BG Music:
One of the best debut rock albums of all time.
Yes. But Zeppelin’s second best album of 1969. In fact Zeppelin has more platinum certified albums from the 1960s than The Rolling Stones, Cream, Hendrix, the Who, and Jefferson Airplane. COMBINED. Pretty good for a band that is not even considered a 60s band.
One of?
There aren't many bands with as deep of a catalog as zeppelin. Just when you think you heard it all you realize you forgot one. Arguably one of the heavy weight champions of rock/blues you name it.
With 90 songs, they didn't have one of Rock's biggest catalogs, but yes, it is exceptionally deep with good-to-great tracks, including a half-dozen or so masterpieces.
There's no band with as deep a catalog of great songs in my opinion, especially if you calculated percentage of how many great songs they had compared to how many they recorded.
@@Cosmo-Kramer I think he doesn't mean how many songs. He seems to mean "deep" as in depth of great songs.
@@ACCool78 Re-read my comment, that's exactly what I said.
The intro with the organ is the representation and symbolic of her funeral and the death of that relationship.
Love John Paul's intro...
One of so many great Led Zeppelin songs from the greatest rock band ever!
Yes. They are the greatest. It is not even close.
@@edwardcoit9748 FOR SURE🎸🎸🎸🎸🎹🎸🎸

First album, first song on side two....right after the awesomeness of Dazed and Confused. Zep taking us to church.
John Paul Jones was playing a Hammond organ with a Leslie amplifier for most of the song. It can play many different keyboard/organ sounds including the tone of a massive church organ which was its original intent.
This song just screams JPJ. I really hope he's healthy and alert since I last saw him with Them Crooked Vultures.
I remember reading somewhere that the organ intro was influenced by Garth Hudson's intro to Chest Fever by The Band.
@@russallert Pretty sure I remember reading that somewhere too.
Love this song, you can clearly hear every emotional word along with the rolling instrumentals
Who hasn’t felt these lyrics?
I always look at Brad's face when he's listening to Led Zeppelin. He's so funny.
Great song! The odd ending is because on the album it just goes right into the next song (Black Mountain Side).
For me, this song’s joy is Bonham’s rubber band meter. Man, you guys have found your way to pretty deep cuts.
That first album is a treasure trove…
One of the best organ intros in rock...and a great song for a break-up mix tape
This is one of my favorite songs ever lots of high rides jamming to this
They take you to church, then they take you to Bluestown. What an awesome band they were. Thanks for the reactions to the Mighty Zep.
Love seeing you two react to them! Zep’s first album was one of the most important albums of my childhood and I still hold it dear to my heart today.
Lemon Head as I heard Robert called, is a Instrument in his own right. This song is so PERFECT.
Lol I heard him called Percy 😂
Zeppelin is so bad ass
That big ass organ sound. John Paul Jones. Emotion we've all been through.
Start to finish, an amazing song on one of the best albums ever. Never gets old
Lex you’re so smart, have heard this song a hundred times but hasn’t ever thought about that they went from a catholic to a baptist church before.
The Rain Song for your own pleasure!!!
ZEPPELIN…BADASS….GOAT….NOBODY HAS EVER COME CLOSE!!!!!
love this one!!
Just awesome. Hearing and seeing this live was an experience all in itself. Let the good music live
This song is from 1969, nothing else sounded remotely close. I think that is why they had such a big influence on what was to come. As soon as they got a sound, it changed. 12 years or so together and this album sounded nothing like Physical Graffiti or In through the out door.
Love this song!
Definitely thought it sounded like church music the first time I heard this. On the album this segues right into an instrumental called Black Mountain Side, worth a listen in its own right, and then into Communication Breakdown, the first LZ song I ever heard and just had to hear the rest.
The song ended abruptly because it blends into the next song. Jack's gonna be a Led Head. 😁
👍❤🤙💋
Almost OCD for me hearing the first few chords of Black Mountain Side in my head then straight into Communicaton Breakdown. What a first album! 🙃
This song just oozes the Blues.
First song off the very first album.
That baby is going to love Led Zeppelin. 🙏🏽✌🏽♥️
As always...magnificent! This song goes right into the next song.
Their time was gonna come after their first record. And it did and it was massive.
That was hilarious!
Fun one!
LZ hard rock blues. Church gospel sound (organ) with some country music (steel guitar). This must've been on the stream I missed during the weekend. Dang, your chat still can't get away from LZ, even their dep deep deep cuts. lol
This is from their very early years I believe.
Working that pause button most correctly!
Lex to Brad "do you think my baby is cold?" Brad "nope, she is probably at "Womb" temperature
3;25--that's the sound of the two-tier hammond organ u hear, Lex..ya got 76 keys on top and bottom, can pre-set 'em to violins, orchestra, or any of 8 organ sounds. Nice pick, guys..almost forgot about this song and good it was!!
Oh yeah. Great reaction. More Zeppelin please.
John Paul Jones was always their not so secret weapon as whether keyboards, bass, acoustic instruments or behind the scenes studio wizardry, he was always amongst the best of at whatever he was doing at the time.
For another example, try their No Quarter live from the Song Remains the Same concert movie, he and Page have extended solos and the song is chills inducing.
Lastly, he is the bass player on one of the great rock instrumentals ever, from the recently passed Jeff Beck try Beck's Bolero. It also has Jimmy Page on 2nd guitar and Keith Moon on drums and Nicky Hopkins on keyboards. Amazing song, listen to the studio first then see it at Jeff's RR HoF induction with Jimmy coming onto help. They do a snippet of Immigrant Song in it and it is just a killer performance, RIP. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
J.P.J. THE HIDDEN GEM AND BACKBONE OF ONE OF THE GREATEST BAND EVER. TOTALLY AGREE
First
Album
Side 2 song 1....Early, 1969...album had been out a few weeks when my older brother got it from Columbia House Record Club. This is the first song I heard...we played Side 2 first...dunno why. It was a magical time never heard anything like it before or since. I was in 6th grade.
This is a good one I actually forgot about this song. So good!!
Zep 💪
Gotta love the nanchalant swag of Page between in the chorus and next verse - he just taps the riff of the song on his guitar strings, he doesn't actually play it. 3:34.
Robert gave it to her in this one 😂 great first record
They lyrics were by mainly Jimmy Page's I believe.
So well executed. Love to see you enjoy this music.
Another great one from led zeppelin, great to hear these songs again 💙
Great song. I know how that feels unfortunately. Tells it like it is!
One of my very favorites of theirs.
Love you child to no end.
May your faith be stronger than the Vatican and church itself....Lex
I wish only the best for you and Brad
they have 2 gods in Led Zeppelin, page and bonham on drums
they be nowhere without John Paul Jones and THEY agree in thier own word. The hidden gem
El acompañamiento es el mismo de Mr. Fantasy de Traffic. El de traffic salió un año antes.
The organ in the beginning of this song reminds me about the horror movie “Carnival of Lost Souls”……there is organ playing throughout the movie….was a strange cult type movie…..not a popular movie but it’s along the same idea from the sixties movie “Night of the Living Dead”…
"Catholic Church to Baptist Church" is a pefect description
song goes so hard
a personal favorite of mine
Brad you are such a lucky man. Lex is such a delightful fun little stinker. I get such a kick out of her and the way she reacts. And that giggle is so cute. She gets all into it. I also get a kick how you react to how she reacts. It is just hilarious.
That "other organ" was a Moog synthesizer.
It’s a Hammond B-3 Organ you’re hearing here. It’s capable of a varied selection of sounds. John Paul was a young prodigy who mastered this instrument at a very young age. His bass playing was just as polished.
"...then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself." - The Eagles, Already Gone.
Love you and the chemistry, congrats on the baby and have «fun» at the hospital ! We have twin girls or 4 now and we stayed 4 days there to be sure everything was ok. All worth it ! :)
One of the best songs off of Led Zeppelin's debut album, Robert Plant's voice is so iconic
Definitely one of my favorite intros!!
This song got me through a tough time
I highly recommend the Rover or Night Flight. Really under-appreciated zep songs.
There is something unusual to check out. There is a band called Dread Zeppelin that did a very cool version of this song. Dread Zeppelin is a reggae band with a fat Elvis impersonator as the lead singer. They really are a fun band to listen to.
The back and forth between Ed Zeppelin and Tort Elvis is so funny.
Ed Zeppelin: Woman lie, you be cheat’n, you be hurt’n
Tort Elvis: That’s all you seem to do
Now, forget all the other lyrics. But that chorus! Is that something to say to a lady carrying a child, lol! So, we raised three boys (youngest will soon be 40) and sure are there with you. Great reaction.
Thank you for sharing this with me 😊
Jonesy using the organ bass pedals with Jimmy on a Fender slide. Great tune!!
The video cut the song before it ended. Probably because Your Time Is Gonna Come runs into another song on the album
John Paul Jones working those keys. Insame tune! thanks
Good pick guys
You're thinking of a harpsichord, dear. And yeah, that's a good old-fashioned organ. Pre-synth days. Probably older than your parents. Love you two kids!
I recommend Down By the Seaside by Led Zeppelin
Lex I think the other instrument you were thinking of was a harpsicord. It and the organ are pretty similar.
Hey hey what can I do is another good one
🤘🤘
Good luck lex
Great musical phraseology! I was in high school when this came out, Yes, it does sound like church music, but it goes Western with Jimi Page mimicking steel guitar. Few guitarist could do this.
Love y'all keep it coming... y'all should do misty mountain hop..if ya hadn't already
they did. what im waiting for is the crunge
Led Zeppelin 1....'The shot heard around the world '....Trust me on that, I heard it when I was 13 !!!?
Rock on Lex!
¡Què recuerdos..!
The main riff or verse sounds like Sweet Home Alabama
Very early Zep . The song has some similarities to DEAR MR FANTASY by Traffic .
This is a great one, and yes, you expect a church choir right away after the piano--is he preachin' to the choir? 😉
Need to react to Led Zeppelin. The Rover
saw them twice in 1969 in Boston
I feel like im in church lol
Brad looked totally confused during the intro 😂 And Lex, was it just me or did she look like maybe she had a guilty conscience during the first verse? 🤣
Oh and another thing the break right there right after you had your little discussion about the song when you came back in you hear that acoustic guitar but instead of strumming at he's patting it with the palm of his hand
Great choice. You have to react to Gary Numan’s “ I Dream of Wires”. Please?
It's a shame you're not hearing how the first three songs on this record side (Zep 1, side 2) mesh together.
Zeppelin considered themselves an "album" band, and very rarely released singles. This first album was definitely meant to be heard that way.
Lightning crashes by Live
Best High School Breakup Song Ever.....and I'm a retired Catholic Altar Boy...OOOOHH Baby!!
This is a great song because it captures so well the dark feeling of a relationship going bad. The message seems foreign & confusing to the two of you. Good for you.
Its a good one❤
You know your band is the shit when the best musician in the band is the quiet guy on bass. And keyboards.
He is probabaly the best musician but Bonham is the most musical. If that makes sense.
Try Marc Cohn song the things we've handed down great song for expecting parents 🎹🎹
