- Thanks for watching my video on the wasted potential of Travis from “Fear the Walking dead” a spin off show from the “Walking dead”. If you enjoyed please like and subscribe it would mean a lot! I do not own any of these video clips I have just added commentary and my own opinion.

Travis was fears Rick, killing him off so early was a huge blow to the show.
Yeah it felt so rushed :(
Absolutely agree... Then Nick followed, and Troy (even for the 2nd time and I will never forgive FTWD for that, it was so dumb)
Very true, the biggest blow, at least until Season 4
@@Batbloxmanthis show is unwatchable without him and Nick
@@russelljconquerslifehawkey When I got spoiled about Troy dying a 2nd time by Madison, I stopped right there that crap show (season 8)
It's funny how the whole premise of the show was hey were gonna show yall where the zombie virus started. That only lasted all of 2 episodes then they just became the walking dead 2.0
Facts! They rushed it to fast. I was loving the first season. Was hoping they stayed in the high-school like the walking dead did for the prison
They had so much potential material with the military occupation and martial law. Then they skipped right over it. So lame.
When you get walking dead off wish
Dude got the impossible death by quickscope in a helicopter moving in high speed in air middle of the dark night
It was realistic death though, life happens
They completely wasted him…and I felt bad for him when his son picked a group of strangers who left him to die.
Yeah that’s actually so true Chris was probably the worst character in the show tho so I was quite happy he died
@@theohuntt yea Chris was super annoying and I was kinda glad he was gone
So unfortunate that he was killed off. Loved the first 2 seasons but it lost me when a lot of the main characters were killed off in poor ways. Nick too. That’s when I stopped watching and felt the show lost its magic.
100% when Nick died the show died with him
It's was literally Nick's show too
Yep I quit when they pushed the truckers dropping stuff off. So lame after Travis and nick died
Nicks death was heartbreaking
Travis’s scenes when we got to see his more violent side were so entertaining. I find that it’s always the characters that try the hardest to retain their humanity that end up up becoming the most savage. Awesome video
They didn’t have to kill him off. Just separate him from his family then later on seasons bring him back.
Exactly they should’ve done the same thing like they did with Madison and Maggie.
Basically how they did Madison, Maggie, Morgan, Merle, Michone, and Rick
It was probably the actors decision. I read that the actor who played Nick specifically asked to be killed off so he wouldn't be hounded by "are you coming back?" Questions from people. Could have been the same deal here
Good video. FTWD was a massive waste of potential in its own right, but I feel Travis is really the embodiment of that.
Thank you! I couldn’t agree with you more
His death was SO OUT OF NOWHERE
Zero build up
I know genuinely when I first saw it I thought I’d missed a couple of episodes That’s how out of no where it came 😭😭😭
I know genuinely when I first saw it I thought I’d missed a couple of episodes That’s how out of no where it came 😭😭😭
That’s not true, he was thrown in a Walker pit and we thought he was fine but he actually got bit. Also the natives shooting him in the helicopter introduces the new “villains”. I don’t like his death but it wasn’t out of no where
@isaiahjones6255 Why would he endanger Alicia's life by getting in the helicopter knowing he was bit? Makes no sense. That wound was most likely a gunshot.
@@alexanderm.635 Go watch the scene bc clearly you didn’t. Even on Google it states that he had a hidden bit mark on his stomach. He was only shot in the neck. And he wasn’t really putting her in danger it take atleast a day or two to turn.
I agree! Same with Nick too. I’ve always said they left the wrong members of that family alive.
I don’t think he was the Rick of the group, Madison was painted as the leader from the start, i think of him like a mix of Dale and Abraham, he was a the moral compass and the “tough Guy”
Yeah very true at one point in season 2 though for a couple of episodes he became the main character of the show and the original intentions before the head writer got fired during season 3, Maddison was going to become the villain and Nick was going to be the main character and I think on a watch back you can clearly see these plot points taking shape early on

I guess I don’t blame Cliff for chasing the bag with Avatar Way of Water. But still loved the character and wish he stayed.
This dude was going down a DARK path. Shame it got cut off so fast. This show was so perfect
Travis was definitely my favorite in the earlier seasons. His battle with being a moral compass while trying to protect his family. I remember when I first watched this episode and thought how much of a waste this death was. Fear the walking dead died with Travis and most definitely Nick. Thank you for posting this video
Yeah, I’ve watched the first four seasons of FTWD, it feels like they focus majorly of early season on Nick. Like Nick were meant to be the focus on the show.
Yeah definitely season 2 is basically all Nick and that’s why it’s my favourite season of the show
The first 3 seasons are really good, and then season 4 was mediocre season 5 even though I have a soft spot for it being the first walking dead show I watched on a weekly basis it was awful, season 6 Is really good, and then season 7 had a great first episode and fell off, and season 8 is just disgustingly disrespectful to the fans
And they completely rip off dying lights camo, and then act like it never happened. Stupid
Feels like The end of Season 3 was basically the end of the show, and Season 4 started a spinoff😂
Literally!!! I’m my opinion they should have just ended on season 3 after they fired Dave Erickson
It may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually liked how his death was played out. One minute there, the next he's gone with no buildup. It felt realistic. No drama or long and drawn out emotional time to take in the fact that he was dying. Just a moment of silence to realize what just happened, followed by him plummeting to his doom with no real time to digest it. Because in reality, in a real zombie apocalypse, this is how 95% of people would die. Just there one minute, and the next minute, dead. It just left me in a state of shock with my mouth wide open. And so unexpected too because it was such a high-value character. I can't fault the producers FOR killing him off because Cliff Curtis wanted off the show as far as I'm aware. But it was definitely a ballsy move to kill him off in such a sudden and not drawn out way. But I truly think it worked well.
I agree, that they killed him too soon. but in my opinion the largest mistake they made killing a character was nick.... he should have been alive a lot longer.
Nick was supposed to last much longer but he asked to be killed off. Guess it runs in the family, his father played Stannis in GoT and also asked to be killed off.
I looooved Travis on FTWD. But I knew he wouldn’t be on there long since Curtis is such an in-demand actor. He was phenomenal. Gladly would have loved to see him switch long-term stories with Madison (who’s terrible)
Yeah very good point Cliff Curtis is an amazing actor I did feel like him and Madison never had any chemistry tho
I was kinda surprised they landed Curtis in the main cast
I also felt like it got cringey at times. i miss how dark this show started and then it felt like the walking dead with the boomerang writing :/ I think he was complex and they could have used him.
Yeah I loved the story ark of him becoming more of a savage to then killing him one episode later :/ and yeah the later seasons of fear are defo a drag
Travis and nick were some of the best characters my final straw was john thats when I couldn't be botherd investing into the show. Enjoying a good character just for them to kill them of in unremarkable boring ways.
Yeah nicks death was the worst for me
This was the only cast member I tuned in for. When he made that high altitude no opening exit, I did too.
Almost every walking dead character was wasted. They stopped caring about good writing. That’s why Nick left as well. Most characters weren’t developed properly. Jesus, Tara, CARL even. Carl was criminally wasted
Yeah Carl was meant to outlive Rick like he did in the comics :(
FTWD to me was about this family, both sides of it. It was a family drama show set in a Zombie apocalypse. How well certain aspects of the family drama was handled can be debated. It's just that was the show. Then they started killing off Travis' side of family at a rapid rate. His sudden death was the sign of what was to come for Maddison's side of the family.
One of the few likeable early seasons character
They killed off the two most likeable characters with the father and the drug addict
most of the enemies were like stormtroopers trying to shoot the main cast, but u got deadshot 1 shotting travis on a moving helicopter from the ground.
Travis was a great character and I really liked Troy when Troy died I stopped watching for a while.
Yeah honestly Nick I felt the exact same after Nicks death Troy was such an intriguing character such a shame they killed him off without a second thought after Dave Erickson was fired :/
I think Troy came back honestly, I never watched season 8 but I think he and Madison are back
@@jeremyscungio16no way really I haven’t watched season 7 or 8 yet that’s crazy if he does he was literally hit with a hammer twice and blown up 😭
@@theohuntt troy didn't die he came bacc
They origonally wanted to turn him into a badass surivvor. But then AVATAR came along
Hahahaha literally why has avatar got to ruin everything :(
Blue avatar or air bender?
@@quantusmillenius718 He was signed to be in Avatar movies so he left for that
@@quantusmillenius718dude been in both actually lol
@@Cyxap1844 shit i forgot. He played the live action ozai in the 2010 movie. The movie we shall not remember.
He annoyed the hell out of me with how he kept trying to save Chris. Infuriating
Him falling out of the helicopter was so abrupt.
Honestly i don't know wtf they were doing during those earlier season when they killed off several of there Main characters i.e Nick & Travis. An it didn't help the fact that they have to bring over people from the original series, like as if Fear the walking dead is compensating for one thing and that is they needed recognizable characters cause they dropped the ball.
If that was the route they are taking they might aswell killed of all our characters by season 3 or 4. Showing that in the walking dead universe not every group of are main protagonist could survive in the apocalypse in a bittersweet ending.
Yeah 100% FTWD seasons 1-3 provided something we hadn’t seen before it was interesting following these completely new characters I just wish Dave Erickson never got fired as show runner as he had planned Nick to become the main character for a whole 7 seasons! :(
Lorenzo James did amazing with Chris’ psychopathic or sociopathic tendencies, love him or hate him
I watched until the end of Season 3 and then called it quits. Killing Travis so early on when he was being so highly developed, and very likeable was a bad move you could feel the effects from seasons later.
I absolutely loved Travis, a badass with a heart of gold. The show really died without him and the heroin addict GOAT Nick.
Travis reminds me of a mashup of Rick and Dale of his character imo
Irony of the Rick surviving things... blown up, shot, stabbed, rebar, helicopter crash, and falling from a helicopter. lmao
Facts they definitely wasted him nd i couldn’t stand his selfish wife and crazy son
Travis, Nick, and John Dorie are characters that should've lived longer in FTWD, their deaths was so unnecessary and out of nowhere that they should've separate them from the group and come back on the later seasons, like they did with Maggie and Madison.
Def should’ve left his death more open ended so he could come back
Idk, Madison and him could have a Rick/Shane dynamic
This was a great video! I'm looking forward to more.
Thank you bro I’m currently editing one rn on Nick Clark so I hope you enjoy that too!
The soul of the show left with Travis and Nick
Travis and John Dorie would've 100% carried FearTWD if they lived till the end of season 8
Yea I remember thinking how pointless his death was and kept watching. Once Nick was killed off the show went completely downhill
Wasted potential seems to be the name of the game in FTWD
Yeah season 2 have barely got started and they killed travis. I just stopped watching at that point cuz I knew where all this was going again.
For such a good character they killed him off like he was a side character. He gets shot in the neck and just falls out of a helicopter
I like how the guy was not comfortable with guns but they didn't make him a complete coward due to that.
I hated for Travis that his character *needed* Chris to die.. and it only got worse when he himself was tossed into a ditch like trash.
That was enough of that show for me.
I loved Travis so much he is the most underrated character in twdu imo he was so geat his actor did amazing i loved his kindess and s3 ep 1 is still the best ep in fear imo Travis was becoming fears rick aswell as that ep where he killed theose 2 boys i hate how he got killed of the ep after just like that wish he had some sort of sacrifice and died at the end of the season a shem his actor had to do avatar honestly i hated his death the most 😢
It makes it worse that then Troy, nick and Madison died soon after like wtf man i get that nicks actor wanted it leave but still not sure about Kim Dickens but honestly Madison isn't a good character at all so overrated her actor acts weirdly bad sometimes
You mean the wasted potential of FTWD.
They killed off all of the interesting characters. Nick and trav were the best part of the show.
I'd argue killing Travis saved the character. Scott Gimple would have reduced him to a shell of his former self from season 4 onwards.
After season 1 this show was basically FTWD 2.0. Should have used way more time on the outbreak phase instead of rushing trough it like they did.
Then they killed Travis and Nick and it died out.
I could see how he would impact the rest of the seasons after his death
I agree Travis and nick where the heart of the show
Once they killed him he is never mentioned again and Madison only thinks about her kids and never once gave a thought towards Travis once he died.
Twd will always be known as the tv show that killed off so much of its own potential due the horrible writers they brought along
I thought Travis was a very good character. Thought he was on track to be very similar to Rick but with his own uniqueness. However, i also really like the season 3 story arc which may not have worked super well with travis so 🤷
He was my favorite character in ftwd
He could do to skulls with his own fists what Negan could do with a bat.
He was the best part of fear the walking dead. He never was bit btw he died from that stray bullet which i thought was pretty bad ass. He killed all those walkers bare handed without getting bit
I feel like Madison should’ve at least found Travises walker
Spot on.
I think the reason why Travis was killed off was because if my memory is correct. The actor who portray him was offered more money to play another TV show.
The actor had signed on to act in the trio of Avatar (sequel) movies. He did have permission to film Fear for season 3, but it also was clear that he would have been tight on time.
Yeah I remember being like wtf. The only reason I kept watching until season 5 was because of Morgan, but even he couldn't keep me intrested. I reached half of season 5 and quit.
Better to kill him off in season 3 than have the new showrunners ruin his character and turn him into a monologue-machine in season 4 and beyond.
The random death added some much needed realism imo.
well i dont think he could of since the actor had other projects he wanted to do
FTWD season 1-3 had so much wasted potential, genuinely could’ve been better than the main show imo
Travis and Troy were the two most under utilized characters in Fear.
i mean lets just face it they killed off every good character in that show and it feels like they only did it because everyone complained that all the good characters in twd never die
I just love how under every single walking Dead related video, in the comment section for this it is always everything past season 3 was trash. This really does prove that you need ogs to stay around for a quite long time until you introduce newer characters. Why do y'all think that a good chunk of The walking Dead cast was still alive until season 7 or 8?!
The problem is, the salary he was probably earning wasn't great on ftwd compared to the money he'd make on Avatar, so money could've been a deciding factor
I am more shocked they didn’t bring him back in the last season
Him and Nick were the hearts of the show...
Well said. Travis was awesome.
The show was compltelty botched from season 4 onwards, travis dying wasnt a good move but killing nick was the final stray for the show.
Kim Dickens is billed first in the credits of the show for a reason. Travis was never the "Rick" of this show. There was never supposed to be someone like him. Everyone misses the point of the first 3 seasons' story : Madison becoming a villain. Travis dying just propelled that further. Still sucks AMC ruined the show. Dave Erickson could've delivered something deliciously dark to balance out TWD's hope filled bullshit. Great video though!
Also, the decision wasn't forced on the writers. Erickson decided to go for it to push Madison. All the fans kept saying Travis was the lead so he put all of you in your place lol Erickson's said they had plans to write around Avatar, they just chose not to. Hence Cliff returning in the finale.
Weird question, but are you based in Sheffield? You have the exact same name as someone I know. Good content, though!
Haha no I’m based in london that’s a funny coincidence though
Went out with a whimper, definitely cut before his prime stride
TWD was supposed to be POST apocalypse, FTWD was supposed to be DURING/PRE apocalypse. IMO when they went to Mexico and then Travis died the show went downhill. I was interested in "how" it started and during but AMC turned it into TWD 2.0
Man when they kind of made him little bit psycho. That was pretty cool built up for Travis. Also that conclusion sounds tight. It reminds me of Thomas Wayne vs Martha Wayne[ Batman ] too sad Avatar came while FTWD was filming. ps [ bleep ] Chris. Lol.
Daniel is and forever will be the goat
Even tho Seson 3 is GOATED
Travis death was the most shocking shit I've ever seen and I hated it at the time. Thankfully Troy Otto existed the GOAT and he saved the season for me. Travis Really felt like he was the Main Character of the show. To have him die like that was so random lol this entire show is just complete wasted potential
If only he didn’t sign up to do avatar 2 😭
Travis was my favorite character is why I stopped watching the show like he was the main character.
I hate the Daughter she’s annoying especially the face expression she makes.
Your right he was just starting to get the hang of it and they kill him off. They messed up.
the producers be like: OH, BUT SHOCK FACTOR!!! 🤓
Damn you Avatar!!
Holy FUCK did they mess up, it was so shocking that I thought he lived falling out of the helicopter, I was waiting season's for this man to come back because of his little sense him dying made. One of the first and most avoidable failures of the show.
Travis and maybe Carl are the only "wasted potential" i really agree with in TWDU, other's i don't really care that much. I will die on the hill that Travis was wasted. The Ones Who Live ending....? Ehhh it could've been longer, they could explain some things to clear it up... idk, i enjoyed it.
Daniel, Strand and Travis started as my favourite characters. There was so much to work with.
But the writing fell to bits before our eyes.
Nick though, urgh, never the lead character.
I stopped watching the show when they killed him off. Travis was the best thing about the show.
Bro after Travis died the group got done so dirty
AND THE ONLY REASON I KEPT WATCHING ITS BECAUSE MORGAN
And I wanted to see that annoying girl get 200 pumped
And Madison’s flash back was just sad
Travis for me was the Rick of FTWD, I liked him a lot, when he died I lost all interest in that series (I haven't seen anything beyond a little of the 3rd season)
Boils down to AMC being complete ass, everything they touch they turn it to shit
Finally! Was waiting on someone bringing this up. Killing him off was a horrible decision. Made me quit watching as it was so dumb
The most frustrating death in any TV show I've seen.
The whole first 3 season were wasted effort just for it to go to crap
Nobody is dead until you see a walker or a corpse
