me too but i need to increase ram and ssd, newer games like total war warhammer 3 are honestly a pain to play without upgrading. Otherwise crazy good laptop for it's generation
This laptop is the reason I'm finally switching from Mac to PC. It's a little scary, but I found a version of the G752 (the 24 gigs of RAM, $1900 one) that's LESS expensive than the highest-tier Macbook Pro, but SO much more powerful!
I bought my ASUS ROG G752VT-DH74 at a local pawn shop. I couldn't believe my eyes that this was even sitting on the shelf at a place like that. This one happens to be the more expensive G752VT with 24 GBs of DDR4 RAM and 6GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce 970M with 1TB Hard Drive and 256GB Solid State Drive. I picked it up for $843 after taxes. This particular configuration retails for about $1950. A hell of a deal if you ask me!
NICE review, I actually recommended a couple of my buddies to your channel because of what an excellent job you do. Thanks , can't wait for your next one.
I've been an Asus ROG G752VY owner for the past year and one crucial setback you should have included was the ~55 second boot time. I previously owned an Asus G750JZ that completely booted up in about less than 10 seconds. Another setback is the PCIe SSD was originally advertised on Asus as "512GB SSD" when really they meant "2x256GB SSD with no working RAID" in early 2016 when I originally purchased this product. After bringing the misleading nature of that to Asus' attention, they silently adjusted their wording from "512GB SSD" to "512GB SSD (2x256 SSD)" but that missing RAID issue may have been fixed by now. Finally, Asus drivers leave much to be desired. Casual usage like what you were demonstrating with double-clicking icons and playing games is one thing but, for example, if you connect to your Asus G752 via Remote Desktop (RDP) from another computer, your laptop's drivers will lose track of whether or not to continue back lighting the keyboard. So if you exit out of your RDP connection and get back on the laptop directly, you may need to reboot your laptop or reload your Asus keyboard drivers to get keyboard back lighting working again. This laptop is great if you're willing to look past the things mentioned above and upgrade the PCIe to a Samsung 512GB SSD and swap the 1TB HDD for a 2TB SSD.
Had mine (g752 VY71) since January...very happy with it.....wonderful with games...great screen...only complaint? I would have liked to see a different easier to read font with the ability to change keyboard back-lighting to white...other than that beautiful, wonderful machine
I got G752VL-DH71 and I play Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, and Dying Light The Following Enhanced Edition all in high settings and gets 28-45 FPS. Worth it!
Still got my G752VY and have had it since 2015. Just upgraded SSD to 2TB with 1TB HDD and 64GB of ram and running Windows11, which runs well. Great Laptop.
Asus def is getting better by every release, in both laptop and mobile division and this laptop series is quite better than some of the available options in market. Great review as usual. Keep up the good work 👍👌
ASUS ROG G752VL BHI7N32 Bought this new on clearance at Best Buy. RAM is upgraded to a total of 44 GB. Bought this for under $900 and upgraded RAM for an additional $250. I'll be installing a SSD shortly and should be done with hardware changes. Thoughts so far: A little big to haul around but a great unit overall. This is the second ASUS I've purchased. I still use its brother everyday for office chores and it been a reliable work horse! The new unit is snappy and cool to look at also. Price was incredible for what I've gotten!
I've had this same laptop for about 2 months now. the review is spot on accurate. I love this laptop. but speakers having slight echo is correct. also the touch pad is inconsistent like the video says. I don't have any problems with the materials or build quality. overall loving the laptop.
+EugeneDaVanquisher it runs guild wars 2 full settings easily. does not get hot at all. same with marvel heroes 2015, and civ5. only games I've tried so far.
@@MatthewMoniz I'm hoping you'll have a moment, I have one of these laptops laying around and the screen is broken. What I'm wondering is if it would be worth it to repair, so I can use the Thunderbolt 3.0 port for an external GPU? I have everything but the screen, which is about $150.
I had this laptop for about 3 months now. And I love it!!. I'm a softcore gamer. I play games like Blade and Soul, WoW and League of Legends. and this thing handles them with no problem. This is worth the buy.
I just want to point out that there's a difference between the 980 and the 980M. You should clarify that you're referring to the 980M and not the 980 to prevent confusion.
These speakers are actually really nice. My friends dad has this laptop and it's super nice, he is gonna sell it to me for like $400 CAD because he got a new custom built PC.
I don't always watch laptop reviews, but when I do, I watch Matthew Moniz's reviews. I'm still working on my Lenovo X1 Carbon based on your video review. One question: I have a GTX 980M in my current machine - is it possible to swap it into the Asus?
+Matthew Moniz Well thank you for asking :) I just spend 6 hours getting everything over from my old ROG from 2009 and setting stuff up. I can finally play "Skyrim" without godmode and laggggg LOL. I got the comp as an open box item at BB for $1000 and think I did well. Now the fun begins! As a casual gamer this must be the one for me, the only other one they had was the Alienware Dell for $1699 and all the staff said it would be a waste to buy that one. I think all I will upgrade in time is the ram as you suggested. I just have to buy a 32 gig component, right? Thanks again for the awesome insight ! Oh is Fallout 4 ( I think that's the new one ) playable on this one? I am so wanting to get that game.
This is the best and most beautyful looking laptop I have ever seen! And even for it`s age it has still great specs. But the best thing is this absolute gorgeous beautyful design with this dark brushed aluminium and stylish geometrical shapes.
NOTE! If you care about recording from an outside source (e.g. tape recorder...) you should know that Asus doesn't know the difference from line-in and line-out. Asus claim the G752VT has a line-in when in fact it's a audio out! So if you plan to do recording you have to buy a separate sound card. If you read Asus specifications on this laptop it says line-in but if you look at the actual connection it shows an outgoing arrow .i.e. audio out. If you connet to a extern audio source there is no way to make it a line-in. The microphone connection will not do the job. I never thought a big company like Asus would make such mistakes!
+Chris Dude - I bought a G750JX in October 2013, I got them to swap the stock 256 GB SSD with a Samsung 840 EVO 256 GB (no extra cost). Still running sweet, no compelling reason for me to upgrade.
+PhantomTech Thanks!! It takes time. I still have a long ways to go but every video it will get easier = ) Watch my earlier stuff it's terrible = ) Thanks for watching!
I bought the Schenker XMG P706-Pro with a 2450€ configuration. I compared it with Alienware 17 R3, G752 and MSI Dominator. But nothing is greater than the P706-Pro
ASUS Republic of Gamers G752 laptop - Bought it new. Battery died at 4 years. Motherboard died at 5. Aftermarket battery wasn't too hard to find. Couldn't find a motherboard. Also, select games would cause it to lock up. 5th laptop I've owned. Highest performance of the five but also more issues than all other laptops combined. If anyone has an old one they would like to sell for the motherboard, let me know.
+Matthew Moniz hello, ended up getting a G751 with the GTX 970M and the G-SYNC panel it's pretty much the same laptop and it's way cheaper, and i'm super happy with it, thanks
Recently bought the G752VY, loving it so far! One thing that should be said is that Asus Game First 3 software messes up with Geforce Experience software, to fix this, just remove either 1.
I was a huge fan of Asus but with Alienware starting to make their prices more reasonable and the graphic amplifier, I went with an Alienware 17 this time.
Gideon Sanchez I got it as well bro, Gsync is awesome got the division with it as well. I am a little sad though cause new nvidia and amd gpus are launching on july so anyone looking to buy wait till august.
The surface of this laptop is just a beuty. I love my g751jt, but this plastic wich is full of fingerprints is not my favorite.. But in the other hand, the style on the keyboard side is much better in this imo.
This has been a great computer however, the screen went black. Power button is lit. If I force shutdown it powers right back on. I have to unplug it to turn off but as soon as I plug it back in it powers up, still black. None of the tips to fix I have found have worked. Nobody can tell me what's wrong or know how to fix it.
Thanks Reza! It's powerful enough for designing and rendering but the monitor is not designed for editing but if you hook it up to an external one you'll have more accurate colours
My roommate recently bought this laptop and the fan runs abnormally high even when it's idle. He took it back and bought another one, but he ran into the same problem. Anyone else experiencing this?
+Matthew Moniz I've been looking for a new laptop for a couple of weeks now and done a ton of research but I can't work out which would be best for me, I'm getting no where, could you help? I have up to around £1500 ($1944) to spend. I will be using my laptop for running Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and other animation software. Obviously I want the best for what my money can buy. I was considering this Asus ROG G752 VY or VT...... Would you recommend this or is there something better on the market? Thanks!
Sir can you please review the latest Asus GL702VM(titanium) with the new Kabylake Quad core processor which was announced at recently at CES 2017. Thanks! I love your vids. Love from India.
LOCKHEAD?? No. LockHEED. And that is the F-22 Raptor. Though it IS a "Stealth" fighter, the only "Fighter" that officially had the name Stealth in the name was the F-117, so you should have just stated it was based off the Raptor. (My older ROG with the redone Sandy Bridge, was based off the F-117.)
+SLACKPLAN9 I butchered the name ! I'm Canadian our army uses Canadian geese with pellet guns taped to their wings. Also me saying the name wrong is irrelevant the review is what matters. Thanks for watching !
RAM doesn't affect the gaming. 16gb of RAM is more that enough for gaming. However, if you plan on doing professional 3D modeling with engineering programs like Autodesk Rivit, then 32gb will be more useful.
If you want a 15-inch version of this check out the ASUS ROG GL502. I did a review of it on my channel. It's pretty similar. The battery life for the GL502 is about 5-hours of non-gaming
I dont know which one to pick this one you reviewed expect with 980m or the Alienware 17 with the same spec (980m, 8GB ram, 1TB+256GB SSD ,4K resolution)
+monther almamari The ASUS ROG G752 with the 980M has more RAM than the one you stated there. The Alienware might have issues in the future without getting a RAM upgrade
+Graystripe000 beside the RAM, the alienware is cheaper, I dont really need higher ram than 8 GB, maybe in the future yes but not for now, the most important for me is the 980m I find the ASUS is expensive and I can get better choices with the same price But still cant make a decision do you know other alternative might be good ?
The ASUS ROG G751JY is the predecessor to the G752, and it's a little old now. It has most likely gone down in price by now and it is in the same hardware range as what you're looking for, I believe. store.asus.com/us/item/201510AM160007800/A18486
I just got the same model and it's amazing the only think I found is there is a light bleeding and some is becoming very noticeable when you i look from a lower angle, so do you have a problem of screen bleeding by any means?
that is a big laptop does it handle heavy gaming for such a big laptop i know the gx800's already sold out but atleast i have the chance to get the g752
i got the one with the 980m and it works awesome but keep in mind that its heavy as fuck and big as well keep it in mind because its a pain in the ass when you have to go to University with it everyday :)
DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP, I purchased it 5 months ago and it is by far the WORST laptop/pc ive ever owned or built since the 1990's. There are non stop software and hardware issues with it, alot of them unsolvable. Buy anything else except a rog asus.
max z Anything else will be better, mine is at the repair center now awaiting screen replacement. Ive only used it for 5 months an have never moved it from its place.
Hi Matthew, your videos are so helpfull but now I really need your help. I want to buy an asus rog but I don´t understad why the rog g751 is cheaper than the g752. It has a better graphic card and more ram, I am talking about g7511 6gb vs g752 12gbs version. I really need your help and advice of which one you think is better. I am studying 3D animation so I need a good computer, I don´t care a lot about the desing. Thank you so much, you would help me a lot.
i might be late, but the g751 is a more early model and usually older models are cheaper. look at asus rog gl502vm if you want the most performance for price.
Hello, Matthew. You've said that G751 is almost the same machine, but as I see in videos G751 is a lot bigger than G752.. is that a great difference? Thanks.
+Bruno Pato the G751 measures 16.40" x 12.50" x 0.90"-1.70" 8.40 lbs, and the G752 measures 16.40" x 12.70" x 0.80"-1.50" 8.80 lbs...according to Newegg
I still have this laptop to this day! Still functions well. Bought it around Dec 2015 (i think)
me too but i need to increase ram and ssd, newer games like total war warhammer 3 are honestly a pain to play without upgrading. Otherwise crazy good laptop for it's generation
still have this laptop 8 years later. was a beast back then and can still manage to play newer games with low settings

+IAN 4000 Welcome to competition, where prices are actually fair.
I'm in the same boat.
You could save even more money by buying the 16 gb ram version, then adding an additional 16 gb yourself.

Hey,
nice Video.
Wich microfone you use to record your voice in this video??;)
What do you mean by "room to upgrade"? Also, great vid! Very big resource in my decision
Also, why would you recommend the G751 over this? Is it because of the battery issues, or just the price?
for the battery life, yes it does takes 2 hours to fully charge.
But when i use the laptop it takes 1 hour or less. 😐
The surface of this laptop is just a beuty. I love my g751jt, but this plastic wich is full of fingerprints is not my favorite.. But in the other hand, the style on the keyboard side is much better in this imo.
My laptop is the 1300$ i7 model. My school provided for us to keep.
I'm sure I'll upgrade it sooner or later like this one is set up.
Wtf! what kind of school provides you with gaming laptops?

is there a case for this? I want to protect my baebe
Great vid...liked & new subscriber! Happy 4th of July!!!
+Howie Rader Thanks Howie!! Welcome to the channel : )
Thanks!
the battery does not really matter to me i have used laptops before with poor battery life before so the battery isn't really gonna annoy me
Hello Mr. Moniz, good review. Please review the new Asus G701 VI OC Edition with the Kaby Lake processor. Thank you.
+Murtaza Nazham thanks Murtaza! I plan too stay tuned!
Look forward to it. Thank you.
Had the 750, definitely was the best at the time
in the intro you said it uses a skylake processor and at the end you said it is a haswell!
+Na C that's not what i said. I said if you want to save money buy the previous model with the haswell processor as you will get similar performance
Wow it runs cooler than my iphone 6s plus playing unkilled. Very impressive! Amazing job Asus!
i bought this laptop it's awesome i'm telling you
Just got it. Any tips would be welcomed.
I'm Australian I got a Acer predator that had a 980m that was $1.799 AUS
only a GTX970 bad one had to be more like a 1070 gtx
Based on your conclusion, you're saying that G751 is better???
It's not that it's better, it's just better priced. The performance gain on the G752 is minimal.
nice video again :D thnk u man!
Sir can you please review the latest Asus GL702VM(titanium) with the new Kabylake Quad core processor which was announced at recently at CES 2017. Thanks!
I love your vids. Love from India.
Thanks Ahraz = )) I plan too
LOCKHEAD?? No.
Gah.. the NVMe drives are a kick in the face.. mine fucked up and now I need to return the Laptop. :f
This is my only war for gaming, and I can confirm that it's worth it!
i have it, it's a beast
How long does the battery last? If your not sure, estimate it
SerealKiller 1.5-2.5 hours, but whole battery lasted a year and died, I have to get a replacement now
Red One mine lasts almost 3 hours and that's with GeForce battery optimizations for games. I get around 4 with just sitting around googling stuff.
Woah! The battery lasted just one year?!? You must be playing non stop everyday.
Of course I know but Ive got G752 VY WITH GTX 980M and it was poor
I might get the 32GB ram one which is $2645 US Dollars -- So would it handle games like Rainbow Six Siege / GTA 5 / CoD Custom Zombies / Black Ops 3 ?
RAM doesn't affect the gaming. 16gb of RAM is more that enough for gaming. However, if you plan on doing professional 3D modeling with engineering programs like Autodesk Rivit, then 32gb will be more useful.
Simmon is correct. For games you won't see much of a difference if at all. It's more for video editing, autodesk etc
Matthew Moniz SimmonSays Oh thanks, well I guess 32GB of RAM is for me, since I edit and game at the same time. Thanks Guys ;)
please get desktop for gaming if you already have then fucking hell
+Arabia Gamers Okay if you are rich then buy this one if you some day need a desktop you may get good money from it and buy even better desktop
loved the weird expression at 3:05 lol :D
+Bhanu Pratap Singh haha thanks Bhanu!
is it available in 15 inch?? and how its battery life??? saving for a good one
If you want a 15-inch version of this check out the ASUS ROG GL502. I did a review of it on my channel. It's pretty similar. The battery life for the GL502 is about 5-hours of non-gaming
I dont know which one to pick
this one you reviewed expect with 980m or the Alienware 17 with the same spec (980m, 8GB ram, 1TB+256GB SSD ,4K resolution)
+monther almamari
The ASUS ROG G752 with the 980M has more RAM than the one you stated there. The Alienware might have issues in the future without getting a RAM upgrade
+Graystripe000
beside the RAM, the alienware is cheaper, I dont really need higher ram than 8 GB, maybe in the future yes but not for now, the most important for me is the 980m
I find the ASUS is expensive and I can get better choices with the same price
But still cant make a decision
do you know other alternative might be good ?
The ASUS ROG G751JY is the predecessor to the G752, and it's a little old now. It has most likely gone down in price by now and it is in the same hardware range as what you're looking for, I believe.

I just got the same model and it's amazing the only think I found is there is a light bleeding and some is becoming very noticeable when you i look from a lower angle, so do you have a problem of screen bleeding by any means?
just awesome, the best updated version
+Andrew Ryan Thanks Andrew!
You call that little flex?
And what is it with massive bezels on gaming laptops these days?
how about you test it with Assasins Creed Syndicate or Blackops 3 , i guess crysis 3 is pretty old game
+rahul r lol, bet your computer can't even run crysis 3 with decent settings on a solid framerate.
that is a big laptop does it handle heavy gaming for such a big laptop i know the gx800's already sold out but atleast i have the chance to get the g752
do you know if the orange display lights can be changed to white? Orange really messes with my eyes after awhile
holy lord, my g752VY just arrived!!!
Woohoo! = ) Let me know how you like it!
Matthew Moniz I still need to go get it, but I'll tell you how it goes! The exact version I got is Asus ROG G752VY-GC481T. Can't wait!
It's a great laptop!!! Every game goes smooth, over 50 FPS with extreme settings. I reccomend it!
hey can you do a review of dell 7460 compared to xps as they both have infinity edge?
If you plug in the charger to the laptop and continue playing games will it charge (very slowly, but not die)?
Dear, regardless the price, between Asus rog g752v and the alienware aw17R4-7345SLV-PUS, what would you choose for a gaming laptop?
saving money for it
Nice! let me know howy ou like it when you get it = )
i got the one with the 980m and it works awesome but keep in mind that its heavy as fuck and big as well keep it in mind because its a pain in the ass when you have to go to University with it everyday :)
DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP, I purchased it 5 months ago and it is by far the WORST laptop/pc ive ever owned or built since the 1990's. There are non stop software and hardware issues with it, alot of them unsolvable. Buy anything else except a rog asus.
I am considering msi or alienware.
max z Anything else will be better, mine is at the repair center now awaiting screen replacement. Ive only used it for 5 months an have never moved it from its place.
Awesome review :D BTW - what's the background music called? (Yeah, yeah... I know... Darude - Sandstorm...)
+🐉 ㄴㅌㅂㅁㅌ尺 🐉 Thanks!! The music is called Darude Sandstorm! haha, it's some song of audioblocks. I'l have to look up the exact name
+Matthew Moniz Thanks in advance! Oh and I forgot to mention something - you've got yourself a new subscriber :)
🐉 ㄴㅌㅂㅁㅌ尺 🐉 you're welcome! And that's awesome ! Welcome to the channel : )
is the gaming laptop still good for 2023 ?
How much are these brand new? And for the people that have it, how is it still holding up?
I have one I saw for 400 used, So i'd say like 600-800 new
Hello, Matthew.
+Lance Hamilton thank you very much for the answer
+Bruno Pato no problem!
