about 135+ at the bottom because he has to row the bar into his chest, and then almost nothing at lockout

    Why the band's? Use the resistance gravity provides. Build from there. The reverse bands seem pointless. Could he do 405 for real. Don't think so.
